Krackabschnitt mit einem verhältnismässig grossen Verhältnis von Oberfläche zu Volu men und einen Aroinatisierungsabschnitt mit einem verhältnismässi;
Was serstoff, wovon einen erheblichen Anteil an wertvollen Olefinen.

Process for converting liquid hydrocarbons into olefin-containing gases and aromatic hydrocarbons. Described in British Patent Nos. 552216, 574973, 575766 and 575771 . Dr.
C. Weizmann process for the production of aromatic hydrocarbons together with men. Gases containing olefins from mineral and other liquid hydrocarbons boiling between 50 and 4000C, at which the starting material is passed in vapor form through reaction vessels in which there are catalysts suitable for hydrogenation and dehydrogenation,
at temperatures between 500 and 800 C and approximately. Atmospheric pressure and with a flow rate which varies between 0.05 and 0.20 and between 0.10 and 0.50 liters of the liquid starting material per liter of effective catalyst volume per hour ..
In Switzerland. Patent specification No. 275431 describes a process for the practically complete conversion of liquid hydrocarbons boiling between 50 and 400 C, wholly or partly composed of non-aromatic hydrocarbons, into olefin-containing gases and aromatic hydrocarbons, in which the vaporized starting material is passed through a reaction vessel conducts., which with practically not.
Absorbent bodies made of non-metallic -, Nlate.- rial is filled, which at temperatures in the range of. about 1,000 C are heat-resistant, namely at a working temperature between 600 and 800 C, a pressure between about atmospheric pressure and atm. and a flow rate between 0.05 and 0.6 liters (measured as liquid) of the starting material per hour per liter of the reaction vessel volume.
This process is essentially based on two successive reactions, first. an octopus, which requires a lot of heat, and then a relatively slow aromatization, which is practically thermally neutral table. Although these reactions follow one another in the sense that cracking must begin before flavoring takes place, a considerable proportion of the cracked products are already aromatized in the inlet section of the reaction vessel.
The thermal conditions in the type of process (compare the explanations in British patent specification no. 575383) make it appear desirable to use a reaction vessel that has an input part in which the entire Cracking or at least the greater part of the cracking takes place and in which the ratio of surface area to volume is relatively large, and a subsequent part in which the aromatization is completed, but no or only little cracking takes place and in which the ver surface-to-volume ratio is relatively small.
Hereinafter. the entry section is called the Kraek section and the following section is called the flavoring section. The cracking section expediently consists of a tube with a diameter of 51 to 102 mm and the aroniatisation section of a tube with a diameter of 152 to 305 mm.
Ver searches were carried out for the purpose of increasing the passage quantum per reaction vessel and lengthening the passage time before it becomes necessary to interrupt operation for the separation of the coal deposited in the reaction vessel.
It was found that the presence. water vapor or carbon dioxide in the vaporous charge supplied to the reaction vessel only has a minor influence on the flavoring section. It has deposited coal, whereas these substances remove a considerable amount of coal deposited in the Kraek section. It was also found.
that a practically entirely aromatic liquid product is obtained if the Kraek section is packed with non-absorbent fillers, while the flavoring section does not contain any fillers. Here, by supplying a suitable amount of water vapor or carbon dioxide with the evaporated starting material, it is possible that the system can be used for very long periods, e.g. B. 400 hours and more, th arbei can until a regeneration by burning from the deposited coal is necessary.
Under such conditions, increased pressures and correspondingly larger throughputs are possible without the duration of a passage having to be significantly reduced ..
The invention thus provides a process for the practically complete conversion of liquid hydrocarbons with a boiling point between 50 and 400 C, which are wholly or mainly non-aromatic, into olefin-containing Cxase and aromatic hydrocarbons by cracking and aromatization, which is characterized by
that the starting material is evaporated and, with the addition of a small amount of a substance with the ability to oxidize coal deposited in the reaction vessel at the temperatures and pressures prevailing in the reaction chamber, passes through a reaction vessel at a temperature between 600 and 850 C, a pressure between atmospheric pressure and 10 atm. and with a transit speed between 0.0.5 and 2.0 liters per hour (measured as a liquid) per liter of the reaction vessel volume, the inlet section of the reaction vessel with practically no.
absorbable bodies filled. is, which consist of non-metallic material and are heat-resistant at temperatures of about 1000 C .. dig, while the remaining part of the reaction vessel contains no filler material.
The oxidizing agent, which is fed to the reaction vessel together with the vaporized starting material. is, z. B. '\\' 'water vapor or carbon dioxide and is expediently added in an amount between 0.1 and 2 percent by weight of the batch. Here, water vapor is preferred. because this leads to less contamination of the gaseous products with carbon dioxide.
