Method for repairing damaged areas on the inner walls of containers coated with synthetic resin. It is a problem in the container industry to harden synthetic resin layers on the container walls without it being necessary to remove the container, pipe or other work piece in question and to heat it in a hardening furnace to the temperatures required for hardening. The difficulties are particularly great when the carrier material for the synthetic resin layers is a good conductor of heat, for example aluminum or iron.
Attempts have been made to harden Kunstharzschiehten, which are placed on highly thermally conductive substrates, such as the inner walls of closed containers, in such a way that hot air is blown into the containers after they are protected against heat emission by an external thermal insulation. were. The result was unsatisfactory.
There is also particular interest in processes that allow only damaged areas of the hardened paint layer to be touched up without removing the workpiece and moving it into a kiln or, which would be just as cumbersome in practice, completely heat-insulated are russ. Here russ in particular should be pointed out that such Kunstharzlaek repair points have to be completely hardened, otherwise they, e.g. B. in tanks for the beverage industry, give off taste. Attempts by long-wave light, ie infrared radiation, a hardening of the paint layer z.
B. to reach damaged areas, proved to be impracticable. The highly thermally conductive base dissipates the radiated heat too quickly, so that the temperature required to harden the synthetic resin layer is practically not reached.
Surprisingly it has. It has been shown that it is possible with the simplest means to solve the difficulties encountered in the tasks described by blowing hot air onto the coating to be hardened under pressure and under special conditions. This makes it possible to inflate relatively large amounts of air in the unit of time at the desired points, which, depending on their large heat content, can compensate for the losses caused by the dissipation of heat from the substrate and heat the paint layer to the temperature required for hardening.
The method is characterized in that the damaged areas of the container wall without thermal insulation are supplied with as much heat from the outside after the repair with a hardenable or condensable synthetic resin by blowing hot compressed air on them. that not only compensates for the heat dissipated by the thick boiler walls, but also that the synthetic resin layer is heated up to the temperature necessary for hardening or condensation.
To carry out the method, an electrically heated fan is expediently used, in which the outlet point for the hot air is designed as an exchangeable inflation funnel which is expediently closed by an air distributor. A throttle valve is used to regulate the amount of air in the cold draft, with a movable arm at the air outlet mouthpiece with an organ made of a sponge-like substance, for example a rod, to absorb the moisture. can be provided on this attached sponge.
A radiant heater can be built into the inflator.
