Device for cutting ferrous metal bars one by one. The present invention relates to a device for cutting one by one bars of ferrous metals. This device com takes a slide mounted so that it can slide in a block and provided with an edge: intended to shear the bar during work.
It is characterized in that the slider com carries a shoulder forming a support. for the lower end of the bar and in that the block comprises means for guiding the bar such that the axis of the latter is presented obliquely with respect to the slide, at an angle of approximately 83.
The accompanying drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the device according to the invention.
Fig. 1 is a half-elevation, from the front, of this embodiment.
Fig. 2 is a section along II-II of fig.1.
Figs. 3 and 4 show the slide respectively in top plan and in section along IV-IV of fig. 3.
As shown, the device is intended for use on a horizontal press and the bar advances automatically by the effect of its own weight. The device could however be mounted on a vertical press with modifications of detail, indicated below.
The embodiment shown is constituted by a device mounted on a fixed part A of the press, which part has a central perforation a and, on its front face, a circular recess b, coaxial with this perforation. One end of a cylinder block 1 is applied to the bottom of this chamber. It forms a bevelled flange 1a against which a bevel 2a of a ring 2 which is threaded onto the block 1 and fits into the recess. This ring is used for fixing the device to the. hurry; it is crossed by a series of screws 2b.
Block 1 presents; along its axis, a perforation 3, of rectangular section. On the other hand, it is pierced with a transverse hole, of circular section, which opens into the perforation 3 and whose axis is inclined by approximately 83 on the axis of the perforation 3. In this hole is screwed a sleeve 4 of the tinée to serve as a guide for an iron bar C to. cut off.
The socket 4 is provided with a lock nut 4a. Its lower end is located in a plane @ normal to the axis of said bush and is presented obliquely with respect to the: direction of the perforation 3 of the block 1, flush with the upper wall of said perforation 3.
The perforation 3 serves as a guide for a slider, of rectangular section, formed of two parts 5-5 '(fig: 4) made integral with one another for example by connecting members such as screws. This slide is tiné to undergo the action of the moving part of the press. It is returned to this mobile part by a pusher (not shown), acting through the perforation a of part A.
The slide is held in contact with this pusher by springs 6 (fig. 3), attached, on the one hand, to the block 1 and, on the other hand, to studs 7 which a collar 8 carries (fig. 1 and 2). The return movement of the slide is limited by a transverse key 9.
Part 5: of the slide is the part producing the shearing. The plane in which the shearing edge of the slide moves forms an angle of approximately 7 with the lower end of the sleeve 4, said end being in a plane normal to said sleeve. In addition, the end of the bush 4 closest to the shearing edge of the slide is tangent to the plane in which said edge moves. Part 5 of the slide receives its action from the movable part of the press.
It is provided with a shoulder 5a corresponding to the diameter of the bar to be cut and with a height itself corresponding to the length of the section to be obtained. The shape of this shoulder is semicircular in the case of round bars; it is semi-hexagonal in the case of hexagonal bars and V in the case of square section bars, etc.
The bottom 5b adjacent to the shoulder 5a .est drilled with screw holes 5c for the possible fixing -de put-ins, intended to vary the length of the neck pieces per. This bottom 5b also has a groove 5d to allow passage to a dog 10 retaining the cut pieces. The other part 5 ′ of the slide receives its action from the aforementioned pusher (extractor) to bring the bucket coulis back to its starting point. It has a 5th recess which is intended to leave not wise to the dog 10 and to the cut pieces.
The hammer 10 is articulated on a transverse axis 11, in a cavity of the block 1; i1 is returned to the rear by a spring 12. In front of this hammer, the block 1 is drilled hard. wide passage 13 which communicates the perforation 3 with the outside.
The device being in the position shown in fig.1, the end of the bar supported on the bottom 5b, when the press pushes the slide 5-5 ', the edge formed by the upper rear edge: of its shoulder 5a, attacks the bar and the latter is sheared between this edge and the opposite edge of the part 4, with the desired relief.
When the slider 5-5 'moves back, the cut section C being held by the cable 10 cannot follow the backward movement of the slider. This section is then released by the advancement of a new section which will in turn be retained by the hammer 10. The cut pieces pass through the slide through the recess 5e of its part 5 'and the block 1 by the. passage 13.
The length of the dog 10 varies with the thickness of the sections to be cut. To change the thickness. Of the sections, the stakes mentioned above can be reported on the slide 5-5 '. For very small variations in thickness, the sleeve 4 can be unscrewed, creating a slight clearance, without inconvenience, between it and the slide.
Of course, you need a socket 4 and a particular slide 5 for each diameter of the bar to be cut.
To make the device usable on a vertical press, it suffices to modify part 5 'of the slide and the pusher (not shown), so as to allow the cut pieces to pass through the perforation 3 of the block 1, the orifice a of part A and the pusher guide, i.e. the press table. Part 5 of the slide will be. attached to the mobile part of the press.
