Telescopic mast crane. The present invention relates to cranes, such as those used on construction sites, in which the mast of the crane is vertical and adjustable in height as and when required.
Cranes are known comprising a telescopic mast consisting of tubular elements sliding one inside the other, these elements being able to be lifted hydraulically. Such a construction is extremely complicated and expensive and, moreover, unless the lower elements are given an inadmissible diameter, it does not make it possible to ensure sufficient rigidity for the mast. It must be reinforced by numerous shrouds, which considerably hinders maneuvers in the vicinity of the crane.
The crane according to the invention is characterized in that its mast is formed by elements in the form of hollow parallelepipeds sliding one inside the other, provided with respective guide means on their vertical edges.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, an embodiment of the invention. Fig. 1 is a general elevational view of this embodiment, at the maximum height position of its mast.
Fig. 2 shows a mast with three elements in the folded position.
Fi-. 3 shows it in the fully developed position.
Fi-. 4 is a plan view on a large scale cl u mast according to FIG. 1 and 2. Fig. 5 is a detail section on a large scale through a vertical plane passing through the diagonal of the square of the horizontal profile of the mast.
Fig. 6 to 8 are sections along VI-VI, VII-VII, VIII-VIII (fig. 5 ) respectively, the sectional plane of fig. 5 being indicated at V-V in fig. 8.
Fig. 9 to 11 are detail views in section through a horizontal plane indicating three possible variants in the respective guiding of the telescopic elements on one another.
Fig. 12 shows the telescopic mast of the crane in the fully folded state and lying horizontally on a hitched trailer.
Fig. 13 similarly shows the base of this crane mounted on a road axle and coupled behind a tractor truck.
Fig. 14 shows the first phase of assembly, the mast having been articulated to the base and having received the counter-jib, but the latter having not yet been erected perpendicular to the mast.
Fig. 15 shows the parts after dressing the counter-jib.
Fig. 16 shows the parts after articu lation of the jib to the mast.
Fig. 17 shows them after partial lifting of the mast and fixing of the jib.
Fig. 18 shows the entire mounted crane, the mast having remained in the lowest position. Fig. 19 very schematically indicates the respective position of the parts at the maximum height position of the mast.
The crane shown in fig. 1 comprises a base 1, mounted on wheels, as shown, or supported in any other way. On this base is mounted a first iron frame element 2, to. square section, consisting of four uprights joined to each other by appropriate braces. Inside the element 2 can slide a second element 3, of similar construction, but of slightly smaller horizontal dimensions. Likewise, in the element 3 can slide an element 4 in which can in turn slide an element 5. The set of elements 2, 3, 4, 5 carries out the telescopic mast at the top of which the boom 6 is articulated. of the crane.
All these elements are suitably guided one inside the other, so that their whole has the desired lateral rigidity, without it being necessary for this to be haubanner. In addition, means are provided for raising each of the elements relative to the other during the unfolding of the mast, without needing to resort to a fitter climbed on the mast and forced to exert a lifting force. at a great height above the ground.
It is understood that the number of elements 2 to 5 can be arbitrary. In fig. 1 shows four elements, but less or more could be provided. In fig. 2 to 4, to simplify the drawing, we do not have. on the contrary shown only three elements, but all the explanations which can be given with reference to these figures would also apply mutatis mu while for any other number of such elements. In these figs. 2 to 4 the lower element 2 comprises at its upper part two pulleys 7, while the next element 3 comprises at its lower part two pulleys 8.
Likewise, element 3 carries two pulleys 9 at its upper part, while element 4 carries a single pulley 10 and an attachment point 11 for a cable 12 which, not alternately on a pulley 9, under the pulley 10 and on the second pulley 9, ash, passes under a pulley 8, over a pulley 7, under the second pulley 8, over the second pulley 7 and. descends to pass over a fixed return pulley 13 from where it goes to an appropriate maneuvering winch not shown.
All. this arrangement of pulleys and cables described with reference to one of the sides of the mast is exactly repeated on the opposite side as shown in fig. 4. The two cables go to a double winch which allows them to be maneuvered in strict synchronism.
The traction of the cable 12 forces the zigzag pulleys on each element to come closer to one another. In other words, if we consider the elements 2 and 3, the traction of the cable 12 tends to bring the pulleys 8 of the pulleys 7, that is to say to raise the element 3 relative to the 'item 2.
Finally, therefore, the maneuvering of the two cables 12 ensures the development of the entire mast. from the ground without having to climb on it, as in known positions.
