Method and device for controlling the flow conditions in a multistage axial compressor. Multi-stage axial compressors are usually built in such a way that they have the best efficiency at a certain speed or a certain characteristic value which is dependent on the speed. The blades of all stages of the compressor must be adapted to this by selecting the characteristic blade, such as the angle of attack and the blade shape, for example in such a way that the fluid to be compressed when operating at the specific speed or the specific characteristic value that is dependent on the speed in order to obtain a certain, constant axial speed.
The angle of attack at which the blades operate at any given speed is determined by the axial velocity of the fluid and the exit direction of the stator blades. At speeds lower than the nominal speed, if the pressure increase per stage is smaller than the nominal pressure increase, there is a tendency to an acceleration of the flow from the inlet to the outlet of the compressor, because the nominal ratio of the total density is not reached. This acceleration shows in a reduction in the axial flow velocity at the inlet and in an increase in the axial flow velocity at the outlet.
Where the axial flow velocity is lower than the nominal axial velocity, the angle of incidence is so large that the flow breaks off here. On the other hand, where the axial flow velocity is greater than the nominal axial velocity, the angle of attack of the blades becomes small, possibly negative, so that the blade uzz does not contribute anything to the pressure increase.
At speeds greater than the nominal speed, if the pressure increase per stage is greater than the nominal pressure increase, there is a tendency to delay the flow from the inlet of the compressor to its outlet, because the nominal ratio of the total density is exceeded .
This delay shows. This results in an increase in the axial flow speed above the nominal speed at the inlet and a decrease in the same at the outlet. As a result, any deviation from the nominal speed or the characteristic value dependent on this speed in an axial compressor causes a deterioration in the efficiency of the MT. The characteristic value dependent on the speed is the expression n n and is referred to as the corrected speed, where n is the speed of the compressor and I 'the absolute' temperature at the inlet of the compressor.
In order to enable the operation of a multistage axial flow compressor within a wide speed range with good efficiency, it was proposed to provide at least one ring of adjustable guide vanes. Such an axial compressor with adjustable guide vanes is described in greater detail, for example, in Swiss patent specification No. 287975.
The object of the present invention is to provide a method and a device for controlling the flow conditions in such compressors in order to enable the maintenance of a good compression efficiency over a wide speed range.
According to the inventive method for controlling the flow conditions in a multistage axial compressor with at least one ring of adjustable guide vanes, the setting angle of the guide vanes is automatically changed over at least part of the speed range of the compressor as a function of at least the speed of the compressor that changes within the regulation range .
The control device, which is also the subject of the invention, for carrying out said method has means for automatically changing the setting angle of the adjustable guide vanes within at least a part of the speed operating range of the compressor, depending on changes in the compressor speed.
The control device according to the invention is particularly suitable for controlling the flow conditions in multistage axial compressors of gas turbine systems. Such systems often have a saw disk pump with a variable delivery rate, the rotor of which is designed in such a way that the pump can act as a centrifugal pump for the purpose of delivering pressure fluid to a control device, which acts as a maximum-limiting controller for the fuel supply and thus also for the speed of the Plant works.
Some embodiments of the control device according to the invention in application to a gas turbine system with a multi-stage axial compressor are shown in the accompanying drawings. The method according to the invention will also be explained, for example, on the basis of this drawing.
Fig.1 shows schematically an Axialkom compressor with adjustable guide vanes. FIG. 2 is a section through a first example of the control device for the compressor according to FIG.
Fig. 3 shows a second example of the control device.
Fig. 4 shows in section a third example of the control device, and Fig. 5 shows in section another example of the control device.
In Fig. 1 a gas turbine system is Darge, which has a multi-stage axial compressor 10, a combustion device 11 for receiving compressed air from the compressor 10 and a turbine 12 receiving combustion gases from the device 10, which drives the compressor 10 by means of a shaft 10.
