Slider closure. The present invention relates to a slide closure, presenting. two bands provided with two series of closing elements intended to lock each other.
Various models of fasteners intended to facilitate the complete separation of the bands of the slide fasteners have already been proposed hitherto. Such closures include. generally two separate parts, a retainer attached to. the end (the one of the strips of the closure and a pin attached to the end of the other strip of the closure, the. pin being. removable in the retaining sleeve, so as to keep the two bands at one end of the zipper; the retaining sleeve pin can be removed by passing it through the slider so that the two zipper bands can be completely separated.
In closures of this kind, it is only possible to completely separate the two bands when the slider is placed in its extreme position near the bare rete sleeve. In addition, such closures can only be opened from the end opposite to that where the removable assembly system is located.
Although known closures of this kind have been found to be very practical in some applications, it is. however, it is desirable, particularly in the case of a long garment, to be able to close the lower part of the zipper while keeping the upper part or the central part open, so as to give ease around the hips and waist of the person wearing a garment provided with such a closure; this possibility is particularly desirable to facilitate access to the trouser pockets and when the person is in a seated position.
The slide closure according to the invention is characterized in that it comprises a longitudinal pin disposed at the end of one of the bands near the end closure elements carried by the latter, a second longitudinal pin similar to the first and arranged at the end of the other band and near the end closure elements carried by the latter, a sleeve made up of two spaced plates, one at the front and the other at the rear , connected together near their outer ends by a spacer wedge and having flanges on their outer edges, so as to form between them a channel having substantially the shape of a Y,
these two pins being arranged so as to be removable in this channel and capable of being introduced by one end therein, one of the pins carrying means intended to cooperate with the sleeve to prevent it ci to move beyond the end of the closure where the pins are located, said sleeve being movable along the closure elements by disengaging from the pins so as to open the closure from that end , and means carried by the socket and intended for. lock it at any point along the closure.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, one embodiment of the. closing slider object of the invention.

Fig. 10 is an enlarged plan view similar to that of FIG. 5; it shows pins of the removable assembly device with the retaining sleeve in a partially open position.
Fig. 11 is a plan view of the iron meture and shows one of the pins disengaged from the retaining sleeve.
Fig. 13 is a rear view of the removable retaining sleeve in its fully closed position.
The slider closure shown in, fig. 1 comprises a series of regularly spaced closure elements 2, intended to interlock with each other and fixed to opposing beads of the edges of the strips 3 of the closure. A slider -1 is arranged on these two series of closing elements, it comprises a pull tab 5 articulated on it; this ti rette allows the cursor to be moved longitudinally along the length of the closing elements, so as to open or close the closing device.
This slider consists of a wedge-posed body of two spaced plates, folded towards each other on their opposite edges (fig. 6) and connected to each other. their upper part by means of a spacer block 23 before sensibly, the shape of a V; a Y-shaped channel is thus produced inside the cursor through which pass the elements of iron meture when they lock or unlock rust.
All the closure elements are identical and symmetrical and the two closure bands can be engaged or disengaged by moving the slider in either direction, regardless of the position of the slider in relation to the fastener. closing elements.
An elongated pin 12 is fixed on the bead of one of the bands, directly under the end closure elements 2a of this band, while another pin 13, similar to, la. pin 12, is attached to the bead, the other band and. near the extreme closing elements 2b of the latter. The pin 1.2 is tight around the bead of the band and abuts against the last closure element (fig. 1, 10 and 11).
The upper end of the pin 12 is ereusée so as to. form a notch 15 intended for. receive the coupling end of the end closure element 2b of the other strip. The two pins 12 and 1.3 form a certain angle between them and are curved outwards at their lower end, so as to facilitate handling, as will be seen a little further on.
At the upper end of the pin 12 and on the inside thereof is a fork 16 which forms the outer wall of the notch 15 and which is directed upwards and towards the outside of this notch; the end of this fork is thus disposed approximately exactly under the outer end of the coupling portion of the end closure element 2a. The pin 13 fixed to the bead of the other strip abuts against the end closure element 2b of this strip.
