Adjustable clearance bearing. The present invention relates to a bearing with adjustable clearance, for example of the needle type, the body of which has a conical bore in which is housed a split neck sleeve, having a conical outer surface whose taper corresponds to that of the bore of the bearing housing.
According to the invention, this adjustable clearance bearing is characterized in that said sleeve-bushing has, at least at its end having the smallest external diameter, a protrusion with external thread on which is screwed a nut bearing on the fringed face of the bearing body and allowing the sleeve-bearing to be moved so as to vary the clearance of the bearing, locking means being provided in order to be able to block said nut and. ensure, in this way, the absolute immobilization of the sleeve in its housing.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, two embodiments of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a vertical section of a pa lier according to the first embodiment. Fig. 2 is a top view.
Fig. 3 is a fragmentary front view thereof.
Fig. 4 is a vertical section of a pa lier according to the second embodiment, and FIG. 5 is a front view of part of it.
The bearing according to fig. 1 to 3 has a bearing cc conical bore forming a bearing body, in which a spindle b journals which may be, for example, the spindle of a moving spindle of an automatic bar turning machine. In the bore of this support is housed a sleeve-bearing c, preferably made of steel, having an outer surface conical whose taper corresponds to that of the inner surface of the support a .. This sleeve-bearing c has an oblique slot cl which allows a slight deformation of said man chon.
Between this sleeve-bearing c and the slightly reduced section of the spindle, a crown of needles d is provided. The sleeve-bearing c is provided with. its two ends, of cylindrical extensions with external thread c2, c3, on which tightening nuts el and e2 are screwed, which, at their peripheral surface, are provided with a groove. The nut e2 is integral with a sleeve e3 surrounding, with a small play, the spindle and provided with an internal thread having. to prevent oil from escaping from the bearing. On the support a are fixed, by means of screws, locking members having a wedge-shaped tongue which engages in the groove of the nuts el and c2 to lock them in their clamping position.
The bearing clearance adjustment described above is carried out as follows: After having sufficiently unscrewed the nut e2, the other nut, el, is screwed onto the extension. c2 against the respective end face of the support a so as to move the sleeve-bearing c axially towards this nut el and to contract the sleeve-bearing in the measure corresponding to the clearance that is desired to be given to the bearing.
After this operation, the nut e2 is screwed until it comes to rest on the other front face. of the support a to then block the two nuts in their screwing position by means of the stops f which had been released previously by unscrewing their fixing screws. The two nuts el and e2 being thus blocked, the sleeve-neck sinet c is immobilized, in an absolute manner, in its housing and can not move either to the left or to the right even if the spindle b is. subjected to axial shocks during machine operation.
In the bearing according to fig. 4 and 5, two needle rings m are provided and the sleeve-bearing n has a slot n1 in the form of a chevron. As for the locking means used to block the tightening nuts o1 and 02 in their screwing position after the bearing clearance has been adjusted, these consist, here, for each of the nuts, by axial holes r distributed all around of the nut o1 respectively 02 and by a pin s which can be engaged through these nut holes in a corresponding locking hole made in the respective face of the support a. It would possibly also be possible for the sleeve-bushing to have an extension with an external thread only at its end with a smaller external diameter.
In this case, the play of the bearing would be reduced, as in the other embodiments, by screwing this nut. On the other hand, it would be enlarged by unscrewing this nut and by appropriately driving out the sleeve-bearing in the direction of its disengagement, then tighten the nut until the desired play is obtained.
