Fig. 2 eine Aussenansieht der Vorrichtung,
Fig. 3 eine Innenansieht der Vorrichtung und
Protective pad for a painful area on the foot.
The present invention is a protective pad for a painful area on the foot, which z. B. in the treatment of visual curl, inflammation, hallux valgus, extostosis of the metatarsal bones and similar disease symptoms in the human foot.
It is known that swelling, inflammation and similar symptoms of the human foot can be extremely painful. A device for eliminating and treating such ailments is subject to the condition that they use the B. transfers the pressure exerted by the shoe from the painful area to the surrounding healthy tissue. Known Vorriehtungen cause this by means of the intended balancing.
A wide variety of protective pillows and treatments for swelling, inflammation and similar foot disorders have been suggested. Most of the known devices consist of individual, assembled parts or are laminated, these parts or slats being connected to each other over the whole of the contact surfaces. A large part of the required elasticity and cushion effect is lost, especially when using adhesives.
The protective cover for a sore spot on the foot is characterized according to the present invention by an outer shield to cover the spot and a cushion which is only attached to the inner surface of the shield along its outer edge.
The shield is made of sponge rubber and is covered with a thin layer of rubber. The cushion is also expediently made of sponge rubber and can be provided with a central opening which is intended to accommodate the part of the foot to be protected. A ring can be attached to the shield, which can be placed around the toe to be protected and z. B. can be used to hold the device in place.
An exemplary embodiment of the subject matter of the invention is shown in more detail in the accompanying drawing; it shows :
1 shows a diagrammatic view of a human foot with a protective overlay attached to it, which in this case is used to treat inflammation of a hallux valgus or a similar foot condition and covers the painful area,
2 shows an outside view of the device,
Fig. 3 is an inside view of the device and
4 shows, on a larger scale, a section through the device along the line IV-IV in FIG.
The protective overlay shown is formed from a main part 5 and a fastening part 6. The part 6 is attached to one end of the main part 5. If the device is intended to protect against inflammation or similar disease seizures on the ball of the big toe, the fastening part 6 is placed over the big toe 7 of the foot, with the main part 5 of the device protruding backwards and covering the area to be protected. Since the fastening tape 6 encompasses the entire toe 7, no further means of holding the device in place are required, since the user's footwear ensures that the device is held precisely over the inflamed area.
In the example shown, the main part 5 is oval in plan. This shape is special. expedient, since the device is thereby best adapted to the area to be protected. It goes without saying that other shapes are of course also possible. The main part of the device is formed in the present case by a concavo-convex arched shield, which has a layer 8 made of elastic material, e.g. B. made of foam rubber.
This layer 8 is covered by a thin rubber layer 9 with a smooth outer surface.
The sight 9 can be a thin rubber sheet, as it is, for. B. is also used in dentistry. The layer 9 can, however, also be vulcanized onto the visual layer 8.
The layer 9 obviously prevents sticking to the user's footwear when the device is being worn by the user and also enables the footwear to be pulled freely and easily over the device attached to the foot. The thin layer 9 can of course also consist of a flexible plastic which is expediently moisture-resistant and can be fixedly attached to the visual layer 8 in a known manner.
In the example shown, the fastening band 6 is made up of two lines in the same way as the main part and consists of the same material as the shield 8. The band has an inner layer 1.0 made of sponge rubber, which is covered by a thin rubber sheet 11.
This sheet, which of course can also consist of a mander aluminum material as rubber, is fastened to the visual layer 10 in the same way as the rubber sheet 9 fastened to the layer 8. The fastening tape is elastic and can be comfortably over the big toe of the user of the device can be put over, the fastening tape is, as in the case shown.
play, two-way from one piece with the shield, from which it protrudes at right angles. In order to ensure air access to the protected footing, openings 12 are provided in the shield, which can be arranged in various ways and in the space between the shield when not in use and the pillow 13 open.
The cushion 13 provided in the device is formed by a flat element made of elastic material, expediently made of sponge rubber. The element 13 has approximately the same thickness as the part 8 of the shield and is mounted inside the latter. In the example shown (Fig. 3 and 4) the cushion 13 has the same oval outline shape as the shield and has a central opening 14, which also has an oval cross-section. This opening is used to accommodate at least most of the painful area of the foot.
As can best be seen in FIG. 4, the cushion element 13 is practically flat and is only attached with its outer edge to the inner surface of the shield, as shown at 15. Any suitable adhesive can be used as the connecting means.
By connecting the element 13 to the sign only at its edge parts, a free space 16 is created between the sign and the cushion element, the depth of which increases from the interconnected edges towards the inside.
If the cushion element 13 were to be connected to the shield over its entire surface by means of an adhesive, a large part of the elasticity and cushion effect of the device would be lost, which is prevented by creating the space 16. It should also be noted that no particularly thick parts come to rest directly on the painful area of the foot during the branches of the device. The cushion element 13 can be bent so that a relatively large area thereof rests against the inside of the shield part 8 when the device is worn.
As a result of the described configuration of the cushion, however, it is ensured that a pressure originating from the footwear is transferred to the healthy tissue surrounding the painful standing position, while the swelling or the most painful part of it is transmitted through the opening 14 into the cushion element 13 protrudes and is further protected by the shield.
In the example shown, ventilation openings 12 are provided in the shield, which open into the space 16 between the shield and the cushion. Such openings can of course also be attached in other ways.
Since the described device is largely made of sponge rubber, it is extremely light and, due to its special design, also ensures a sufficient protective effect to keep pressure away from the painful foot area and to transfer it to the surrounding healthy tissue the device is designed in such a way that its appearance guarantees the user that, due to its small dimensions, it can fulfill its purpose when wearing ordinary footwear and is not uncomfortable.
It should also be noted that the device described has a long shelf life and can be washed or otherwise cleaned at any time.
The device is easy to use; When the elastic band 6 is placed over the toes, the device assumes the correct position by itself, so that the most sensitive point of the swelling or inflammation comes to lie within the opening of the cushion element 13.
