Process for the production of rod-shaped objects from thermoplastics and mold for carrying out the process.
The invention relates to a method for producing rod-shaped objects from thermoplastic plastics and to a mold for carrying out the method.
The usual forms generally consist of a tube which is open at both ends and which is screwed onto the filling device at one of these ends and closed at the other end with a cap screw. After the mold has been filled and churned under pressure, it is unscrewed from the filling device and the cap tube is then removed. The molded object must now be released and this is done by pushing the object out of the mold. Since this has to be done with some force, usually even by hammering the object, deformation and / or damage occurs, and the loosening of particularly long objects made of polyamides and similar connections thus presents many difficulties.
The method according to the invention, which allows these difficulties to be avoided, is characterized in that the material made plastic by heating is pressed into a mold which consists of two parts which can be separated along a cross section perpendicular to the axis of the mold, whereupon the mold is cooled removes a molding and removes the article from the mold with the aid of the thereby exposed end of the molded article.
The mold according to the invention for carrying out this method is characterized in that it consists of two parts which each enclose a space for receiving the material to be molded and that the interface between the two spaces runs perpendicular to the length of the mold after a cross section.
In order to explain the invention, a description of two embodiments of the form according to the invention follows with reference to the drawing, in which
1 shows a vertical section of a mold according to the invention, the unscrewable part being on the top of the mold, and
Fig. 2 shows the same section, the unscrewable part being on the underside or filling side of the mold.
1 shows only the upper part of the mold 1, which part is connected to a casting head (not shown) for filling the mold 1 under pressure. After the mold 1 has been filled, with the screwed head 2 also being completely or partially filled and the entire mold being cooled, the two parts 1 and 2 can be separated from one another by unscrewing the head 2. Part of the molded article then protrudes from the mold 1. The molded article is easily removed from the mold, without upsetting or otherwise deforming, by pulling on this protruding part or by holding that part and pulling on the mold: 1.
In the enlarged part of the head 2 with the internal screw thread that fits around the external screw thread of the actual shape 1, the through-holes 3 are located near the transition to the narrower part. These through-holes 3 prevent the D to be formed! Material can penetrate between the screw connections between parts 1 and 2 when filling the mold under pressure. The upper edges of the molded part 1 are beveled at the point of contact with the molded part 2, so that an annular space is formed between the two molded parts into which the bores 3 open out. As a result, penetration of the molten or softened material into the screw connection is almost impossible.
In FIG. 2, the molded part 1 is connected to the casting head 5 with the filling channel 6 by means of a molded part 2.
After the mold has been filled and cooled, the whole is unscrewed from the casting head 5 and the mold parts 1 and 2 are then separated. The lower part of the cast object can now be used to remove the object from the molded part 1, as was described above in the same way as for the other embodiment.
The embodiments described are only given as examples. Many changes are possible without going outside the scope of the invention. The two molded parts can be connected to one another by means of flanges and bolts, whereby it is not necessary for the spaces enclosed by the molded parts to be in alignment.
