A rivet that connects components and is deformable from the set head side. For non-releasable connection of construction parts of all kinds, rivets are used in mechanical engineering, which are inserted cold or warm into the rivet looper and in the usual way - with counter-holding on the setting head - receive a locking head hammered or pressed on. The prerequisite is that one can reach both the setting head and the closing head side of the workpiece during machining.
In the construction of component connections of all kinds, this requirement is taken into account from the outset, but in numerous cases, especially in body, wagon and aircraft construction and in many other branches of industry, it is not always possible to close both sides to make connecting components accessible for tools. Another disadvantage is that mostly, e.g. B. when attaching planking, two workers - one on the setting head and one on the closing head side to hold against - are required.
In the case of many component connections, a complete design of the closing head is not even necessary, since the stressing forces are only small and the rivet connections more or less only have the task of fastening.
Rivets that can be pulled in and closed from one side and only require one worker are known. The closing methods are versatile, but always require complicated manipulations with special tools, such as electric heaters or compressed air devices, so that their application is expensive and only profitable in well-equipped companies.
The subject of the present invention is a rivet which only uses a hammer and clamp iron from the setting head side and can be closed and closed, with a closing head being automatically formed on the closing side by deforming the rivet adhesive ends. In this way, a sufficiently firm connection of the components with sufficient closing force can be achieved. This effect is achieved in that the rivet according to the invention is divided into at least two parts, one part of which forms a primary part and of which at least parts run parallel to the longitudinal axis of the rivet, with parting surfaces going through the head and shaft of the rivet Counterholder is used to shape the locking head.
This primary part has on the shaft a thickening with a steering surface beginning in the zone of the rear edge of the component and is to be inserted into the rivet hole in front of the other rivet parts (secondary parts) until its setting head rests on the front side of the component, whereupon the secondary part or parts in the remaining space are to be used and z. B. can be pressed. Its shaft end is deformed when it hits the steering surface of the thickening on the primary part. The design of the steering surface of the thickening and its position in relation to the rear edge of the component are decisive for the clean design and correct seating of the locking head.
In order to be able to achieve a high closing force of the finished rivet, the start of the steering surface of the thickening on the primary part is expediently moved within the rivet hole, which forces the secondary shaft to exit the rivet hole. and the interconnected components are pressed together who the. In order to facilitate the formation of the closing head, the shank end of the secondary part or parts is advantageously provided in a known manner with radial slots up to the zone of the rear edge of the component.
In addition, in this zone, notches or ring grooves can be made on the rivet shank of the primary and secondary parts to facilitate the design of the closing head.
The cross-section of the primary part, which is perpendicular to the rivet axis, can have any shape, for example occupy one half of the circular cross-sectional area or a smaller sector thereof. The primary part can also form a strip-shaped cutout lying in the middle, which then requires two secondary parts lying on both sides.
Since when the rivets are driven in, great forces for deformation work are effective, the primary part is expediently made of a tougher material than the secondary part or parts.
In Figs. 1 to 11 some Ausfüh approximately examples of the invention and their most important features are shown graphically.
In Fig. 1 to 3, the simplest educa tion of the rivet is indicated. In Fig. 1, a two-part rivet is shown in which the separation surface of the primary part a is the main thing flat and goes through the longitudinal axis of the rivet; At the end of the shaft, the separating surface merges into the upper surface of a wedge-like thickening d which forms a steering surface, while the secondary part b has a completely flat separating surface that extends through the longitudinal axis of the rivet.
In Fig. 2 it is shown how the primary part a is first inserted into the rivet hole from the machining side and then the secondary part b is inserted into the still free part of the rivet hole. In Fig. 3, the finished formed rivet is given. The secondary part b was pressed in or knocked in by the clamp iron c, with the two adhesive ends on the back of the components to be connected being deformed to form a locking head.
Fig. 4 shows a rivet, the shaft of which has an annular groove in the expansion zone. has, which facilitates the deformation of the shaft ends.
5 and 6 show a two-part rivet which forms a three-part locking head by suitable angling of the steering surfaces on the thickening d of the primary part shaft a and by single longitudinal slitting of the secondary part shaft b. An annular groove facilitates the shaping.
In FIGS. 7 and 8, a rivet is shown which, in order to improve the closing head design, is divided longitudinally in such a way that the shank cross section of the primary part a comprises only a section of a circle which is smaller than half the cross section. of the rivet hole, while its conical thickening is coaxial to the central axis of the rivet ..
The rest of the larger section of the circle. is filled by the shaft of a secondary part b., the lower part of the shaft forming part of a hollow cylinder having longitudinal slots. and the shaft parts lying between the longitudinal slots are bent up in the form of crown-shaped lobes e when they run onto the cone d.
The representations in FIGS. 9, 10 and 11 show a rivet which has two secondary parts located on both sides of a primary part. The primary part a (Fig. 9) is designed as a mainly flat Mittelaus section of the rivet and has on.
both sides also in the zone of the building part rear edge a suitable thickening with steering surface d. The shafts of the secondary parts b1 and b2 fill the remaining spaces of the rivet hole on each side of the central part a and have a semi-cylindrical, slotted shaft part before the deformation to facilitate the closing head training. The part bi is shown in the unbeaten state, the part b @ in the beaten state with a deformed edge of the shaft end.
FIGS. 10 and 11 give sectional views of the rivet before and after deformation for a better understanding. In Fig. 10 the rivet has already been inserted into the rivet hole, but has not yet been deformed, while in Fig. 11 the rivet with the molded-in secondary parts with the closing head formed on the rear side of the workpiece and pressed against it in the fully molded state . represents is.
