Mehrzylindriger Verbrennungsmotor.
Mehrere Ausführungsbeispiele des Erfin dungsgegenstandes sind auf der beiliegenden Zeichnung vereinfacht dargestellt. Es zeigt Fig. 1 einen dreizylindrigen Dieselmotor, zum Teil in Seitenansicht und zum Teil im Schnitt; Fig. 2 die Ansicht der Stirnseite dieses Motors; Fig. 3 einen Schnitt durch die Auslass- kanä .1e und das Auslass-Steuerorgan dieses Motors;
Multi-cylinder internal combustion engine. The invention relates to a multi-cylinder internal combustion engine with outlet control elements of the cylinders that are driven as a function of the engine speed. In engines of this type there is a risk of the main Lich due to thermal expansion, contamination or foreign bodies due to the sticking or jamming of an outlet control member, which usually results in a breakage of the same or its drive.
The purpose of the invention is to eliminate this risk. The internal combustion engine according to the invention is characterized by oscillating outlet control elements with individual drive from a control shaft, and a flexible connecting element in each of these drives, which yields during the occurrence of excessive drive resistance of the outlet control element under the driving force of the control shaft.
In this way, damage to the tightly seated outlet control element or its drive is prevented without all of the other outlet control elements being blocked and the motor coming to a standstill. In most cases there will even be an automatic solution to the stuck outlet control organ, as this is dragged back and forth by the oscillating drive until the cause of the malfunction, for example one carried by the exhaust gas and the movement of the Exhaust control element obstructing foreign bodies, for example after the exhaust pipe has been eliminated.
The outlet control element can be driven via a drive rod consisting of several parts, one part of which is connected to the control shaft and another part to the outlet control element, these two parts being connected to one another by the flexible connecting element are that the length of the drive rod remains constant during normal operation, but can change during the occurrence of excessive drive resistance. A compression spring can be installed as a flexible connecting element between the two parts of the drive rod.
Instead of a long compression spring, two or more compression springs connected by suitable guide pieces can be used. The drive rod can also be designed in such a way that the free ends of the two parts of the drive rod, one of which is connected to the control shaft and the other to the outlet control member, overlap each other and are articulated by means of a bracket, and that the two parts and.
the flap is pulled together transversely to each other against stops attached to them by means of a tension spring acting on the two parts, in such a way that the length of the drive rod remains constant during normal operation, but the drive rod moves if there is an excessive tensile force acting on it while enlarging at least one of the angles determined between the two parts and the tab during normal operation by the stops can be lengthened and, in the case of an excessive compressive force, can be shortened by lateral kinking while enlarging one of these angles.
The two parts of the drive rod can also be connected to each other either mechanically by a spring-loaded snap device or hydraulically or pneumatically by a pressure medium. The outlet control element can also be driven via two parallel disks, one of which is connected to the outlet control element and the other to the control shaft, and which are connected to each other in the case of the disks by a spring-loaded snap device.
In order to prevent fuel from accumulating in the engine cylinder as long as the outlet control element is blocked, the drives of the outlet control elements can each be connected to a switching device for the fuel supply to each cylinder in such a way that during the occurrence of an excessive Drive resistance of the outlet control element of a cylinder, the fuel supply to this cylinder remains blocked. This switching device can automatically cut off the fuel supply and switch it on again.
However, it can also only automatically cut off the fuel supply and leave the restart to the supervisory staff. In this case, the switching device could have a Signalvor direction, which the supervisory staff would immediately make acoustically or visually aware that a cylinder is out of order.
Several embodiments of the subject invention are shown in simplified form on the accompanying drawing. 1 shows a three-cylinder diesel engine, partly in side view and partly in section; Fig. 2 is the front view of this motor; 3 shows a section through the outlet ducts .1e and the outlet control element of this motor;
4 shows the drive rod of an outlet control organ of this motor on a larger scale, and FIGS. 5-8 different variants of a flexible drive of an outlet control organ of this motor.
According to FIGS. 1, 2 and 3, each cylinder 1 of the diesel engine shown has an oscillating outlet control element 2, which is arranged in a separate housing 3 each. This is double-walled, since cooling water or another cooling medium can be passed through the spaces 4. If necessary, however, the spaces 4 could also be filled with a heat-insulating material. The interior of the housing 3 and the channels and slots leading to the inside of the cylinder are easily accessible from the outside after removal of the cover 5, which is important, especially with regard to easy cleaning.
The continuous exhaust duct 6 in the housing 3 is connected on one side via the duct 7 in the cylinder wall 8 to the outlet slots 9 of the liner 10 and on the other via the duct 11 to the exhaust pipe 12 common to all cylinders 1. The outlet control members 2 are driven by means of a drive rod 13, from a control shaft 14 common to all cylinders 1. This is driven via the gears 15, 16, 17 by the cure belwelle 18 of the engine. However, the drive can also follow in another way, for example by means of a chain.