It becomes two-knee at pressures between about 2 and 6 atoms, and temperatures between 650 and 780 C and with a flow rate between 0.3 and 1.5 liters (to be enjoyed as a liquid) of the acid raw material worked per hour per liter of the reaction vessel volume. The reaction vessel expediently has a 1 @ inlet or outlet.
Cracking section with a relatively large ratio of surface area to volume and a flavoring section with a relatively large ratio;
- small surface area to volume ratio. For example, the reaction vessel can have an inlet part, which is formed by a tube with a diameter of 51 to 102 minutes, during the following section. can consist of a pipe with a diameter of 152 to 305 mm.
The bodies used as filling material for the entrance part are expediently of such a size and shape that the empty space makes up about -15 to 501 / o of the total volume of the cracked section.
The following procedure can be used to determine whether the packing is practically non-absorbent: A number of test pieces are heated to a temperature of at least 120 C until no further weight loss occurs. The dried bodies are then immediately turned into cold Poured distilled water heated to you. The water is kept at the boiling point for one hour and then left to cool. Then the specimens are taken out, carefully wiped off with a dry cloth and weighed.
An absorption capacity of up to 50 mg water per cm3 material can be contested as permissible, although bodies which do not absorb more than 10 mg water per cm3 material are preferable.
The filling material must be heat-resistant at temperatures in the range of 1,000 C, it must not become soft, crumble or burn. It should resist a large number of oxidations for the purpose of burning off deposited coal. The filling material used has. expediently in the form of lumps, large or small balls or solid rings. Packing bodies made of vitreous or tightly fired, non-porous ceramic material, e.g. B. porcelain, earthenware, quartz, ge fused silica and the like.
The method according to the invention offers significant advantages insofar as it allows the use of higher pressures, allows greater passage speeds and at the same time allows the operating time to be extended far beyond the time that was possible with the previously known methods. By increasing the working pressure and the transit speed while maintaining the temperatures, there are no significant visual fluctuations in the composition of the liquid and gaseous products.
The most favorable values for pressure, temperature and throughput speed are considerably dependent on one another and also on the nature of the batch. For example, it is generally necessary to choose correspondingly high pressures and temperatures at a relatively high Durchgangsgeschwindig.
Furthermore, at a constant rate of passage, an increase or decrease in pressure generally requires a decrease or increase in temperature, or vice versa. There are, for example, good results under the following reaction conditions: a.) Temperature 700 ° C., pressure 2 atm_ flow rate 0.1 liters per hour per liter of reaction vessel volume.
b) temperature 700 ° C., pressure 4 atmospheres, flow rate 0.95 liters per hour per liter of reaction vessel volume.
c) Temperature 670 ° C., pressure 4 atm., flow rate 0.4 liters per hour per liter of reaction vessel volume.
It should be noted that the increase in the passage speed at constant temperature is not a proportional, but rather a greater increase in pressure.
The above-mentioned conditions are primarily suitable for starting material boiling up to 300 C. For higher batches, lower pressures and throughput speeds are generally appropriate when longer operating times are desired, e.g. B. a sohe of over 100 hours. Another advantage of the method according to the invention is that it, when carried out at a relatively high pressure and at a high throughput speed, results in a gaseous product with a very low acetylene content.
It is possible under at least 4 atm. Pressure and a flow rate of at least 0.9 liters per hour per liter of reaction vessel volume at a temperature between 680 and 700 C to keep the acetylene content of the gaseous produc tes below 0.01 percent by weight. At a pressure of 2Atm. and a throughput rate of 0.4 liters per hour per liter of reaction vessel volume and a temperature between 680 and 700.degree. the acetylene content of the gaseous product is about 0.05 percent by weight.
The reduction in acetylene gel content is an important benefit because. this facilitates the separation of pure ethylene from the gaseous product. The specified working temperatures apply to the main part of the reaction mixture, although the temperature at the entrance of the cracking section can of course be lower, e.g. B. between 500 and 550 C.
The specified pressures were measured at the entrance of the reaction vessel. As a rule, there is a drop in pressure in the reaction vessel. At an inlet pressure of 4.2 kg / cm2, a flow rate of 0.9 liters per hour per liter of reaction vessel volume, and a packing in the cracking section that leaves about 50 / o free space, a pressure drop of 0, was observed in the entire reaction vessel. 63 to 0.84 kg / cln2 measured.
With an inlet pressure of 2.1. kg / cm2, a flow rate of 0.4 liters per hour per liter of reaction vessel volume and the same filling as stated above, a third drop of 0.21 to 0.42 kg / cm2 was found. The pressure drop depends on the inlet pressure, the size of the reaction vessel, the shape of the filling material and the flow rate. but no significant influence on the results obtained.
The most important starting materials for the process according to the invention are petroleum distillates which boil between 50 and 400 ° C., in particular with fractions. a boiling point between 90 and 300 C. Other non-aromatic liquid hydrocarbons, e.g. B. the products of cracking @ and regeneration of natural mineral oils or their fractions, as well as liquid hydrocarbons obtained by synthetic procedural ren, z. B. by the Fiseher-Tropsch process, see also suitable as starting material.