The fuel to be burned in the compressed air is fed to the combustion device 11 by a fuel feed device of known design. The latter has a swash plate pump 14 which can be driven by the system (FIGS. 1 and 2), which pump has a rotor 15 with a number of cylinders or bores in which pistons 16 are arranged. The latter are moved back and forth when the pump rotor 15 rotates against the action of springs 17 and consequently suck fuel from the purchase line 18 of the pump 14 and promote it through a feed line 19 to the system.
The pump drive through the machine is. in Fif, _-. 1 marked with 20 ..
The pump rotor 15 has. a central bore 21, which from the suction line, 1 of the pump to a number of inclined bores ?? leads, which connect the central bore 21 with a chamber '' 3 in which the pump rotor 15 is arranged. The rotor 15 acts as a centrifugal pump, and the pressure in the chamber 23 \ is a function of the engine speed and thus the speed of the compressor 10.
The multi-stage axial compressor 10 has one or more blade rings of adjustable guide vanes. Two wreaths with blades 24a and 24b are shown. The blades forming the corresponding ring are connected to one another in such a way that they can be adjusted at the same time. Each guide vane is provided with an actuating arm 25, which are engaged with a notched ring 26, which ring is rotatably net angeord in the stator housing of the compressor 10 in order to be able to pivot the arms 25 of a blade ring at the same time.
So that the compressor can work in a large speed range with good efficiency, it is desirable that the setting angle of the guide vanes 24a, 24b can be changed so that it results in a good compressor efficiency at every compressor speed. The arrangement is therefore such that when the compressor speed changes, the setting angle of the guide vanes 24a, 24b also changes.
For this purpose, for example, the following configuration of the adjustment mechanism for the guide vanes can be provided: An adjustable guide vane 24a or 24b of each vane ring is connected to a hydraulic servo device 30 (FIGS. 1 and 2). This device has a cylinder 31, an actuating piston 32 arranged in the cylinder 31 and a control device 33, the position of the piston 32 in the cylinder 31 being determined by the speed of the machine.
Since the position of the piston 32 in the cylinder 31 determines the setting angle of the corresponding guide vanes 24a, 24b, the setting angle of these guide vanes 24u, 24b corresponds to the engine speed.
The cylinder 31 has a pair of inner sleeves 34, 35 which are in engagement with the piston rod 32u so that the piston rod is guided in these sleeves. The piston 3 itself is arranged in half the length of the piston rod 32a and between the sleeves 34 and 35, so that the sleeves act as Hubbegren tongues for the piston. The piston rod 32a is hollow and is connected to the cylinder chamber 37 on one side of the piston 32 through the bore 36. In this way, the end face of the piston 32 facing the cylinder chamber 37 is larger than the piston end face of the piston side facing the cylinder chamber 38.
The cylinder 31 has a supply line 39 for pressure fluid, which is connected to the delivery line 19 of the swash plate pump 14 maschinengetrie enclosed in the present example. Bores 40, 41 lead from the line 39 to the Rätunen 37, 38, on each side of the piston 32, the bore 40 opens into the space 37., which is on the piston side with a larger end face, and has a flow throttle 42, the purpose of which is described in more detail below.
The control device 33 of the piston 32 is net angeord at the cylinder end lying on the piston side with the larger end face. This control device has a chamber divided by a membrane 45 into two compartments 43, 44. The compartment 43, which is closer to the cylinder 31, is through a line 46 with. the suction line 18 of the fuel pump 14 is connected. The compartment 44 is connected by a line 47 to the chamber 23 of the fuel pump 14. into which chamber pressure fluid is conveyed by the centrifugal oil pump formed by the pump rotor.
The flexible diaphragm 45 is therefore in one direction (in the direction of the cylinder 31) loaded by a pressure which is a function of the current speed of the machine.