In addition to the outlet control elements, the control shaft 14 can also drive other elements, for example fuel pumps. The lower part of each drive rod 13 is connected to an associated crank 19 of the control shaft 14, so that the drive rod 13 executes a reciprocating movement in accordance with the diameter of the crank circle 20. This movement is mediated means of the lever 21, with which the upper part of the drive rod 13 through the Bol zen @? is rotatably connected, transferred to the outlet control member 2 rigidly connected to the lever 21,
so that this between the positions <I> A </I> and <I> B, </I> corresponding to the oscillating movement of the lever 21 between the end positions <I> A '</I> and <I> B' </I> swings back and forth and thereby alternately opens and closes the exhaust gas duct 6. Instead of the cranks 19 eccentrics could also be used. Between the upper and the lower part of the drive rod 13, a spring 23 is installed as a flexible connecting element, which yields under the driving force of the control shaft 14 when the drive resistance of the outlet control element 2, for example as a result of scraping or jamming of the moving parts on the inside wall of the housing 3, excessively large.
According to FIG. 4, the drive rod 13 has an upper head 24 which is connected to the rod 2, i, and a lower head 26 which is connected to the tube 27. Between the rod 25 and the tube 27, the spring 23 is built as a flexible connecting element. This is held at the top and bottom by the two spring plates 28, 29, which can slide axially both on the rod 25 and in the tube 27. During normal operation, however, the spring 23 pushes the two spring plates 28, 29 apart so strongly that the upper spring plate 28 rests against the stops 30, 31 and the lower spring plate 29 rests against the stops 32, 33, so that the drive rod 13 has a constant length, which is not agile for the correct control of the outlet.
However, if the head 24 encounters excessive resistance during its reciprocating movement, for example if the outlet control element 2 is blocked in its movement by carbonized lubricating oil, combustion residues or a jammed foreign body, while the head 26 is still being driven , so the spring 23 yields under the driving force, so that the drive rod 13 is alternately extended and shortened depending on the current position of the control shaft 14 by the rod 25 and the tube 27 under compression of the spring 23 perform a relative movement with respect to each other .
The biasing force of the spring 23 is greater than the resistance force of the drive of the outlet control member, which can be expected from experience, so that the spring 23 does not give way even when the resistance was caused by obstacles that can be overcome by the outlet control member itself with regard to the strength of the outlet control element or its drive is still subject to permissible magnification.
According to FIG. 5, a weaker tension spring 34 is used instead of a compression spring of the embodiment shown in the previous figures. This is connected by means of the holder 35 to the upper part 36 and ver by means of the holder 37 to the lower part 38 of the drive rod 13a.
The two parts 36 and 38 of the drive rod 13a are also connected to each other by the tab 39, so that the spring 34 pulls the three components 36, 38 and 39 of the drive rod 13ca against each other. In normal operation, the tab 39 is held on the one hand on the stop 40 of the upper part 36 and on the other hand at the stop 41 of the lower part 38 of the drive rod 13ra, so that its length does not change.
Only when the drive resistance of the outlet control member is excessively large, the spring 34 expands and thus allows an extension or shortening of the drive rod 13a.
According to FIG. 6, the upper, rod-shaped part 42 of the drive rod 13b sits in the lower, tubular part 43, and the two parts 42, 43 are connected to one another by a snap device 44: this consists of a spring 45 loaded Snap element 46, which is formed on one side as a truncated cone, which is normally seated in a conical recess 47 of the upper part 42 of the drive rod 13b Ver.
In the event of excessive drive resistance of the outlet control element, the snap element 46 is pressed out of the recess 47 while the spring 45 is compressed, so that the drive rod 13b can change its length. The strong acoustic effect, which the alternately penetrating into the recess 47 and exiting from this snap element 46 exercises, makes the supervisory staff aware of the malfunction.
According to FIG. 7, the upper part 49 of the drive rod is connected to the piston 50 and the lower part 51 to the piston 52. By means of a pressure medium which passes through the flexible lines 53, 54 into the cylinder spaces 55, 56, the pistons 50, 52 are held at the stops 57, 58 under a desired pressure during normal operation. However, as soon as the drive resistance exceeded the contact pressure, the pistons 50, 52 move away from the stops 57, 58, so that a change in length of the drive rod 13c occurs. Air, for example, can be used as the pressure medium.
However, an inelastic pressure medium, such as water or oil, can also be used if care is taken that it is able to withdraw through lines 53 and 54 as soon as the drive resistance exceeds the contact pressure. The pressure medium could also be conducted into the cylinder spaces 55, 56 through cavities in the parts 49, 51 of the drive rod <B> 13e </B>.
According to FIG. 8, the outlet control member 2 is driven by two parallel discs 59, 60, which are connected to one another during normal operation by a snap device 62 loaded by the spring 61. The disc 60 is by means of the drive rod 13d of the control shaft 14 is ben driven. In the event of excessive drive resistance, the spring 61 and thus also the snap device 62 gives way so that the drive of the outlet control element remains interrupted until the drive resistance has reached the normal level again.
On the basis of this drive of the outlet control member shown in Fig. 8, an embodiment of a device will be described by means of which, when excessive drive resistance of the outlet control member of a cylinder occurs, the fuel supply to this cylinder is reduced: an excessive drive resistance has a Snapping out the Schnappvor device 62 and thus an axial displacement of the disc 60 to the right result. With this shift to the right, the disc 60 now gives a linkage, not shown, a movement with which this switches off the fuel supply to the cylinder.
The fuel supply then remains switched off until the operating staff switches it on again after removing the disorder causing the excessive drive resistance.