This pin 13 carries at its upper end a finger 1.7 directed upwards and outwardly relative to the pin and whose end abuts against the end of the coupling portion of the end element closure 2b, so as to support it (fig. 8 and 11). At an intermediate point between the two ends of the pin 13 is, on the inside thereof, a tenon 18 intended to cooperate with a shoulder 19 provided on the surface facing the pin 12. for a purpose and in a manner which will be explained a little later.
The pins 12 and 13 are housed in a removable retaining socket 20 which includes two spaced apart plates, a front plate 21 and a rear plate 22 (Fig. 3) interconnected to. their lower end by means of a wedge-spacer 23 (fig. 6) and comprising side shoulders 2.1 which form, with the wedge-spacer 23 and between the two plates, a channel 25 having substantially the shape of a < B> Y whose branches diverge downwards.
The back plate 22 of the socket 20 Extends upward a little further than the front plate. 21, as seen in 26, forming. a cavity 27 of substantially rectangular shape disposed at the upper end of the plate and intended to receive and place in. the desired place the lower end of the cursor 4 when it is brought near the sleeve 20 for a purpose which will be described and explained below.
Provision has also been made on the rear plate 22 of the sleeve 20, a longitudinal cavity 28 (fig. 7 and 8) which terminates, at an intermediate point along the length of the sleeve 20, in another offset cavity and in an opening 29 (fi-. 4-), intended for. receiving a locking tooth, and communicating with the Y-shaped channel 25.
An opening 30 intended to receive a locking piston extends from then the lower end of the cavity 28 and through the spacer 23 of the sleeve 20; up to a cavity 31 of substantially rectangular shape provided on the outer face of the plate 21..
A locking arm 32 (Fig. 7) extending in the length direction of the closure is placed in the. cavity 28 of the rear plate 22 of the socket 20; This rusting worm arm features a locking finger! 33 slightly offset and disposed at its upper end; this finger engages in the opening 29 and also in the channel 25 of the sleeve 20.
A locking piston 34 is fixed, preferably by riveting, to the lower end of the locking arm 32; this locking piston 34 (Fig. 8) passes through the opening 30 of the spacer 23 and extends to the rectangular cavity 31 of the front plate 31. At the outer end of the piston of Lock 34 is arranged a pusher 35 in the form of a rectangular plate which fits inside the cavity 31 of the front plate 21.
A coil spring 36 is disposed in the cavity 31 and around the outer end of the locking piston 34, between the lower wall of the cavity 31 and the inner face of the pusher 35. It can be seen that, thanks to In this arrangement, the pusher 35 controlling the locking arm is constantly pushed outwards into its locking position, the locking finger 33 thus being constantly pushed into the channel 25 of the socket 20, so as to worm, rust the latter in the position which will now be described.
Towards the middle of the pin 12 is an opening 37 for receiving the locking finger 33 of the arm 32 for the purpose of locking the sleeve 20 at the lower end of the closure (fig. 1, 4, 11 and 12) and to prevent any unwanted movement of the sleeve 20 upwards and along the iron.
If it is desired to open the closure from its lower end by means of the sleeve 20, it suffices to press the pusher 35 towards the interior of the cavity 31, compressing the spring 36 so as to pass the locking arm. 32 in the unlocked position and to release the locking finger 33, carried by the arm 32, from the opening 37 of the pin 12, as seen from the dotted lines in FIG. 6; the locking finger 33 not being phis engaged in the pin 12 no longer prevents the sleeve 20 from moving freely by hand upwards and along the closure, so as to cause the reciprocal unlocking of the closure elements 2 .
When the sleeve has been moved to the desired position along the closure, the pressure on the pusher 35 is stopped and the worm arm 32 is thus allowed to return to the locking position under the action of the spring 36 , the locking finger 33 then being placed in the space between two elements adja cents \? of the closure (fig. 5, 6, 9 and 1.0), so as to. prevent any untimely displacement of the sleeve 20 along the iron meture.
