B. in Hütchen form.

Process for the manufacture of insecticides. It has been found that effective insect control agents can be obtained in a simple way if plastic mixtures of substances are heated in the heat, the insectic active ingredients and smoldering agents that prevent the mixtures from wilting, for example.
B. in smoke or mist form, included, formed at 40-50 <B> '</B> in an extruder on strands ver and then broken down into parts. You can use lubricants to improve the deformability of these mixtures, as well as resin substances that improve the adhesion of the mist to surfaces. Furthermore, you can apply ignition masses to the resulting molded pieces to facilitate ignition.
As insecticidal active ingredients for the present method, the known contact insecticides, such as. B. dichlorodiphenyltrichloromethylmethane, dichlorodiphenyldichloromethylmethane, hexacblorcyclohexane, 1,2,4,5,6,7,10,10-OctacWor- 4, 7 - endomethylene - 4, .9, 7, 8 - tetrahydroindane and the like, as well as their mixtures into consideration.
Also other natural or synthetic insecticidal substances that are effective as breath, food or touch poisons, such as. B. pyrethrum extracts, Rotenone, Diethylnitrophenylthiophosphat, Hexaäthyltetraphosphat and mixtures thereof can be used.
Known materials, the mixtures of which are ignitable and without flame, can be used as the smoldering agent, which allow the smoldering of the control agents in smoke or mist form. development, bringing the active ingredients to fine distribution. These mixtures usually contain oxygen carriers such as chlorates, nitrates, chromates, etc.
in connection with combustible organic materials such as wood flour, corn flour, starch and the like. As fillers and flame-retardant additives, ammonium salts, in particular ammonium chloride, can be added, and lubricants such as soapstone, talc and the like. To facilitate the process forming.
The proportions of the individual components in the substance mixtures and thus the degree of thermal plasticity of the mixtures can be varied within certain limits. In general, the active ingredients will be used in amounts of 30-50% and the sulphurous substances in amounts of 40-60%, while the additional amounts for the resins can be about 5-10%. Mixing the. Starting ingredients are best made in a kneading machine.
From the kneader, the homogeneously worked mass is fed to a high-compression extruder, in which the deformation is carried out into strands at 40-50 '. The size and shape of the cross-section of these strands can. be arbitrary, depending on the intended purpose.
So you can use both larger cross-sections, if the strands obtained on wide platten.- or tablet-shaped moldings should be processed, and smaller cross-sections, when it comes to the insect control in the form of threads, wires, sticks ; Use candles or cones.
The dismantling of the strands can. done by cutting, if necessary, you can bring the parts obtained by pressing into other shapes, for. B. in the form of a hat.
This type of production and deformation achieves a high degree of compression of the material mixture and the best homogeneous distribution of the individual components in one another, which has a particularly beneficial effect when the deformation products smolder. The smoldering residue that remains after the fading is as a result of light-colored, fine-bubble Be, d.
In other words, the preparation ensures that the active ingredients are smoldered without significant destruction of the active substance, which in preparations produced in other ways is often indicated by strong charring (black discoloration) of the smoldering residue.
Since the preparation easily fogs up from the pore-rich smoldering residue, the smoldering temperatures that occur are relatively low, which counteracts the decomposition of the valuable active substance.
The molded bodies produced by the process according to the invention therefore result in a very favorable active ingredient yield and thus a high insecticidal effect.
In some cases it is advisable to use suitable additives to improve the thermal stability of the substance mixtures; for this come several amino group-containing compounds such. B. urea and its derivatives, guanidine, melamine and the like. Consider. These additives raise the ignition temperature of the deformed insect repellants and thus secure them against premature ignition.
Another way to protect the mixture of substances against premature inflammation is to make the individual reactive. Components of the smoldering agent set, such as B. the potassium chlorate or the ammonium salts, especially ammonium nitrate, separately with proportions of the active ingredient, z.
B. dichlorodiphenyltrichloromethylinethane, mixes and kneads and covers them with it and only then the processing of the total mixture of substances. undertakes.
It has also been found that the thermal stability of the insect control agent can be increased further if you turn off the above ammonium salts and instead of these salts the nitric acid salts of several amino-containing compounds such. B. urea and its derivatives, guanidine, melamine and the like. Ver used.
Furthermore, acid-binding agents, such as alkali metal or ammonium bicarbonate, hexamethylene tetramine, ammonium oxalate, etc. can be added to the substance mixtures in order to intercept small traces of acid that may occur during carbonization and when the mist hits sensitive objects can have an adverse effect.
Accordingly, according to the present invention, insect control agents can be produced which contain dichlorodiphenyl trichloromethyl methane as the active ingredient, ammonium nitrate as the smoldering agent, ammonium chloride, potassium chlorate and combustible organic materials, as well as lubricants and resins.
