Drill head for rock percussion drill. The most common type of drill head for rock drill bits is that in which one or more inserts made of hard metal or the like are fastened in grooves that are shaped in the body of the drill head in such a way that the The bottom of the grooves is at an angle to the axis of rotation of the drill head.
It has been shown that (with such drills, an arcuate shape of the cutting parts of the inserts produces the best results. As a result of this arcuate shape, however, the peripheral parts of the inserts are weaker than the central parts in relation to the working direction of the drill.
It has also shown that with stone hammer drills the peripherally located parts of the inserts are worn more quickly than the parts located on or near the axis of rotation of the drill head.
These circumstances have the effect that the peripheral parts are used up completely relatively quickly, while the parts that are closer to the axis of rotation, on the other hand, still have considerable strength and strength. This means that the expensive hard metal material is wasted because the drill head has to be replaced without having fully used the tendon material.
The weakening of the peripheral parts of the inserts has the consequence that cracks and breaks tend to occur in these parts. Attempts have been made to eliminate these disadvantages by various measures. It has been proposed, inter alia, to manufacture the inserts from composite material, the periplierisehen parts of the cutting edges being harder and more durable than the centrally located ones. 3 Han has also designed drill heads,
which have a greater number of cutting edges along their periphery than in the central parts. But such drill heads are quite com plicated and expensive to manufacture.
The present invention relates to a drill head for rock chisel drills with at least one insert made of hard metal and having a chord, mounted in a groove in the body of the drill head, and is characterized in that it
that the centrally located parts of the base are each located in front of the peripheral parts of the groove base in relation to the working direction of the drill head and that the base part of each insert has a shape adapted to the groove base. As a result, an advantageous distribution of the hard metal is achieved with regard to the circumstances mentioned above.
The drill head according to the invention consequently has a longer service life than a drill head of known construction provided with the same amount of hard metal.
The groove bottoms can, for example, in the longitudinal direction of the grooves. be arcuate or in the form of broken lines in one or more places. The invention is explained in more detail below with reference to the accompanying drawing, on which a drill head of known design and some embodiments of the subject of the invention are shown.
Fig. 1 is a plan view of the drill head provided with a single cutting edge of known design.
FIG. 2 shows the drill head shown in FIG. 1, partially in section along the line I-I in FIG. 1
Fig. 3 shows a section, analogous to the section in Fig. 2, through a first exemplary embodiment.
Fig. 4 is a view in the longitudinal direction of the groove on the drill head shown in Fig. 3, wherein the insert having the cutting edge is removed.
FIGS. 5, 6 and 7 show three further embodiments, each partly in section.
Fig. 8 is a plan view of another embodiment.
Fig. 9 shows a section along the line II-II in Fig. 8
From FIG. 2 it can be seen that in the body 1 of the known drill head a groove with a straight bottom 2 is formed, into which an insert 3 with a likewise straight base part is inserted. The dashed line drawn into the figure indicates the contour line that results from normal wear and tear of the insert 3 , with the peripheral parts 4 and 5 being completely worn out while the central parts of the insert still have considerable strength.
The service life of the known drill head is thus determined by the durability of the peripheral insert parts already weakened by the aforementioned original arcuate shape of the cutting edge, which is why a significant part of the hard metal material of the insert cannot be used. In addition, cracks and breaks as a result of the strong impacts usually occur at approximately 6 .
5 The drill head shown in FIG. 3 for stone chisel drills has the same external appearance as the known drill head shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 . The body 7 of this drill head, however, has a groove, the bottom of which is curved in the longitudinal section in such a way that the centrally located part 8 of the groove base can be seen in relation to the working direction (Arrow 2-1) is located in front of the periplieric parts 9 and 10 of the groove bottom.
An insert 11 made of hard metal with a cutting edge S is fastened in this groove, the base part of which adjoins the groove bottom 8 , namely the whole Along the length of the bottom of the groove, the stroked line drawn in the figure also indicates the contour line in this case, which is caused by normal misalignment.
In order to clearly emphasize the idea of the invention, the insert 1.1. consists of the same amount of material as the insert shown in FIG. 2 '). The shape of the groove bottom and the base part of the insert 11 according to FIGS. 3, 4 means that the hard metal of the insert can be better utilized than in the case of the insert in FIG. 1 > and 2 drill head shown.
The accumulation of material on the peripheral parts also reduces the risk of cracks and sludge in these parts.
Instead of a single one, two or more inserts can be introduced into the same groove, as can be seen from FIGS. 5 to 7. In such embodiments, the inserts are usually connected to one another by soldering with or without a splice. In the embodiment according to Fi, -l-. 5 is the base of the grooves having the two inserts 1, 2, 13 in the shape of an arc, each insert having a cutting edge S .
With the in Fi-. 6 The embodiment shown is the groove bottom in longitudinal section angled>, the tip 16 of the angle pointing into the working belt of the drill head. The two inserts 14 and 15 shown in the figure, which in this case have a straight base part, are at the apex of the angle, that is to say at the common edge of the two groove bottom tiles , connected to each other.
The longitudinal section of the bottom of the groove can also have the shape of a line broken in several places, as in F4--. 7 is illustrated. The base parts of the with attached inserts (17, 18, 19) are preferably the same length as the corresponding parts of the groove base.
The invention also allows bolir heads to be built with several cutting edges. FIGS. 8 and 9 show, as an example, a drill head provided with three inserts 20 in one groove each.
In all of the execution forms described here, the inserts are preferably soldered into the grooves.
Flushing channels and other details can be arranged in a manner known per se.
