Ejection nozzle for reaction propellant device. The present invention relates to a convergent divergent ejection nozzle for a reaction propellant device, for example a rocket, and intended for the discharge of combustion gases at high temperature. \ In such a nozzle, the converging part of the nozzle channel can be subjected to particularly high temperatures, in particular, for example, in the case of a nozzle discharging the gases coming from the combustion chamber of a rocket , and these high temperatures tend to damage by combustion the material constituting the nozzle in the vicinity of this part.
In order to remedy this. disadvantage, the nozzle according to the invention is characterized by a carbon-based coating resistant to heat and forming at least part of the wall of the converging part of the channel of the nozzle.
The drawing represents, at. by way of example, two embodiments of the nozzle according to the invention and. two variants of the first form.
Fig. 1 shows, in partial section. a first embodiment mounted on a rocket.
Fig. 2 is a longitudinal sectional view of a first variant of the nozzle according to FIG. 1.
The fi-. 3 is. an end view (the nozzle shown in fig. 2.
Fig. 4 is a longitudinal sectional view of a second variant of the nozzle according to FIG. 1.
Fig. 5 is a longitudinal sectional view of a second embodiment.
The nozzle shown in FIG. 1 is mounted on a rocket comprising a combustion chamber 1, generally cylindrical in shape, closed at one end by a spherical cap? and bearing. the nozzle at either end. Bedroom 1 contains a. a propellant, for example a solid material based on asphalt and potassium perchlorate, which burns rapidly. after its firing. In order to ensure the ignition of the propellant charge, chamber 1 is. provided with a firing device 4, which comprises a pin 5 and an electric cable 6.
A safety valve 7 is mounted on the chamber 1 to prevent its explosion. The ejection nozzle comprises a pressed steel nozzle body 3 which has the greater part of the diverging part of the nozzle channel. At its rear end, the body 3 has a conical housing 18. This nozzle body is engaged in an annular part 11 of the chamber 1, has a shoulder. 14 butting against a ledge of room 11 and is. held in place by a split elastic ring 16 housed in a groove of a cylindrical part 13 of the body 3.
A carbon-based coating element 17 is engaged in the rear conical housing 18 of the nozzle body 3. This element may be, for example, made of agglomerate of natural graphite powder, of laminated graphite, of retort carbon, of coke. petroleum, tar coke or carbon black agglomerated. Element 17 is held in place by pins 19 (one of which is shown).
Element 17 has the convergent part and the minimum section part of the nozzle channel and also has the initial part of the divergent part of this channel. The convergent part of the com channel takes a conical part whose opening angle a is between 50 and 90. An angle of 70, for example, gives complete satisfaction.
The thickness of the wall of the element 17 at the location of the minimum section part 8 of the channel is greater than that of the metal wall of the nozzle body at the corresponding location. At the entry end 20, the thickness of the rounded wall of the element 17 is. weaker than at point 8. The presence of a larger layer of carbon-based material at the point of minimum section 8 here protects the metal nozzle body and increases its longevity.
In the. variant of fig. 2 and 3, which is analogous to. nozzle of FIG. 1, the angle of the housing of the carbon coating element 21 and the angle a of the conical part of the converging part, presented by this element 21 of the duct of the nozzle, are. equal, so that the coating forms a layer of uniform thickness which decreases at the inlet end 23, having a rounding, and towards the minimum section part 22 of the channel. Pins 19 secure the element 21 in the nozzle body 3.
The protection of the nozzle body at the location of the constriction of the channel is slightly lower than that shown in fig. 1, but it is largely sufficient, because the opening angle of the conical part of the conical part is more acute, which gives the gases a trajectory with less deviation.
Fig. 4 shows a variant of the nozzle of FIG. 1, in which the carbon coating element 25 has only part of the. converging part of the nozzle channel and does not extend to the constriction 8 of this channel. This element \? 5 comes to bear on a stop shoulder 26 of the nozzle body 3.
The rocket nozzle shown in fig. 5 comprises a steel nozzle body 27 provided with a threaded portion 33 screwed in a ring 29 of the combustion chamber 28 of the rocket. This body 27 has a flange 31 forming a shoulder 35 abutting against the ring 29. The front part 36 of the body 27 is cylindrical and smaller. diameter. Two blind holes 37 are provided and serve as points of attack for a tightening wrench when screwing the nozzle into the ring 29. The body 27 has a conical housing in which an element is engaged.
of carbon coating 38 presenting. the converging part, the portion of minimum section 30 and part of the. divergent part of the nozzle channel. The remainder of the divergent part of this channel is formed in body 27.
The axial section of the exposed inner surface of the cladding element. 38 in carbon is an arc of a circle. This element 38 is held in place by pins 39.
