Fl ssigkeitsstandanzeiger
Liquid level indicator
The subject matter of the invention is a liquid level indicator on containers, in particular for a boiler, by means of which various disadvantages associated with known liquid level indicators are avoided.
One known type of liquid level cigar has a clear stand glass. which communicates with the container containing the liquid. The tubular glass therefore contains the same liquid as the liquid container. Another type of liquid level indicator has a float inside the liquid container, which is attached to a Selmur, which runs on rollers outside the container and carries a counterweight at its other end. The counterweight itself is used as a pointer to indicate the swimmer's position.
Fin near part of the first-mentioned type of liquid level indicator. that the stand glass - as its name suggests - usually bribes glass or another breakable material and is therefore exposed to the risk of breakage, which can result. that the entire contents of the liquid container runs out. Furthermore, with such liquid level indicators there is a risk that you will see the connection between the.
The container and the stand glass are clogged, especially since the tile connection point is usually very close to the loden of the container. Such clogging can cause an inaccurate reading of the fluid level. Finally, said stand glasses become slightly cloudy if the liquid contained in the liquid container has a strong adhesion, in particular if the level of the liquid changes frequently.
With the second type of liquid level display, the tendon often only holds the rollers, which leads to inaccuracies in the reading. Furthermore, the cord requires a passage opening in the upper part of the container. This type of liquid level indicator is therefore impractical for containers in which the internal pressure is different from the external pressure, or if the liquid in the container is easily volatilized.
The invention is aimed at eliminating all of these problems.
The liquid level indicator according to the invention is characterized in that it has a float in a container close to a vertical wall of this container and guided in a vertical direction, on which a magnetic pole pair is present, of which at least one of its poles is close to the container wall that the container wall adjacent to the magnetic pole consists of a non-magnetizable material at least in the force field of the magnet that moves with the float, and that outside the container and in the same force field a vertical tube filled with a liquid is arranged,
in which a body at least partially made of magnetizable material and serving as an indicator floats.
The drawing shows two exemplary embodiments of the liquid level indicator according to the invention.
Fig. 1 is a vertical longitudinal section through a first embodiment.
Fig. 2 is a partial horizontal section of a variant of this embodiment.
Fig. 3 is a section on a larger scale of a display ball of the same embodiment.
4 is the same section of a variant of this display ball, and
Fig. 5 is a sectional elevation of the second embodiment.
1 shows a float 1 which carries a magnet 2 and which rests on the surface of a liquid 3 of an aluminum container 4 that is closed on all sides. The float is guided in a vertical direction by means of a rail 5 which is arranged such that one end of the magnet is close to the container wall. The magnet shown is a permanent bar magnet, but it could be replaced by a permanent magnet with a different design, for example a horseshoe-shaped magnet or an electromagnet.
Outside the container wall 4, specifically close to the magnet 2, a tube 6 filled with liquid is arranged which has no connection whatsoever with the container 4.
In the liquid 7 of this tube there is a display body in the form of a ball 8 which is attracted by the magnet.
The eye itself can be made of any material. If it were made of a magnetizable material, it would be advisable to provide for a pole formation so that the swimmer himself can attract the indicator body in the desired manner.
The liquid in which the indicator body floats can, depending on the circumstances, consist of light mineral oil, glycerine or an aqueous solution and the specific weight of which is adapted to the effective specific weight of the indicator body.
There is no connection whatsoever between the indicator ball and the magnet apart from the magnetic force of attraction. The drawing shows that the indicator ball is hollow. The specific weight of the liquid 7 is selected so that it is essentially equal to the effective specific weight of the ball 8. In this way the ball floats freely in the liquid and is able to easily follow the attraction of the magnet by rolling along the wall of the tube 6 in a vertical direction.
In this example according to FIG. 1 it is assumed. that the tube 6 is made of glass. so that the position of the indicator ball and thus the position of the float can be observed directly. However, the pipe could be made of a non-magnetizable, andurel-sighted material, e.g. B. made of brass, aluminum or plastic, and be equipped with a remote display device.
Such a variant is illustrated in FIG. 2, in which the tube 6a consists of an opaque, non-magnetizable material and is provided with two electrically conductive resistance wires 9 which pass through the tube in a vertical direction near the tube wall facing the magnet 2 run away. The display ball 8 rolls along these wires as if on a trace and electrically connects the wires to one another at their contact points with the same.
The resistance wires are lines 10 through Lei in an electrical circuits such. B. in a measuring bridge switched, which has a display device 11, z. B. a measuring instrument provided with a pointer, which is calibrated in a manner known per se so that it can indicate the position of the indicator ball in the tube 6a and thus the height of the liquid level in the container 8.
In the variant according to FIG. 2, the main part of the liquid container can also consist of iron or steel. wherein the wall of the container has a sehmalen, vertically ver running strip 4a made of non-magnetizable material, for. B. made of brass, which is inserted next to the tube 6a.
In Fig. 3 and 4 two embodiments of the display ball are shown. According to FIG. 3, the ball is solid and has a core made of a material whose specific weight is smaller than that of the liquid contained in the container, e.g. wood or cork. There is a cover 12 made of magnetizable material over the core Material.
Fig. 4, the display ball is hollow and made of a magnetizable material. Both embodiments of the display ball can be used in the embodiments of the liquid indicator according to FIGS. 1, 2 and 5.
In the embodiment shown in FIG. 5, the container 4 stands for the liquid whose level is to be displayed. with a vertical pipe 15 via valves 13 and 14 in connection. The pipe 15 consists of a non-magnetizable material. z. B. on stainless steel, made of aluminum. Brass or synthetic resin, so that it is permeated by the flow of force of the magnet without causing it to be scattered or seen on its way to the display body.
The liquid 16 in the tube 15 has the same level as the liquid in the loading container 4, and a sight 1, which carries a magnet 2, rests on the liquid in the tube 15. A display ball 8 is located in the liquid of a separate container 6, which is neither connected to the tube 15 nor to the container 4. As has been explained in the description of the first embodiment, this ball follows the movements of the magnet 2 carried by the sighted eye 1.
If the tube 6 is made of ('read or some other transparent material, the liquid level in the container 4 can be read off directly by observing the position of the indicator 8, otherwise it could be observed electrically, for example in the manner shown in FIG will.
To prevent the magnet from turning sideways, a rail 17 made of soft iron, which attracts one pole of the magnet, is attached diametrically opposite the ball. For the same purpose one could also give the tube 15 and the float 1 a non-circular cross-section, e.g. B. an oval or rectangle cross-section.
This embodiment according to FIG. 5 has the advantage, among other things, that the magnetic visual float and the display body are combined in one structural unit, which on the one hand comprises the vertical tube 15 serving as a chamber for receiving the float 1, which also leads the visual float and has connections is provided for the main container 4, on the other hand the tube 6 for receiving the indicator ball 8 under the influence of the magnet 2. In this way, the entire liquid level indicator can be easily exchanged, since it has connections to the connection pieces of the main container provided with valves 13 and 14 is attached.
This type of connection also enables the indicator to be removed during operation, for example in a distillation plant. Furthermore, it is possible in this way to men the liquid level indicator without special measures, such as. B. the welding of non-magnetizable strips, for containers made of magnetizable material, such. B. made of sheet iron. to use.
