B. Paraffine, I) i phenyle, Triole oder dergleielien Stoffgemische.
Die Lamellenöfen bestehen bekanntlich a. us einem rechteekigen Behälter.
CO2 7,2% (l 0, 5%
CO 1,0%
H2 0,8%
CH4 82, 30/o
N. 8,2%
Method and device for carrying out catalytic gas reactions.
When carrying out catalytic reactions between gases, large amounts of heat are released in many cases. If a narrow temperature range is a prerequisite for the reaction to proceed favorably, in these cases the catalyst is accommodated between heat exchange surfaces in such a way that the heat of the reaction or a large part of it is transferred to a cooling liquid, especially cooling water. For example, in the production of higher hydrocarbons by catalytic Koh lenoxydhydrierung with the aid of cobalt or iron contacts, the contact is accommodated in static lines between closely spaced cooling elements.
The cooling is done by boiling pressurized water.
In the case of rapid reactions, the conversion takes place mainly in the parts of the catalyst through which the gas flows first. Most of the heat of reaction is therefore released in these layers of the catalyst, while the degree of gas conversion becomes smaller and smaller in the following parts of the catalyst.
So that the catalyst is not damaged by the suddenly released heat of reaction or the reaction is directed in an unfavorable way, the cooling of the reaction chamber must be so strong that it is sufficient in the layers in which the greatest heat of reaction is released to keep the temperature below the keep the maximum limit.
It is then unavoidable that the heat dissipation becomes too strong in those parts of the catalyst in which the remaining conversion of the gases is supposed to take place, i.e. in which the gases that react with one another have only low concentrations, so that in In these parts of the reaction space the temperature drops more and more and the reaction almost comes to a standstill prematurely. The utilization of the catalyst and the contact furnace are accordingly imperfect.
This disadvantage is eliminated by the invention; according to her, catalytic gas reactions in which released reaction heat is dissipated through heat exchange surfaces and transferred to an evaporating coolant, eg. B. the hydrogenation of carbon oxide to higher hydrocarbons, the methanation of carbon oxide and gas containing hydrogen or the like, carried out in such a way that the boiling temperature of the coolant is kept increasing in the direction from the gas inlet to the gas outlet of the contact furnace, such that the increase is measured to over 5 C, and that this temperature increase is created by
that a liquid mixture is chosen as the coolant, the components of which have different boiling points. For example, when the gases pass through the catalyst from top to bottom, the temperature of the coolant in the lowest part is kept more than 20 C higher than in the uppermost part. This tempera. The temperature range depends in detail on the type of reactions and, near the level of the desired conversion, on the optimum reaction temperature or the like.
For example, carbon hydrogen mixtures are used as coolants, specifically in such a way that the heat of reaction is dissipated in the cooling space by evaporation of the coolant. The evaporation is expediently conducted in such a way that a more or less extensive rectification of the coolant occurs, the reaction gases in the contact furnace passing through the catalyst layers from top to bottom. These rectifics. tion causes the coolant to evaporate in the deeper layers at a higher temperature than in the layers above.
The rectification of the cooling liquid mixture in the cold room can be done e.g. B. bring about that the cold room is charged with Raschig rings, spiral trickles, balls or the like fillers. A suitable number of sieves can also be arranged one above the other. Finally, in many cases, it is also possible to design the cooling space as a rectification column with trays and bells.
The rectification can, as is known per se, be carried out in such a way that the liquid mixture is continuously or intermittently introduced into the cooling space, approximately in its middle height, and that the lower-boiling components of the liquid mixture are in vapor form above and the higher-boiling components in liquid form below withdrawn from the refrigerator. However, the rectification can also be modified in such a way that the liquid remains in the cold room permanently or for a longer period and that only the lower-boiling liquid components are withdrawn from the top of the cold room in vapor form.
They are then deposited outside the cooling ram, expediently by utilizing their heat of condensation, and returned to the upper part of the cooling chamber at a suitable point.
