Process for the production of a covered saddlecloth for bicycles. The saddlecloths of bicycles usually consist of a z. B. made of rubber, but also made of other pressable material Herge provided molding that is pressed under the action of heat in one of the desired shape ent speaking mold. This fitting is for various reasons, for example to achieve a better look, provided with a coating that can consist of artificial leather, for example.
As a rule, this coating cannot be pressed on when the molded part is pressed, because it would lose its good appearance and also its durability under the influence of the heat levels used during pressing. Covering the molded piece with a one-piece cover is not possible because the cover cannot adapt to the peculiar shape of the saddlecloth without considerable folds. The cover is therefore usually manufactured in such a way that it is assembled from individual parts which are each cut individually so that they can easily be adapted to the shape of the part which they are to cover.
The individual parts are sewn together or connected to one another in some other way. The seams protruding from the plane of the saddlecloth easily damage the clothing and easily tear themselves out. The shaped piece was therefore provided with grooves at the points of the seam support, into which the seams were sunk. This process is extremely cumbersome and time-consuming, leads to an increase in the price of the saddlecloth and, moreover, the position of the seams cannot be chosen so that they do not disturb the good look of the saddlecloth.
The invention is now based on the task of making the method for the production of saddlecloths, which are available from a molded piece, which is provided with a coating, so that all the aforementioned after parts are avoided.
The method according to the invention is characterized in that a material produced by non-cutting deformation, for example by casting or pressing, is used; the outer shape of the saddle corresponding shaped piece with the one-sided covered with an adhesive coating of non-preformed material in a shape of the shaped piece adapted -. Press is pressed together.
The saddlecloth produced according to the method according to the invention is characterized in that the shaped piece is stepped at its edge and the cover protrudes to the free end of the step and is surrounded in this area by a border strip surrounding the step.
In the accompanying drawing is a. From an exemplary embodiment of a saddle blanket produced by the method according to the invention. It shows: Fig.l the molded piece, Fig. 2 the edge of the molded piece provided with a step.
The process is carried out as follows: First, a molded piece 1 is Herge, which is given the desired shape of the saddle cover, as shown in Figure 1 of the drawing is Darge. This shaped piece can be pressed from a pressable material, for example rubber, at the necessary heat levels for this material. But it can also be produced in other ways, for example by casting.
This finished fitting is now covered with a piece of in no way preformed system, but flat covering material, the surface of which is slightly larger than the surface of the fitting and which was coated with an adhesive mass on the side facing the fitting. The molding and the covering material are pressed onto one another in a press that is adapted to the shape of the molding. The fact that the surface of the coating is selected to be somewhat larger than the molding is intended to ensure that the coating completely covers the molding and protrudes somewhat.
When using degrees of heat that allow a change in shape of the cover material without affecting its appearance and durability, a seamless, completely wrinkle-free cover can be attached to the molding in this way.
The coating b can now be trimmed so that it @ protrudes slightly over the edge of the molding at all points. He 'is then tipped over the edge of the fitting into its interior and attached to the fitting with means of a seam. In this case, however, there is the risk that the train on the edge is easily destroyed. Before geous it is to cut the coating applied to the fitting directly on the edge of the fitting. The edge of the molding is then covered with a strip of the covering material, which is tipped outwards and inwards over the molding and sewn to it.
The strip is folded in on its outer edge or on both of its edges. The seam can easily be placed in such a way that it is barely visible and therefore does not disturb the appearance of the saddlecloth.
If, as in the example shown, a three-fold application of the cover material is chosen on the edge of the saddlecloth, a bulge that may be uncomfortably thick will arise here. In order to avoid this, the edge of the molding is provided with a step on the outside, and the multiple layers of the covering material lie against its surfaces. Such an embodiment of the edge is shown in FIG. At a, the step attached to the molded piece can be seen.
The cover is labeled b, c shows the strip of cover material laid over the edge, which is wrapped on the outside at d so that it surrounds the cover in the area of the step of the molded piece. In this way, a smooth, durable and good looking edge.
Of course, materials must be used for the molded piece and the coating that meet the stresses occurring in the process.
The use of a molded piece made of rubber and a cover made of synthetic leather has proven to be particularly favorable.
The saddlecloths produced by the process described are durable, good-looking and cheaper to produce than in the conventional way. The process itself is simple and can be carried out without difficulty.
