Machine for pressing heads on metal objects, especially bolts and screws. In the machines used today for pressing heads on workpieces, the punch head, on which two or more punches are arranged, is moved horizontally back and forth for striking and the punches are brought into working position one after the other, or the punches are mounted on a punch block, which is carried by the punch head and oscillated synchronously with the back and forth movement of the punch head about a horizontal axis in order to bring a new punch into the working position after each stroke of the punch head. In this way, various head shapes can be produced on the workpiece while it is clamped in the support.
Solehe machines are particularly used for pressing the pots of bolts and screws. In the common type of two punch machines, the first forces the metal of the workpiece into the die and makes a rough head, and the second makes the head.
The present invention relates to a machine for pressing heads on metal objects, in particular on bolts and screws, in which a stamp block is arranged oscillatable on the front part of the stamp head, for which purpose it can be moved by means of a torsion bar, the longitudinal axis of which is in the direction the reciprocating movement of the punch head runs parallel., wherein the torsion bar is attached to the punch block at one end, while its other end is in drive connection with a vibrating member,
by which it can be oscillated around its axis and which is arranged on the punch head and connected to the drive mechanism of the machine in such a way that the torsion bar is oscillated synchronously with the back and forth movement of the punch head.
In the drawing, a Ausführungsbei is illustrated game of the invention, namely Fig. 1 is an elevation of the machine, Fig. 2 is a plan view, Fig. 3 is part of Fig. 1 on a larger scale and shows the details of the stem pelkopfes, Fig. 4 shows a section along line 4-4 in FIG. 3, FIG. 5 shows a section along line 5-5 in FIG. 3, and FIGS. 6 and 7 show two variants of the torsion bar made of lamellae.
The construction shown in the drawing is a machine that has two punch 10 carried by the punch head 11 for the production of heads on bolts and screws. This head 11 comprises a press ram of circular cross-section which can be moved back and forth in bearings 12 attached to the machine frame. The stamp head. has a flange 13 at the front end of the ram, and this end is provided with a recess 14 of circular cross-section in which a bearing 15 is provided for the ram block 16.
The punch block 16 has on the rear side a tubular extension 17 with which it is mounted in the bearing 15 and the zen tral bore 18 which is connected to the punch block 16 end of the torsion bar 19 takes on. The end of this projection 17 is provided with a thread onto which a clamping nut 20 is screwed.
The torsion bar 19 is arranged in a sleeve 21 in the punch head and extends in the longitudinal direction thereof, its axis being parallel to the longitudinal axis of the punch head and to the direction of its reciprocating movement.
At the end facing away from the punch block 16, the torsion bar is attached to a gear segment 22 which is net angeord in a sector-shaped slot 23 in the punch head. This segment 22 is carried by the end of the sleeve 21 and a La gerzapfen 24 to oscillate, which is installed in the punch head.
As already mentioned, two stamps are provided, the centers of which are arranged on a circle whose center point lies on the axis of rotation of the stamp block 16, so that the stamps move when the torsion bar is actuated in such a way that a The stamp comes into the position that the other had previously assumed and vice versa.
Any conventional method of mounting the stamps on block 16 can be used. According to the drawing, the punch holder 25 is fastened to the punch block 16 by means of bolts 34 which run with play through the holes 35 of the holder. The device for setting each stamp transversely with its axis -unfasst a pin 27 fixed in the stem block 16 with an attached sleeve 28. In the holes 29 in the holder plate 25 are adjusting screws (not shown), the inner ends of which are on the sleeve 28 rest.
To adjust each punch 10 in the axial direction, means are provided which comprise two wedges 32. These wedges each act on a punch and can be adjusted using a screw and nut. A blocking pin 33 blocks the punch in its selected axial position and for this purpose has a beveled end which engages in a notch in the punch.
The stamp block is provided with two stop surfaces 36, and two adjustable stops 37 are provided on the flange 13 of the stamp head, the arrangement being such that during the oscillating movement of the stamp block, one or the other stop surface 36 to limit the deflection with the Stops 3 7 comes into contact.