Mixtures of saturated hydrocarbons or hydrocarbon compounds are used in particular as the coolant for the contact, e.g. B. paraffins, I) i phenyls, triols or dergleielien mixtures of substances. Advantageously, for. B. hydrocarbons or hydrocarbon compounds with 10 to 14 carbon atoms in the molecule for reaction temperatures of 250 to 300 C can be used as a coolant. The boiling limits of the mixtures are determined by the respective reactions and the Au. s formation of the reaction space, also according to the degree of rectification.
In many cases, fractions of hydrocarbons or hydrocarbon compounds are used as coolants, in which fractions the boiling range is significantly greater than the range of the reaction temperature. With a good rectification, the boiling range of the coolant can also be e.g. B. have the same order of magnitude as the range of the reaction temperature. In the case of a weak rectification or the like in the refrigerator, the boiling limits are chosen wider than in the case of a stronger one. This coordination allows you to achieve that the cooling is independent of the type of rectification or the like. Furthermore, the cooling can be influenced by the boiling curve.
For example, the reaction position in the contact furnace can initially require a slow rise in the cooling temperature and then an ever steeper rise. This requirement can also be used, for. B. easily take into account by appropriate composition of the coolant mixture. Something similar can be achieved through the selection of the built-in components or fillings in the cold room, e.g. B. because the distance between the internals or the size of the filler bodies or layers are measured differently.
If you choose the boiling limits of the coolant mixture accordingly wide, z. B. from 180 to 500 C when using paraffinic hydrocarbons for the catalytic hydrogenation of carbohydrates to higher hydrocarbons, so you can get by with sufficiently high cooling rooms and narrow cross-sections even without internals in the cooling room. Then the temperature difference alone is sufficient. B. through the constant return of the evaporated, lower-boiling and condensed liquid components in the upper part of the cold room.
The vapors of the coolant escaping from the cooling chamber can, for. B. advantageously serve xur steam generation.
The drawing serves to further explain the invention.
In FIG. 1, a contact furnace is shown schematically, for example, in a vertical section.
2 and 3 show, for example, different configurations of the cooling space.
Another embodiment of a contact furnace according to the invention is shown in FIG. 4 in a vertical section and in FIG. 5 in plan.
1 is the jacket of the contact furnace, 2 the inlet and 3 the outlet of the gases that flow through the tubes 4 filled with contact. These tubes are surrounded by the coolant that occupies the space of the contact furnace that is not filled by the tubes. Sieves 5 are arranged in this cooling space (see also FIG. 3). The coolant dampers leave the furnace through the connecting pieces 6, which open into the ring line 7. From the ring line, the vapors pass through line 8 into heat exchanger 9, where they condense and release the heat released into water, which enters the heat exchanger through line 10 and leaves the heat exchanger through line 11 as water vapor.
The return of the coolant condensate from the heat exchanger 9 into the contact furnace 1 takes place through the line 12. Instead of the sieves 5, filling bodies can also be arranged in the cooling space surrounding the contact tubes.
If a sharper rectification is required, the cooling space can be designed according to the principle of FIG. 2, in which bell bottoms 13 with bells 14 are arranged around the contact tubes 4. 15 are the overflows, which are advantageously made high so that the coolant flows around the contact tubes as evenly as possible.
The invention can also be applied to what are known as lamellar furnaces, which are used for the catalytic hydrogenation of carbons to hydrocarbons and optionally hydrocarbon compounds.
The lamellar ovens are known to consist of a. from a rectangular container. Numerous metal sheets are set vertically in this container. Numerous pipes through which the cooling water flows are passed through these metal sheets (fins), which are 9 mm apart. Both ends of the tubes open into horizontal header tubes outside the contact furnace. These headers end in vertical risers on both sides. The four riser pipes are connected to a steam collector in such a way that the water circulates continuously through the pipes.
In an exemplary embodiment of the device according to the invention, the two riser pipes on one side of the lamellar furnace are not connected to the steam collector, and these riser pipes are also divided by floors so that a section of the riser pipe is created for each header pipe. If necessary, sieve trays, fillers or similar inserts can be placed in the riser pipes on the other side of the furnace, and a connection pipe to the riser pipe on the opposite furnace side is expediently provided outside the furnace for each section of the riser pipes on the other side of the furnace. This connecting pipe can be arranged horizontally or rising slightly.