It can be seen that, when the socket 20 has been unlocked and that it is moved upwards along the closure in order to open the latter, the two pins are released from each other and pass: at. through the respective divergent branches of the channel 25 of the sleeve 20 at the same time as the closure elements 2 arranged above; pins 12 and 13 are released. one from the other under the action of the spacer 23 acting as a wedge, at the same time as the closing elements passing through the respective diverging branches of the channel of the sleeve 20. When the handle is thus operated. sleeve, it therefore acts as a cursor and opens or closes the closure in the direction in which it is moved.
It can be seen, on the other hand, that the sleeve 20 acts. also as a retaining member for pins 12 and 13 when it is at the lower end of the closure (fig. 1, 4, 11 and 12). The bush 20 cannot move beyond this extreme lower position due to the fact that bulging parts 3S are provided on each side of the pin 1. '?, at the lower end thereof, and that these swollen parts are slightly wider than the channel 25 of the sleeve 20; the pin 12 therefore cannot completely pass through the sleeve 0 when the latter is brought to its lowest position where it abuts against the bulging parts 38.
The lower end of a branch of the channel 25 is hollowed out at 39, so as to. form a shoulder 40 (Fig. 2) against which. are intended to abut the swollen parts 38. It can be seen that, thanks to this arrangement, the lower ends of the pins can be housed completely inside the socket and. that the lower end of the closure is thus clean and even. In other words, the bulges 38 act as stops and secure the socket 20 in the correct position that it should have when it is at the bottom of the. closing.
If you want to separate the bands of the closure completely from one another, drag the cursor 4 downwards and. it is brought near the sleeve 20, the lower end of the cursor penetrating into the cavity 27 which ensures a correct position of a channel 8 of the cursor by keeping it aligned with the channel 25 of the sleeve. Pin 13 is then moved upwards, so as to exit from channel 25 of the sleeve, then from channel 8 of the slider, and thus complete separation of the two bands of the closure (Fig. 11).
If you want to assemble the two strips of the. closing, we proceed in the opposite way, that is to say we completely introduce the. pin 13 in socket 20, and the cursor can then be moved upwards.
and along the closure to again interlock the closure elements. It can be seen that, when the two bands are coupled with the sleeve 20 '. Fig. 1 and 3), the lower end of the pin 13 is located in one of the divergent branches of the channel 2 5 of the sleeve 20, so say that! - the lower end of the pin 12 is disposed in the other branch diverges from this channel. In this position, the non-point 18 of the pin 13 abuts against the underside of the shoulder 19 of the pin 12.
One of the roles of the tenon 18 acting in cooperation with the shoulder 19 is to prevent any longitudinal movement of the pins 12 and. 13 relative to each other and relatively. to the extreme elements of iron meture of the two bands. The tenon 18 also has the role of constituting an obstacle iriterpos6 in front of the closure elements 2 (the opposite strip and of preventing the closure from closing in the event that the pin 13 does not occupy its correct position in the channel. of the socket with its tenon 18 positioned WE the shoulder 19.
We see that in this assembly the finger. 17 placed at the upper end of the pin 13 is placed between the teeth of the fork 16 of the pin 12: with the coupling end of the end closure element 2b engaged in the slot 1.5 and. behind the fork 16. It can also be seen that, in this position, the upper end of the fork 16 is engaged at the eontaet of the end closure element 2b at Lin point located immediately above the pin 13.
The fork 16 is also intended, in cooperation with the finger 1.7, to prevent any transverse movement of the two pins relative to one another. the other at their upper ends, but the most important purpose of this arrangement is to link the upper ends of the bush and pins to the end closure elements 2ca and 2b, key so as to prevent any displacement. deny. key these in relation to the beads of the bands and the pins when one. tries to bend the closure in the vicinity of these extreme elements.
It can also be seen that the fork 16, thanks to its engagement with the end closure element 2b, prevents the latter from turning relative to the key bead, the strip and to the pin 13.
It emerges from the foregoing that not only is the slide closure capable of being opened by one or the other of its ends, but also that the two bands of this closure can be completely separated. 'from each other.