On the stamp block side, the torsion bar 19 is non-rotatably fastened in a web 38 in the bore of the tubular extension 17 of the stamp block 16. The stamp block 16 can be oscillated by means of the torsion bar 19, which is rotated back and forth by means of a vibrating member that is carried by the stamp head 11 and moves back and forth with the stamp head who can.
This oscillating element is mounted on a shaft 39 which is parallel to the direction of the back and forth movement of the punch head, the ends of which rest in bearings 40. These are provided in the two main carrier elements 41 which also carry the punch head 11. The shaft 39 is coupled to a coaxial shaft 42 which is operated by the mechanism described below be.
The oscillating member has a tubular sleeve 43, which on its outer surface with a gear segment. 44 is provided which engages with the gear segment on the torsion bar 19. The side plates 45 are attached to the sleeve 43, and the whole is supported by a U-shaped cross-section La gteil 46 which is attached to the punch head 11 by a cover 47.
For mounting the sleeve on the shaft .39, a type of roller bearing according to FIGS. 3 and 5 is used, which is particularly suitable for this case, because here the visual oscillating element is moved back and forth along the shaft at finite high speed and also, because at certain stages during the stroke and return path the reciprocating motion of the oscillating element and the rotation of the shaft take place simultaneously.
The shaft 39 has four axial grooves 48 which coincide with four axial grooves 49 on the inner surface of a chuck 50 and work together to form straight ball raceways which are inserted in the sleeve 43 so that they cannot rotate. The chuck has fer ner four axial grooves 51 on the outer surface, which are connected to the ball races by provided at the ends, semicircular channels and with these bil the free returns for the balls of these tracks.
The balls between the grooves 48 and 19 provide the drive connection between the shaft and the sleeve and also allow the sleeve to move freely back and forth with the chuck on the shaft. The side plates 45 have curved grooves to form the side channels.
The shaft 39 is oscillated by the shaft 42, which is provided at its other end with a crank arm 52 which carries a crank pin 53. This works in the curve 54 in the jacket of a drum 55. This is arranged on a shaft 56 which carries a gear 57 which is driven via the intermediate gear 58 by a gear 9 on the main drive shaft 59 of the machine.
The shaft 59 has two crank arms 60, the crank pin of which actuates a connecting rod 61. This is connected by an articulated coupling 62 to the rear end of the ram of the punch head 11, so that the latter is moved back and forth by the rotation of the shaft 59.
In Fig. 3 is. the workpiece 63 is shown moved into position for processing by a Stem pel 10. This bringing into working position can take place automatically by a known movement mechanism, not shown. Die and ejector are indicated generally at 64.
The shape of the stamp is chosen according to the type of heads to be produced.
To ensure a precise work position of each stamp at the end of an oscillating movement of the stamp block 16 to execute the blow, the Stem pelblock 16 is provided with two lined holes 65, and an adjusting pin 67 is attached to a carrier 68 which is attached to the frame 69 of the machine in such Position is fixed that it penetrates into one of the holes 65 every time one or the other Stem pel performs a blow. Thanks to this device for precise adjustment, theschlagvor device 36, 37 could also be omitted.
6 and 7 show two variants of a torsion bar made of lamellae instead of the one shown in FIG. However, it is preferable to use a full torsion bar as it has been shown in practice to give the best results. The characteristic flexibility of a torsion bar eliminates the risk of breakage, which occurs as a result of the stress caused by the oscillation of the punch block. A machine of this type works with over 200 strokes per minute, which performance is not possible with a machine with an ordinary shaft.
The operation of the machine is fol lowing: When the parts are in the position indicated by FIGS. 3 to 5 of the drawing, the punch head is at the beginning of his stroke, and a punch is aligned on the work piece. The punch head moves forward and hits the workpiece, and on the return and subsequent forward movement, the drum groove 54 moves the crank arm 52 in such a way that the shaft 39 is rotated and the punch block 16 is pivoted by the necessary angle ge so that the other punch is brought into position for the second blow.
When returning from the second stroke and the next forward movement, the curve 54 causes the swiveling movement of the punch block 16 in the opposite direction, so that it again brings the first punch into the working position for the next work piece.