When the process according to the invention is applied to a distillate boiling below 300 ° C., the yields of gaseous and liquid products are approximately the same if the starting material was obtained from paraffinic or naphthenic crude oils. The liquid product consists. in both cases almost entirely from aromatic hydrocarbons (benzene and polycyclic compounds).
The gaseous product contains the full range of paraffins and olefins from methane to betane and butenes along with. What is hydrogen, of which a significant proportion of valuable olefins. The gaseous product contains. also in small amounts of carbon monoxide and / or carbon dioxide, depending on whether the batch was added with water vapor or carbon dioxide.
Examples: The system used had a reaction vessel consisting of a tube 6.1 in length and 76 minutes inside diameter, which led into a tube 1.37 meters long and 228 ml inside diameter. The narrower tube, which forms the cracking of the reaction vessel, contained packing made of hard porcelain, which was obtained by smashing high voltage insulators.
The filler material was brought to the same size of approximately 12.7 ″ thick and 19 ″ wide. In the above-described water absorption test, this filler material gave an absorption number of 4. nig water per e1113 mate rial. The filled tube had a free space of about 50% of the Rolii volume. The wide tube of 228 mm.
Diameter formed the flavoring section and contained a filler material. The starting material used was kerosene from the Middle East on the one hand and naphtha from Texas on the other. In both cases, 0.6 percent by volume was used.
Water emulsified into the Kolilenwasserstoffgemiseh. The Geiniseh was then passed through a flux iron evaporator and converted into steam at 500 ° C., which was fed to the cracking section of the reaction vessel and from there to the attached aromatizing section. The products emerging from the latter section were cooled, fed to a condenser through a tar separator and collected in a receiver in which the liquid product was separated from the gases.
The products obtained were analyzed. The addition of water can be converted into an emulsion with the starting material in that the mixture is processed in an emulsifying machine or a homogenizer; on the other hand it was found to be sufficient to circulate the mixture by means of a pump and to feed the mixture to the evaporator from this circuit.

The liquid product. consisted of over 90% aromatic compounds. The purity of the benzene and toluene fractions obtained from the kerosene was 94% and 961 / o, respectively, while that from Texas naphtha. The corresponding fractions obtained had a purity of 92 or 940 / a.
Another experiment with kerosene from the Middle East was carried out under similar conditions, using carbon dioxide instead of water vapor as the oxidizing agent. The C0. was introduced into the batch between the evaporator and the reaction vessel in an amount of about 1 percent by weight of the batch. The operating time was 200 hours. The results were approximately the same as reported in Column 1 above, but the gaseous product contained about 0.7 percent by weight of C0 and a similar amount of C0.
The experiments were stopped before the apparatus was blocked by deposited soot. An examination of the plant showed that it would probably have been possible to extend the tests to twice the duration without having to worry about blockages.
The process according to the invention can advantageously be carried out in a reaction vessel, as shown schematically in the accompanying drawing.
The drawing shows. on average. a ver vertical oven 10, in which a number of Re action vessels 14 are arranged along the oven sides. A similar apparatus is described in more detail in Swiss patent specification No. 277656.
Each reaction vessel 14 consists. from a relatively narrow tube 15, which merges into a relatively wide tube 16, the narrow part forming the cracking section and the large part forming the flavoring section. Part 15 is with. Filled filler material, while part 1.6 contains no filler material. Has expedient. the part 15 has a length of 4.6 to 7.65 and a diameter of 51 to 102 mm, and the part 16 a length of 1.2 to 3.6 m and a diameter of 152 to 305 mm.
The reaction vessels 1.4 are the steam. shaped charge fed through the tubes 38, which are guided through the channels 40 and 41 at the upper end of the furnace 10. Each reaction vessel 14 is provided at the lower end with an outlet pipe 42 and a valve 43, and all outlet pipes 42 open into the pipeline 44. The nozzle 45 is used to inject a cooling agent.
The furnace is heated by the burner 11 at the top of the furnace. The combustion gases leave the furnace at the lower end through the vent 12. The annular channel 17 is provided with a number of nozzles 18, 19 through which cooling gases are fed to regulate the temperature in the lower furnace part can.
Carbon dioxide or Steam or water can be fed to the vaporous charge at a suitable point between the evaporators and the furnace through the tubes 38 under pressure. In order to regulate the one. L @ lessvorriehtung-eri can be built in according to quantities.
As mentioned in the examples, water can also be added to the liquid charge prior to evaporation.
Although it is preferred to carry out the process according to the invention in straight, tubular reaction vessels, the Kraekabsehnit.t und'or the following aromatization section can also consist of coiled tubes. The heating section and the flavoring section can also be heated in separate ovens.