To prevent the successive elements from developing in any order, means are provided for locking them with rust with each other and. to release them as and when needed. For example, we can first lock element 2 to element 3 and let element 4 develop alone. Once this development is complete, we will lock. said element 4 to element 3 and elements 2 and 3 will be unlocked from one another. We can then raise all of the elements 3 and 4 in relation. to the element. 2, then finally lock element 2 with element 3 when the development movement is complete. In this way all the locks are done on the ground, without having to resort to. a slope tank specialist.
Of course, it is necessary for the various telescopic elements to be exactly guided with respect to each other, for their respective development movement to be limited, so as to avoid any incident, and finally for the locking devices liable to bind them together. to each other help to ensure the rigidity of the mast. In the example shown, all this is obtained as follows (fig. 5 to 8).
If we consider the lower element of the mast. it consists of four uprights in the form of an angle, which have been designated by 2 in FIG. 5 to 8 so as to correspond to fig. 1 to 5. These angles 2 have the angle of their profile in the direction of the center of the profile of the element. Each of them is associated with two other irons 14 having a profile in the form of a right angle with the end 14a of one of the sides folded outwardly at 90. If we consider one of these 14 irons (fig. 6). its wing with a non-folded end is applied against a wing of the angle iron 2 and is fixed to it by rivets such as 15.
Its other wing extends in the extension of the second wing of the angle iron 2, while the folded edge 14a of this other wing is directed towards the inside of the profile of the element.
The uprights 14 are joined to each other by braces 16 capable of having any suitable arrangement, for example obliquely and of crossing one another, as shown in FIG. 1 to 5, or on the contrary by crossing each other in the shape of an X, in the manner known in the metal framework.
The second part of the mast is made exactly like the previous one. Its uprights have been designated by 3: longitudinal in the form of an angle iron, its other parts bearing exactly the same references as for the first element, which dispenses with any additional explanation. It is dimensioned in such a way that the ends of each angle iron 3 slide by their inner faces against the corresponding folded edges 14u of the element 2. It is understood that this ensures perfect guidance of the element 3 to the interior of the element 2, by simple means, requiring no mechanical machining.
Up the item. outside 2 we probed in the free space located between the two bars 14 of each corner of the element a small horizontal plate 17 (fig. 5 and 7), however that towards the bottom of the next element 3 we have welded in the interior angle of the horn 3 a clean iron 18 to abut against the sheet 17. It is understood that when the element 3 rises relative to the element 2, its movement is limited by the stop of the iron 1.8 against the sheet 17, which avoids any risk of untimely release of one element from the other. In addition, at the very top of the outer element 2, a block 19 (FIGS. 5 and 8) has been welded between the irons 14, the free face of which is cut in a bevel inclined downwards.
In the angle 3 of the second element, a profiled block 20 has also been welded so as to fit exactly against the block 19 when the stop 18 has come to bear against the sheet 17. Due to the bevel cutting, the two blocks 19 and 20 perform a kind of wedging ensuring the centering of the two elements relative to each other and absorbing the inevitable games. The two blocks 19 and 20 are also perforated to receive the same transverse bolt 21 which ensures the locking of the two elements considered with one another at the position of maximum development.
Of course, the block 20 is dimensioned so as to be able to pass in line with the sheet 17 so as not to hinder the sliding movement of the two elements.
A similar arrangement can be provided to allow locking of the two elements in the folded position.
In the variant of fig. 9 the uprights 2 are shaped stepped bars (profile constituted by the juxtaposition of two successive right angles). The irons 14 associated with them: are simple angles, one wing of which is tight against one of the outer wings of the iron 2, while the other wing develops in the extension of the side of the right angle of the profile of the closest iron 2.
The second element is established in the same way, but on one of the intermediate wings of the iron 3 is welded a pin 22 on which is mounted a roller 23 whose peripbérig rolls against one of the intermediate wings of the iron 2, while the face abuts against the other intermediate wing of this shoe. It is understood that here again the four rollers 23 associated with the second element ensure the guiding of this element with reduced friction, since a good part of the forces is. transmitted by rolling faces. The arrangement of fig. 10 allows all of the forces to be transferred between the two elements by rollers.
In this arrangement, the upright 2 has a complex profile consisting of two outer wings at 90 and a sort of intermediate U , the veil of which is at 45 from the two aforementioned wings. The roller 23 is mounted around an axis 22 carried by a bracket 24 arranged at 45 relative to the sides of the two elements considered, so that this roller 23 comes to roll at the bottom of the part in U </ B > the profile of the iron 2.