Operation is then such that in the cooling tubes, in which a mixture of liquid hydrocarbons is used as a coolant, part of the liquid mixture evaporates and the vapor flows off to the riser pipes which are connected to the vapor collector. The steam flows upwards in these risers. The inserts or the like prevent the steam from carrying liquid upwards and a temperature equalization between the liquid in the upper part and the liquid in the lower part of each of these riser pipes.
Liquid can constantly flow back through the connecting pipes to the other two subdivided riser pipes, so that these riser pipes are always filled with liquid.
In Figs. 4 and 5, 21 is the furnace shell, 22 is the lamellae and 23 are the cooling tubes. The cooling tubes are serpentine and end in header tubes 24.
The collecting pipes 24 open at both ends into the riser pipes 25. The riser pipes on the furnace side I are divided by the bases 26, and sieve bases 27 are arranged in the riser pipes on the furnace side. 28 are the connecting pipes that lead from the riser pipes on one side of the furnace to those on the other side of the furnace. The riser pipes on one side of the furnace are connected to the steam collector 30 by pipes 29. Heat exchange pipes 31 are provided in the steam collector 30. These pipes are in communication with the pipes 29, so that the vapors of the hydrocarbons condense in the pipes 31. The heat of condensation is given off to the water present in the steam collector 30, which evaporates and is discharged as water vapor through the line 32.
33 is the water supply to the steam collector. 34 is the inlet opening and 35 is the outlet opening for the synthesis gases into the furnace.
By subdividing the riser pipes on one side of the furnace, the connecting pipes 28 and, if necessary, the internals or the like in the riser pipes on the other side of the furnace, as well as the cooling pipes, various superposed compartments are created. The coolant can circulate in these for you. But there is no permanent A tight mix of the coolants found in the individual sections lying one above the other.
As a result of this and the backflow of the coolant condensate from the steam collector, a kind of rectification of the coolant occurs in the riser pipes, so that the coolant composition in the lower sections has a higher boiling point than the one above. According to the coolant temperatures, the furnace temperatures also increased, so that the lower contact parts in the furnace work at higher temperatures than the upper ones. Lots.
There. This in turn ensures that the conversion is approximately the same in all parts of the contact, and the influence that the decreasing concentration of the reacting gases on passage through the contact would cause on the reaction rate at the same temperature is compensated.
Example:
In the production of higher hydrocarbons by catalytic carbon hydration, a coolant is used for the contact furnace, which can be designed as shown in the drawing, which boils between 190 and 250 C and a mixture of saturated hydrocarbons or hydrocarbon compounds represents a higher proportion of hydrocarbons or hydrocarbon compounds C11, C12, C13 and a smaller proportion of hydrocarbons or hydrocarbon compounds C14.
A normal cobalt-thorium oxide contact composed of 100 cobalt, 5 thorium oxide, 8 magnesium oxide, 200 kieselguhr was used as the catalyst.
The synthesis gas was a pressurized gasification gas that had been produced from lignite under a pressure of 20 atm.
It contained:
CO2 1.2% CnHm 0, zozo
CO 23.3% H2 54.6 / o
CH4 18.6% N. 2, 3 / o Hs was produced in a single stage and with the Synt. hesegases worked. The% white circular area was used, i.e. 2 volumes of circulating gas were used for 1 volume of fresh gas, @as. The end gas was made up of:
CO2 7.2% (l 0.5%
CO 1.0%
H2 0.8%
CH4 82, 30 / o
N. 8.2%
The temperature at the top of the contact furnace was 190 ". It rose down to 2100.
The gas load on the contact was 300 nr per nr 'contact. The contact furnace operated with a gas pressure of 20 atm. It supplied 60 per cent petrol, 25 per cent diesel oil, 12 per cent pa raffingatseh and 3 per cent Hartwaehs. The gas oil remained in the end gas, which can be used advantageously as long-distance gas or for the chemical industry, as its calorific value is around 8,000 calories and its methane content is over 80%.
From the results cited, it can be seen that the contact in this example in a one-step procedure has worked up the gas to 99.5 / o, with a load that is three times that which is usual in the normal Fischer-Tropsch synthesis.