The flexible membrane 45 is. further loaded by a spring 50 which rod 32 a of the piston 32 is arranged in the hollow Kol. For this purpose, the end wall of the cylinder 31 has an axially extending projection 51 which has a bore in which a sleeve 52 is arranged. In the sleeve 52 a slidable push rod 53 is arranged, one end of which is supported on a stop 45a of the membrane 45 and the end of which is supported on a stop 54 for the spring 50. The spring 50 is supported at the other end on an inner transverse wall of the hollow piston rod 32a.
The push rod 53 slides in the sleeve 52 and suitable fluid seals 53 a serve to prevent leakage of pressurized fluid from the cylinder 31 into the compartment 43, to the left of the membrane 45 in the drawing. It goes without saying that when the piston 32 moves in the cylinder 31 against the control device 33, the load on the diaphragm 45, which occurs as a result of the action of the spring 50, increases, the load depending on the position of the piston 32 in the Cylinder 31 depends.
It should also be noted that the spring loading on the membrane 45 counteracts the fluid pressure loading.
The flexible membrane 45 is also loaded by a second spring 55 in the same way as by the spring 50. The second spring 55 is supported at one end on the stop 45a, which is carried by the membrane 45 and, on the other hand, on a shoulder 56 which is arranged in the projection 51 which carries the bush 52 for the push rod 53.
The movements of the membrane 45 under the action of the fluid pressure and spring loads are transmitted by a second push rod 57 which is slidably disposed in the wall of the compartment 44. The movements of this bumper 57 are in turn transmitted to a support 59 of a hemispherical valve body 62 which forms part of a valve mechanism. The second push rod 57 has collar rings 57a which interact with the wall of the bore of the projection 58 in order to form a fluid seal between the compartment 44 and the chamber 61. This chamber 61 is connected to the suction line 18 of the fuel pump 14 by a line 65.
The carrier 59 and the second bumper 57 are slightly loaded by a spring 66 in the sense of a handle with the flexible membrane 45.
The mode of operation of the control device described is furthermore assumed as follows, the machine is not in operation. In this case, the hemisphere valve body 62 is on a seat around the opening 63 and the piston 32 is located on the side of the cylinder 31 facing away from the Steuerv orriehtung 33, in which position it is held by the main spring 50 th. If the engine is now started, the pressure on both sides of the piston 32 increases; However, since there is no outflow from the chamber 37, the piston 32 remains stationary, at the same time the fluid pressure in the pump chamber 23 and consequently the fluid pressure acting on the mem brane 45 increases due to the increase in the engine speed.
When the fluid pressure acting on the diaphragm 45 has risen enough to overcome the action of the spring 55 and thus open the hemispherical valve 62, pressure fluid flows out of the cylinder chamber 37 on the piston side facing the larger end face and the pressure is reduced as a result of the action the flow restrictor 42 sink into its supply bore 40. When the fluid pressure on said piston side has dropped sufficiently, the resulting pressure load overcomes the piston 3 \? the action of the spring 50, @ and the piston 32 begins to move in the cylinder 31 ztt, for as long as the.
The increase in speed continues until the piston 32 strikes against the stop 35.
It should be noted that the auxiliary spring 55 defines the lower limit of the speed range in which the servo device 30 changes the setting angle of the guide vanes 24a, 241).
Now it is assumed that.), Starting from a steady state, within the mentioned Dreliz number range in which. the setting of the guide vanes 24n ,, 24b takes place, the speed of the machine is brought to a different speed of the range. In this case, the pressure acting on the membrane 45 rises and causes the hemispherical valve 6 2 to open and fluid to flow through the channel 60 from the chamber 37, which is connected to the piston side facing a larger end face.
As a result, the pressure on this piston side falls (due to the action of the throttle 42 in the bore 40), and the piston 32 moves in the cylinder 31 to the right in the drawing, the load through the main 50 on the membrane 45 accordingly increases. This causes the valve 62 to move in the sense of closing and throttling the fluid flow out of the chamber 37. When the piston 32 assumes a position in the cylinder 31 which corresponds to the new speed, the bleed valve 62 is closed so far that that the pressure in the cylinder chamber 37, which is connected to the valve 62 through the channel 60, assumes such a value that the forces acting on the piston 32 keep one another in equilibrium. The piston comes to rest in this position.
