Le pivotement dans un plan hori zontal du bras7 s'effectue autour de l'axe8 par l'intermédiaire -de deux visà pointe co nique1151 et 1152 fixées.à -deux autres oreilles pàrallèles'1121 et 1122 de l'étrier 112 et d'un tenon cylindrique116 fixéà une pièce cou dée 117;

Par cette -ma- n#ime, la goupille 47 solidaire de la tige.11, laquelle est entraînée en rotation par la cla vette30 du plateau 12, se déplace dans l'ouverture 48 dans le sens indiqué par la flèchef dans la fig. 9 et vient s'arrêterà l'autre extrémité de-cette ouverture;
Par cette rotation, la goupille 47 qui, lorsque la machine est en marche, est toujours dans la position représentée dans la fig. 9, dans l'ouvert-Lire 48, se déplace dans cette ouver- turc jusqu'à son a-Litre extrémité suivant la flèchef et entraîne senestrorsum le levier en étoile90. Le bec 90a' de ce dernier agit sur le bec 891, 4u levier85 faisant pivoter ce der nier dextrorsum.;

In the drawing, 1 designates the base plate of the talking machine resting on feet 2 and under which is fixed the motor 3 rotating the turntable 4 by friction of a pulley 5 (fig. 7) whose rim, provided with a rubber tire, is held elastically against the inner face of the edge 4 'of the turntable. 6 indicates the pick-up carried by the arm 7 pivoted around an axis 8 (fig. 10) which can be tilted to the vertical so that at least part of its exit stroke,
intended to bring, to the end of each audition, the pick-up outside outside the periphery of the discs, is carried out under the action of goTavity.
9 means -a disc of a reserve disc stack resting above the turntable 4 on the horizontal bearing surface 10 of a rod right 11 passing through the discs by their central opening, in the axis of the turntable 4. The spare discs 9 are kept horizontal on the support surface < B> 10 by a disc press plate 12 in the shape of a star with three branches threaded by its hub 13 on the upper end of the rod 11. disc holder
The disc holder rod (shown in section in fig. 6) comprises the following elements: in its hollow lower end is mounted a pusher 14 capable of sliding axially against the action of a spring of return 15 mounted on the lower end of the pusher emerging from the rod 11, between a collar 16 and the edge of the rod 11. The spring 15 tends to return the pusher 14 downwards.
The upper end called the evening 14 carries a transverse pin 17 in contact with an inclined plane 18 ' which the lower end of a lever 18 </ B> housed in a diametrical longitudinal slot 19 which the rod II presents and pivoted on a tube 20 fixed in the rod -11.
The, angular displacement of the lever 18 is limited by another pin, 21 fixed in the walls of the slot 19 and engaged in a hole 22 of the vier 18. A hairpin spring 23 tends to keep the lever 18 in the position shown in fig. 6, position -in which its upper end, of which the terminal surface 18 " is above -the bearing surface 10 </ B > on which the lower disc 9 of the reserve disc stack rests, leaves this bearing surface free and emerges from the rod Il on the other side of said on side 10, this to prevent the first disks from falling when loading.
Above the bearing surface 10 which is formed by a notch 24 of the rod 11, the longi tudinal slot 19 is prolongs, but does not cross the stem; its 19 ' bottom is arched and forms the sliding surface of a slide 25 eD in the form of a #circular segment housed in this upper part of the slow 19. The slider is engaged by a longitudinal slot 26 on a transverse pin 27 fixed in the rod Il. In its position lower shown in fig. 6,
the slider 25 retains by its lower end emerging from the rod It opposite the surface, supporting 10 the penultimate disc 91- of the reserve pile against any lateral displacement when, under the action of the flow mechanism, the pous evening 14 acting from bottom to ha-Lit by its. pin 17 on the inclined plane 18 ' of the lever 18, forces the latter to pivot in the direction of the clockwise to push the lower 9. of the stack off the support surface 10 to allow it to descend onto the turntable 4 .
When the stack is completely discharged, the discs can be reassembled in the reserve position or removed from the rod 11 thanks to the removal of the upper end of the lever 18 and to the erasure, by sliding -from bottom to top, on the arched bottom 19 ' of the slot 19 </ B > of the slide. 25.
The upper end of the rod 11 has yet another longitudinal slit 28, orthogonal to the slow 19, </ B > and in which the end of the pin 27 protrudes to serve as a stopper to the descent of the disc press plate 12, when the stack of 9 spare drives is fully free- .
The plate 12 is, in fact, engaged (fig. 4) by its hub 13 on the upper end of the rod 11; a key 30 </ B> held in the hub 13 by a screw 31, engages in the slow 28 of the rod 11 </ B> and not only thus secures the disc press 12 angularly with this rod, but also limits the descent of this disc press 12 by abutting against the pin 27, when the last disk,
reserve has left the support surface 10. The disc press plate 12 presses on the reserve discs by three cauutchouc pads 32a, 32 b, 320, of which the first two are fixed at the end of two of its branches, while the third 32 ' is fixed at the end of 'a 33 lever pivoted on a pin 34 planted transversely in the folded edges of a branch of the plate 12.
The lever 33 can freely vote on the pin 34, but its angular displacement is limited by its posterior arm 33 ' which, when the lever is free to fall therefore> of the descent of the last disc of the stack, abuts against the underside of the corresponding branch of the plate 12, as shown in FIG. 4. When the 33 lever has fallen, at the end of the pile, its 32nd rubber buffer is placed on the path that the pick-up must run 6 after the hearing of the last record.
