Watertight housing for flash discharge lamp. The present invention relates to a sealed housing for a flash discharge lamp.
The housing according to the invention is characterized in that it is formed of a piece of transparent molded plastic material enclosing the discharge tube in a part closed at the end and kept at least partly transparent, the remaining part open at the end. its extremity, internally receiving the auxiliary organs which control the priming of the. discharge into the discharge tube and serving as an insulating handle, the extreme opening of this housing being closed by an insulating plug fitted with a cable gland for the passage and tight fixing of the flexible connection cable under an insulating sheath.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, two embodiments of the housing which is the subject of the invention.
Figs. 1 and 2 are longitudinal sections of a first and a second embodiment, respectively.
Figs. 3 and 1 are dirty cross sections of the first and second embodiments, respectively.
The sealed housing for a discharge flash lamp is formed as well in the embodiment shown in FIG. 1 than in that shown in FIG. 2, of a part 1 of transparent molded plastic material enclosing the discharge tube? in an anterior part closed at the end and kept at least partly transparent. The remaining rear part of the part 1, coming from the opening open at its end, and internally receiving the auxiliary members 5 which control the initiation of the discharge in the discharge tube 2, serves as an insulating handle.
The opening of this remaining part, which is the only opening of the whole of the part 1, is closed by an insulating plug 3 provided with a cable gland 9 for the passage and the waterproof fixing of the cable 6 which is a flexible cable. connection under insulating sheath. The rear part of part 1 is internally coated with an opaque layer 4 which hides the auxiliary members 5.
In the first embodiment, the housing is, as shown in FIG. 3, of circular sec tion and the anterior part of the. part 1, that is to say the part which contains the discharge tube 2, has a surface portion which lies almost entirely on one side of a diametral plane and which is coated with a reflective layer lique metal 7.
In the second embodiment, the front part of the part 1, that is to say that which contains the discharge tube 2, consists (see fig. 4) of a portion with a substantially parabolic straight section. internally coated with a metallic reflective layer 7 and with a portion 8 with a cross-section in the form of an arc of a circle, having at least on its inner face longitudinal grooves participating in the distribution of the light emitted in space. The discharge tube? East. placed as far as possible at the focus of the reflector formed by layer 7.
In both examples, the reflective layers 7 can. be deposited in a vacuum or by other physical or chemical processes.
One can imagine different modifications of the two embodiments shown. The opaque layer 4- could for example be deposited at. the exterior of the posterior part of the part 7. In the second embodiment, the two portions of the front part, or one of them, could have a shape different from that shown in FIG. -l.
