Additional patent to main patent No. 301.139. Process for the production of a metal-containing azo dye. It has been found that a new, valuable, metal-containing azo dye is obtained if one uses a mixture of the two 1-azo azo dyes that correspond to the formulas
EMI0001.0009
correspond, lets chromium-releasing agents act in such a way that a chromium-containing azo dye is created, which each has one molecule of the two:
Contains lusgan monoazo dyes bound to a chromium atom in a complex.
The new metal-containing dye is a water-soluble powder that dyes wool from weakly alkaline, neutral or slightly acetic acid baths in olive shades of good light and washfastness.
The two at. present process as starting materials serving monoazo dyes can be lierwestellt earth by methods known per se by dianotated 2-aminobenzene -1-carboxylic acid - 4 - sulfonic acid inethyianiid with 1-phenyl.-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone and dianotated 2-amino-1-oxybenzene-4-sulfonic acid methylamide with 1-acetylamino-7-exynaphthialine in each case in
alkaline agent.
When carrying out the process, it is generally advisable to use an amount of chromium-releasing agent containing about one gram atom of chromium for a total of about 2 moles of monoazo dye and about 1 mole of each of the two dyes used as starting materials and / or to carry out the metallization in a weakly acidic to alkaline agent.
For example, complex chromium compounds of aliphatic or aromatic o-oxycarboxylic acids that contain the chromium in complex bonds are particularly suitable as chromium-releasing agents for carrying out the process.
As examples of aromatic oxycarboxylic acids u. a. those of the benzene series such as 4-, 5- or 6-methyl-1-oxybenzene-2-carboxylic acid and, above all, salicylic acid itself are mentioned.
The conversion of the dyes into the complex chromium compounds takes place with advantage in the heat, open or under pressure, z. B, at the boiling point of the reaction mixture, optionally in the presence of suitable additives, eg. B. in the presence of salts of organic acids, bases, organic solvents or other agents promoting the complex formation.
Example: 20.8 parts of the dye from diazotized? -Aminobenzene -1-carboxylic acid - 4- sulfonic acid methylamide and 1-phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone and? 0.7 parts of the dyestuff from diano-tated 2-amino-1-oxybenzene-4-sulphonic acid methylamide and 1.-acetylamino-7-oxynaphthalin, both dyestuffs in the form of a moist paste (filter cake),
are stirred in 1000 parts of water and 190 parts of a solution of chromsalieylsaurem sodium-potassium

SUBClaims: 1. Process according to patent claim, characterized in that less than one atom of chromium with a chromium content of von, 6010 is added to each molecule of the monoazo dyes present in the starting mixture. The whole thing is boiled under reflux for 4 hours. After this time the metallization @, g, - is finished.
The complex formed can be deposited by acidification with acetic acid or by adding sodium chloride. After filtration, it can be dissolved in 30% sodium hydroxide solution and precipitated with atrium chloride for purification.
