Inductor device for heating by high frequency current. The main patent relates to an inductor device for heating by high frequency current.
According to the claim of the main patent, this device, which comprises a circuit through which this high-frequency current flows and which is arranged near the part or parts to be heated, is characterized in that the density of the current is distributed non-uniformly between this circuit, this density being higher in the neighboring parts of the regions of the room or of the rooms to be heated having to undergo the greatest rise in temperature.
The object of the present invention is to improve this device, in particular to give it the form of a compact device, which is particularly advantageous in applications for heating the edge of a blade.
According to the invention, this device is characterized by a transformer comprising a primary consisting of a cylindrical winding surrounded by a secondary formed by a hollow cylinder in which a slot is formed along a generator, the secondary circuit being closed by a conductor of small cross section, joining the two edges of said slot and connected between two points, respectively located at the two ends of said generator.
The invention will be better understood with the aid of the description which follows, given in conjunction with the accompanying drawings in which FIG. 1a and 1b respectively represent schematic views in elevation and in section of an example of the device according to the invention.
Fig. 2a is a perspective view showing constructional details of the same device.
Fig. 2b shows the section along A -B of part of FIG. 211.
In fig. 1, the primary a of the transformer consists of a helical winding having no particular character. The secondary b is formed of a single cylindrical coil enveloping the primary and strongly coupled with it.
The ends of this secondary are in the form of a slot following a generatrix of the cylinder. At these ends, on either side of the slot, are welded two plane conductive edges c and d which constitute the part of the inductor with low current density. The part of the high density inductor is formed by the rod e which closes the secondary circuit and which is connected between the points f and g of the parts c, d, longitually opposed points.
Blade h has its wafer to be treated strongly coupled with e and its faces coupled with c and d.
The figure shows the direction of travel of the inducing currents at a given point.
It will be noted that, due to the connection device used for part e of the inductor, the currents in parts c and d are in the same direction and in opposite direction with the current in e, as on all the path of parts c and d the sum of the currents in these parts is constant and equal to the current in e.
The inequality of the currents in the parts c and d for the portions situated face to face outside the central part, where the currents are equal, does not present any disadvantage especially in the case where the blade runs through the inductor.
In fig. 2a and 2 ", we find in a the connecting bars of the transformer primary with the output terminals of the power supply generator, in b one of the outputs of the primary through the flange c in insulating material, in d the coil cylindrical secondary at the ends of which are welded the parts e and f, parts of the inductor with low current density. At one end of each of these parts are welded the supports cg and h which connect and carry the i part of the high current density inductor.
These supports are provided with windows j and k framed by insulating material, such as ceramic or molten quartz, serving as a guide for the blade 1, shown only in the view in chopped off. Additional guides m, n in insulating material, also shown on the sectional view, held by parts e, f, are provided to prevent the blade from floating inside the inductor.
Iniquitous water circulation, the path of which is indicated by arrows at the inlet and outlet of the cooling tubes adapted to the inductor parts in the vicinity of the blade to be heated, allows the assembly to be cooled. Connection tubes are not shown.