Irr this position also keeps the Federbela stung on the membrane 45, the fluid pressure coming from the chamber 23, due to the pressure generated by the pump rotor, the equilibrium.
From the foregoing it can be seen that the piston 32 assumes a certain position in the cylinder 31 at every speed within the regulating range, so that the setting angle of the guide vanes 24a, 24b, which is controlled by the hydraulic servo device 30, can be set so that that it is adapted to the respective speed. Furthermore, whoever adjusted the guide vanes when the speed changes.
If the setting angle of the guide vanes is to be controlled in such a way that it is a function of the corrected speed (that is, the current speed divided by the square root of the inlet temperature), the membrane 45 is not loaded by the fluid pressure caused by the centrifugal pump is generated, which the pump rotor, as described above, represents, but by means, as they are shown in FIG.
In this arrangement, a pipe 70 is provided, the ends of which are connected to the suction line 18, and also a positive displacement pump 74 is provided in the pipe 70 with constant speed constant flow rate, which can be driven at a speed that is proportional to the engine speed . Furthermore, a throttle device 71 is provided hydraulically in series with this pump, the opening cross section of which is controlled by a valve body 72 which is carried by an ex pansible bellows 73. The latter can contract or expand according to changes in the inlet temperature.
The line 47, which opens into the compartment 44 of the diaphragm chamber of the control device 33, is connected to the pipe 70, namely between the opening 71 and the feed pump 74. The line 46, which opens into the compartment 43 on the other side of the diaphragm, is connected to the tube 70 downstream of the opening 71, so that the membrane 45 is loaded by the pressure drop in the Drosselöff voltage 71. is.
The amount of fluid flowing through the opening 71 is proportional to the engine speed, and if the cross section of the opening 71 through the bellows 73 is controlled by means of the valve body 72 so that it is proportional to the square root of the engine inlet temperature, the pressure drop is in the opening 71 and consequently the effective pressure difference on the membrane 45 of the instantaneous engine speed divided by the square root of the inlet temperature proportional, that is, the corrected speed.
The interior of the bellows is connected by a capillary 75 to a bladder 76 which is arranged at the machine inlet (FIG. 1). The bladder 76, the bellows 73 and the capillary 75 are filled with fluid, so that the bellows 75 expands and contracts with the fluid filling when the bladder 76 responds to an increase and decrease in the air temperature in the machine inlet.
In a further embodiment (according to FIG. 4) with a servo device 30, a control force is generated which is proportional to the square of the speed, and an oppositely acting force which is proportional to the engine inlet temperature. These forces are combined in such a way that their resultant is approximately proportional to the corrected engine speed. In this example, the compartment 43 of the chamber containing the brewer 45 is connected to the suction side of the fuel pump 14 as in the example according to FIG. 2, and the other compartment 44 is, as in FIG. 2, with the chamber 23 the fuel pump 14 verbun the chamber in which pressure fluid is delivered by the centrifugal pump formed by the pump rotor.
In the compartment 43, closer to the cylinder 31, a bellows device is arranged for generating the desired control force, which is dependent on the inlet temperature.
The bumper 53, which is supported at one end on the stop 45a of the membrane 45 and on the other hand on the stop 54 for the spring 50, is provided with a disc-shaped, radially extending part 80 see. Between this disc-shaped part 80 and the wall of the compartment 43 on the side of the cylinder 31, a bellows 81 is arranged, the interior of which is connected by a capillary tube 75 to a temperature-responsive bladder 76 in the engine inlet. The interior of the bellows 81, the capillary tube 75 and the bladder 76 are fluid-filled and can expand in a known manner when the temperature increases. The bellows 81 is normally in contact with the disc-shaped part 80 and with the wall of the compartment 43.