Since the ignition of the finished molded body in use requires a special ignition source in the case of some mixtures that are relatively difficult to ignite, special storage is necessary in order to facilitate the ignition process, the molded bodies have also proven to be advantageous for example in. The form of wires, chopsticks, candles or in the shape of a hat with small amounts of an ignition material to see ver, which allows the painting and lighting of the molded body on any friction surface.
The use of a special ignition means is thus unnecessary. The ignition takes place directly on the mass of the pesticide, which ignites immediately and evenly flakes off. As the ignition mass you can use the known ignition masses, as they are used, for example, for matches, which are primarily composed of phosphorus, sulfur or phosphorus-sulfur compounds and oxygen-releasing substances and expediently also friction materials such. B.
Glass powder and binding agent included. These detonating materials are applied to the molded insects after the deformation, expediently in order to facilitate the rubbing, at the ends, corners or edges of the deformation products. The ignition compound is applied by dipping or brushing.
The insect control agents produced according to the invention are suitable for combating insect pests of all kinds in living rooms, stables, factory rooms, warehouses, large containers and the like. After ignition on a common friction surface, they smolder evenly without a flame and develop smoke or mist laden with active substance, which destroys the insect pests present in the rooms in a short time. The smoke or mist is deposited on existing surfaces (walls, ceilings, floors, objects) and unfolds there,
if the agents contain contact insecticidal active ingredients, a corresponding permanent effect.
<I> Examples: </I> 1. A finely ground mixture of 20 parts of ammonium chloride, 10 parts of potato starch and 8 parts of ammonium nitrate is mixed with a mixture of 40 parts of dichlorodiphen, yltrichloromethylmethane and 22 parts of potassium chlorate in a suitable mixer or kneading unit processed homogeneously,
then pressed at 40 to <B><I>50'</I> </B> C in a high-compression extruder to round strands 6-7 mm thick and cut into pieces 7 cm long. Man. After cooling, it receives solid fittings that are evenly distributed when ignited. die down with the development of a thick smoke or mist, which is sufficient for each piece to disinfest a room of around 50 m @.
2. Processed in the same way as in Example 1, a mixture of 10 parts of ammonium chloride, 10 parts of starch or grain flour, 10 parts of sodium nitrate and 20 parts of hexachlorocyclohexane with a mixture of 25 parts of dichlorodiphenyl trichloromethyl methane, 5 parts of tree resin and 20 parts of potassium chlorate. It is formed into strands of 1-2 cm in diameter, which are cut into pieces of 0.3-0.8 mm,
and after cooling it receives a highly effective incense in tablet form.
<B> 3. </B> A total mixture of 20 parts of dichlorodiphenyltrichloromethylmethane, 20 parts of 1,2,4,5,6,7,10,10-octachloro-4; 7- is processed in the same way as in example 1 endomethylene-4,9,7,8-tetrahydroindane, 22 parts of potassium chlorate, 14 parts of ammonium chloride, 10 parts of starch, 8 parts of ammonium nitrate, 3 parts of urea, 3 parts of ammonoxalate on molded pieces.
The fittings produced according to the examples can be on hot documents, such. B. stovetops, electric heating plates, etc. or can be made to die down by lighting. They can also be seen ver with a special ignition material, making them ignitable on 'friction surfaces. The dense smoke or fog that develops in each case kills the insects present in the room in a short time and, as precipitation on the surfaces of the room, has a permanent contact insecticidal effect.
4. A finely ground mixture of 15 parts by weight of urea nitrate, 10 parts by weight of potato starch and 5 parts by weight of rosin is processed with a mixture of 40 parts by weight of dichlorodiphenyltrichloromethylmethane, 10 parts by weight of hegachlorocyclohexane and 20 parts by weight of potassium chlorate in a suitable mixer or kneading machine .
The mixture of substances is then processed into strands at 40-50 'in an extrusion press, which are then cut into pieces. After cooling, one obtains solid fittings which evenly melt away when ignited. The fittings have a good shelf life.
Instead of the above composition can. one a. Manufacture a similar insect control agent under the same processing conditions from the following raw materials:
35 parts by weight of dichlorodiphenyltrichloromethyl methane, 10 parts by weight of ilegachlorocyclohexane, 20 parts by weight of potassium chlorate, 20 parts by weight of guanidine nitrate, 10 parts by weight of beech wood, 5 parts by weight of rosin.
The composition of the substance mixtures according to the invention can be varied within certain limits; however, the amount of active ingredient contained therein should not expediently exceed 50% and the amount of anti-inflammatory agent used should be at least 35% of the total mixture.
Instead of the mixture of dichlorodiphenyltrichloromethyl methane and hegachlorocyclohegan mentioned in the examples, it is also possible to use only a corresponding amount of dichlorodiphenyl trichloromethyl methane. Other known insecticides can also be used as the active ingredient, as well as lubricants and resin additives.