Fi (. 11 shows an arrangement in which the guiding of the two elements is effected by sliding surfaces. Item 2 considered is constituted by a set of two angles at. 45 "associated so as to achieve an angle straight, the two intermediate wings clamping between them a flat iron 25 intended to act as a rail.
As shown, iron 25 extends only about 1a. half of the. length of the two oblique wings and these wings diverge slightly. beyond. iron, so as to constitute a sort of lateral guide which, as regards the second element, serves to retain the iron 25 of the first element, the two irons 25 in presence thus sliding against each other , as can be seen from the figure.
Whatever the way in which the guiding of the elements is carried out, in the assembled state (fig. 12 and 13) the. crane is divided into two main elements, namely, on the one hand, the mast, telescope 2, 3, 4, 5, consisting of a certain number of elements (four in the example shown), on the other part, the base 1.
The mast 2, 3, 4, 5 (Fig. 12) is lying horizontally on a trailer 26, its elements being at the. layout tucked into each other, that is to say in the minimum space requirement. To the mast are attached the jib and the crane against the boom, which can be assumed to be carried by the truck 27 to which the trailer 26 is coupled. Of course the mast 2, 3, 4, 5 is. provided with a system of lifting cables of the type described above with reference to fi-. 2 to 4, and which has not been shown so as not to unnecessarily complicate the drawing.
The pedestal 1. is provided with wheels with clear chin 28 (fig. 13) in order to be able to drive on a suitable track provided on the site, but to allow transport on the road, it is mounted on a road axle 29, for example. provided with pneumatic wheels 30, and it is hitched to. a truck 31. This base com carries devices, not shown, blocking cage on the rails on which the wheels 28 are called to roll. It also contains the appropriate winches to ensure the lifting of the loads and the lifting of the mast.
It comprises at one end the usual box 32 intended to be filled with heavy materials to form a counterweight when using the mounted crane, this box being able to receive a lifting goat (which one small suppose carried by the truck 31) and whose. we will see the use later. Finally it also comprises, of course, a base for receiving the mast 2, 3, 4, 5 and this base is shaped so that the mast can vote on it around a transverse axis; for example the. Fixing of the mast to the base can be ensured by transverse bolts of which at least two are in the extension, one of the other in the immediate vicinity of the transverse side of the base opposite to the box 32.
To assemble the crane thus constituted, the base 1 is brought onto the track on which the crane will have to move, it is supported there by jacks, the wheels 30 are removed and the base is lowered to make it rest on the rails 33 (fig. 14) of the track by means of the wheels 28. A goat 34 is mounted in place on the trunk 32. Then the trailer 26 is brought carrying the mast 2, 3, 4, 5 so as to engage the lower end of the first element of this mast on the base and this end is articulated to the base carried by said base.
The counter-beam 35 is then presented in the inverted state and it is articulated at the top of the mast by a transverse bolt. A cable 36 is moored at the end of the goat which is passed over the goat 34 and which is attached to one of the winches of the base. By starting this winch, the counter-jib 35 is raised which can be raised perpendicularly to the mast (position of FIG. 15). At this moment it is fixed in position by its shrouds such as 37 and the cable 36 can be detached.
We then bring the jib 38 (fig. 1.6) and we articulate it at the top of the mast by a transverse bolt.
We have, on the other hand, firmly, the top of the mast 2, 3, 4, 5 to the goat 34 by means of a cable 39, the end of which is harnessed to. a winch from the base 1. By starting this winch, you can raise it gradually. the mast. When this lifting has reached a certain degree (fig. 17), the boom 38, the free end of which slipped on the ground, is perpendicular to the still strongly oblique mast. The lifting movement is then stopped and the jib is fixed in position by a shroud such as 40. On the other hand, the trailer 26 can be released, which has become unnecessary.
We then resume the lifting movement of the mast which is gradually brought to the. vertical (fig. 18). It is fixed to it by guy ropes such as 41. The crane is then ready to enter service. In the most common case where it is brought to the site at the start (during construction, we can start using it in the low position of the mast and raise it as and when required). has the advantage that the load and reach limitations due to the height of the mast are hardly involved during the whole first part of the work.
I'ig. 19 shows, as an indication, the crane with the mast at its greatest height and it clearly shows the various horizontal planes A, B, C "and D in which one can locate the boom as the construction progresses by raising the mast element by element.