A vacuum box 83 is arranged between the disk-shaped part 80 and the flange-shaped stop 82, which extends radially inward from the wall of the compartment 43 between the membrane and the disk-shaped part. This box 83 is normally with the scheibenförmi gene part 80 and with the stop 82 in contact. The flange-shaped stop 82 is arranged such that the entire end face of the membrane 45 is still exposed to the pressure in the compartment 43 which, as shown in FIG. 2, is connected to the inlet of the fuel pump 14. The membrane 45 is also exposed to the load by the spring 84, on its side facing away from the cylinder 31. The spring 84 is supported on the member 45a, which is carried by the membrane 45, and on the wall of the compartment 44 facing away from the cylinder 31.
This spring 84 is to be agreed to counteract the load caused by the bellows 81, 83. Otherwise, the device is designed in the same way as the device shown in FIG.
During operation of the system, the membrane 45 is loaded by the fluid pressure from the pump chamber 23 in the sense of opening the hemispherical valve 62. This control load is therefore proportional to the square of the machine speed. The opposite we kende force is generated as follows: An increase in the temperature of the air at the inlet of the machine causes an expansion of the flui dums in parts 76, 75, 8l and causes a load on the shock absorber 53 in the sense of closing the hemispherical valve 6 'and moving the membrane 45 against the spring 84 supported on it. This load is proportional to the temperature of the air at the inlet of the machine.
It should be noted that, due to the arrangement of the vacuum can 83 on the side of the disc facing away from the fluid-filled bellows 81, it is ensured that with the correct choice of the corresponding surfaces of the two bellows 81, 83, the load acting on the disc 80 is independent is from the pump inlet pressure prevailing in compartment 43.
In order to generate a control force that is approximately proportional to the corrected speed, the dimensions of the bellows 81, 83 and the lIenibran 45 are chosen so that at a certain value of the corrected speed, the piston of the Servovorriclit.ung and thus the guide vanes 2.1 a, 24b also assume a certain position independent of the current temperature.
Another variant of the temperature control is provided in another exemplary embodiment finitely with a servo control line. In this case (FIG. 5), the hemispherical valve 62 is arranged at one end of a lever 90, which is carried by a flexible membrane 91. The latter separates the chamber 44 from the chamber 61.
The end part of the lever 90, which lies on the side of the membrane 91 facing away from the valve 622, can be influenced by an element 93 connected to the member 45a of the flexible membrane 45, so that a movement of the membrane 45 in the direction away from the cylinder 31 the closing of the hemispherical valve 62 allows. The spring 94 is arranged in a chamber 95 and is supported by a push rod 96 on the end of the lever 90 which is closer to the hemispherical valve 62. The end of the spring 94 facing away from the hemispherical valve is supported on a second push rod 97 which is loaded by means of a can 173. The interior of the latter is connected by a capillary tube 75 to a temperature-responsive organ 76 in the machine inlet. The can 173 can expand with an increase in temperature.
A load that is proportional to the temperature is consequently transferred to the hemispherical valve 6'3 and acts in the sense of closing this valve 62, this load increasing with increasing temperature. It is transmitted by means of the socket 173 through the spring 94. Otherwise, the device corresponds to the device described with reference to FIG.
It can be seen that in this construction of the device, the hemispherical valve is loaded by the diaphragm 45 in the sense of opening the valve by a force that is a result of the fluid pressure generated by the centrifugal pump of the fuel pump, and which force corresponds to the square is proportional to the engine speed. A force acts in the opposite sense, which is proportional to the inlet temperature of the machine, necessary for the purpose of pre-tensioning the mem- brane.
By appropriate selection of the surfaces of the membrane 45 and the can 173 and the length of the mist arm of the lever 90, a force acting on the valve 62 can be generated which, as in the second example described, is approximately proportional to the corrected machine speed.
In the last-mentioned embodiment, there is no auxiliary spring, such as the spring 45, on the other hand, the spring 94 can be arranged in such a way that it has the same effect as the spring 55 mentioned.
