The invention relates to an improvement of the heat meter described in the claim of the main patent, in which the creep properties of a suitable material, which are dependent on the temperature, a deformation force and the period of time during which this force has acted in the named range in the range from about 20 to 100o, are used as a whole The basis for measuring the amount of heat emitted is used.
The improvement according to the invention consists in the fact that the deformation body designed as a rod is assigned a device which allows this body to be pre-tensioned during installation, for the purpose of being able to give it a stress distribution in the zero position of the display device which corresponds to a stress distribution which would set in the course of time under the influence of the deformation force and temperatures in the range mentioned. If, for example, a corresponding rod that is subjected to bending or torsion were used without pretension, the initial elongation is relatively large. This would require the use of a non-linear scale.
In the case of deformation rods subject to bending stress, the deformation rod is expediently dimensioned in relation to the length of a pointer attached to it so that the pointer tip moves as a first approximation on a circle. Another advantage is that the graduation marks can be drawn in as radii to this circle.
This has the effect of simplifying the scale. In addition, by placing the deformation bars under pre-tension, it is possible to avoid an initial display at room temperature and when the heat consumer is not heated.
The accompanying drawing shows an exemplary embodiment of the subject of the invention. In the figure, 20 designates the housing of the heat meter, on which a scale 24 on the one hand and a holder 93 with a hollow body 21 on the other hand are attached. In the latter, a rod-shaped deformation body 22, which is stressed by bending, is inserted, onto which a pointer 27, which carries an additional weight 28, is placed. On the hollow body 21 and on the pointer 27 stops 25 and 26 are provided, which can be used to ensure that for a given length of the deformation body 22, the length of the deformation body 22 subjected to bending is always the same, which is necessary in the interest of a high measurement accuracy.
An element 29 is also attached to the housing 20, into which an adjusting screw 30 with a counter nut 31 is screwed. Through the organ 29 together with the adjusting screw 30, the originally straight deformation body 22 can be given a deflection during installation, the body 22 being able to be adjusted to the zero position with respect to the scale 24 if necessary by means of the adjusting screw 30.
In this way, the deformation body 22 can be pre-stressed when it is installed in the heat meter, for the purpose of being able to give it a stress distribution in the zero position of the pointer 27 which corresponds to a stress distribution which changes over time under the influence of the deformation force and of temperatures in the range between 20 and 1000 would set anyway. A regulating member 30 does not need to be present if a corresponding support is designed from the outset in such a way that the pointer can be set to the zero position by bending the rod 22.
The pointer placed on the rod-shaped deformation body stressed by bending can expediently be at least twice longer than the part of the deformation rod stressed by bending, i.e. L is usefully greater than 2 1.
Heat meters of the type described can not only be used to measure the heat consumed in individual buildings according to the actual consumption of the various tenants, but they can also be used to measure the heat consumed by individual buildings or even entire groups of houses in holiday heating systems, The heat meters then have to be attached to the return pipes of the individual buildings.