The 6 pick-up has a side lug 35 through which it abuts against the buffer 320. The disc press plate 12 being joined at an equal level of the rod 11 which, as will be explained later, can only turn under the action of a relatively high torque, which can only be applied manually, the pick-up is thus immobilized in its exit stroke at the end of the stack by the buffer 320 of the lever 35. To immobilize the pick-up, the branch of the disc press plate 12 which carries the lever 33 must be in the angular position shown in solid lines in fig. 2.
position that it occupies during the whole operation of the machine. To release the pick-up out of the field of the 30 cm discs, it suffices to turn the plate 12 clockwise to bring it to the position shown in dotted lines in fig. 2, which is the machine's stop position.
The rod 11 is elastically mounted on a plate 36 (fig. 1) fixed to the base plate < B> 1 by four columns 37, 38, 39, 40. It has on its lower end a sleeve 41 (fig. 5) fixed by two screws 42 and having an annular flange 41 'by which the rod rests, on the edges of a hole 43 made in the plate 36. The flange 41' is pressed against this plate by a washer to spring 44 resting on a flange 45 fixed to the plate 36 by two screws 46.
This 11 rod suspension device allows the rod to tilt at a certain angle, for example under the effect of a shock, without damage to itself results. This special protection of the rod against excessive forces and against shocks is made necessary by the fact that the rod is used to control the starting and stopping of the machine.
Furthermore, the purpose of the spring washer 44 is to create between the flange 41 'and the plate 36 a friction torque powerful enough for the rod 11 can only pivot with a sufficient force, for example so that it can only be pivoted using the disc press plate 12 mounted on its upper end - Read and the driving by the key 30 secured in the slot. 28. The pivoting of the Il rod is, moreover, limited angularly by a pin 47 planted in the flange 41! and engaging in an opening 48 in the form of an annular segment,
provided in the plate 36. The pin 47 has yet another function which consists of controlling a series of levers and which will be explained later.
The turntable 4 is mounted by its 4 "hub on an externally conical barrel 49, rotating freely on the rod 11 and supported by a ball bearing 50 . The barrel 49 carries a knocker 51 riveted to its lower end after the assembly of a friction device serving to fix a pinion to said barrel 52 < / B> serving to the drive of the control cam 53 of the -changing cycle.
This friction device comprises a washer 54 serving as a support for a to coil spring 55 intended to press the pinion 52 downwards against a felt washer 56 clamped in a metal cup 57 engaging in pairs pins 57 ' in a diameter slot 58 of the pinion 52; the felt washer 56 rests on the knocker 51. This friction device allows the pinion 52 to rotate with a certain friction torque on the barrel 49, thus avoiding jolts due to the inertia of the plate 4 loaded with disks when the engine is stopped at the end of the reserve disk stack.
This friction is made necessary by the fact that the pick-up immobilizer operates while the engine is still under tension. In addition, even after the current to the motor is cut off, the plate would continue, thanks to its inertia, to actuate the mechanism if this friction did not exist. The mechanism controlling the automatic motor stop when all the reserve discs have been played and the machine has been started up by a new series of hearings comprising the following components shown in figs. 8 to 12:
-a lever 59 neck smooth longitudinally on the plate 36 thanks to the engagement of two rollers -60 and 61, turning on corresponding pins 601, and 6la fixed respectively, by lever 59 and to the plate 36, in longitudinal slows 62 and 63 made respectively in the plate 36 and in the lever 59. < / B> The sliding lever sant 59 is controlled by a connecting rod,
64, one of the ends of which is pivoted on a pin 65 of the lever 59 on which it is retained by a clip 66 and whose the other end is articulated to a crank pin 67 carried by the toothed cam 53 for controlling the cycle, rotating on the axis 68 fixed to the plate 36. The sliding lever 59 has a side plate 59'_ itself presenting two pins 71,
72 engaged in two slow oblique 69 and 70 of-a coalisseau 73. The slider. 73 is capable of moving transversely to the longitudinal axis of the sliding lever 59 towards the side of which it is returned by a spring 74 attached < B> to one ear 75 of the lever 59 and to bare ear 76 of the slide 73.
The pick-up 7 arm is pivoted at 114 on two parallel lugs 1123 of a caliper 112; it is - around this horizontal axis 114 - that the pick-up rotates during the play of a disc according to the irregularities - of the surface of this disc and the variable level determined by the successive stacking of the discs on the tray 4.
The pivoting in a horizontal plane of the arm 7 takes place around the axis 8 by the intermediary of two screws with conical point 1151 and 1152 fixed. to -two other parallel ears'1121 and 1122 of the stirrup 112 and a cylindrical tenon < B> 116 attached to a neck piece 117;
this last part is itself fixed on an elbow lever 98 pivoting by two parallel ears 982 and 983 on a bracket 118 - fixed to the plate (the base- L By acting on the end 98, dil lever 98 we can thus pivot dextrorsum all this lever around a horizontal axis 111, and with it the vertical pivot axis 8 called the pick-up arm,
the spring 113 fixed to the end 782 of an arm 78 integral with the caliper 112 then takes contact with the bottom of the pick-up arm 7 and lift it, 77 is a vertical pin attached to the horizontal branch 78 ' of the arm 78. This pin 77 is placed on the path that the slide 73 runs on 59' and determines, when pushed by this slide 73, the senestrorsum pivoting called acoustic arm which brings the pick-up 6 towards the periphery of the discs.
It is also the 77 pin which, when the pick-up is immobilized at the end of the pile by the 32nd buffer of the lever (Pimmobili- sation 33, slides the slide 73 transversely to the lever 59 against the action of the return spring 74 to accomplish a function which will be explained later. 79 designates a current switch inserted in the circuit of the motor 3 whose wires are attached to terminals 80a and 80b. This switch comprises two pressure buttons 81 and 82, the first opening the circuit and stopping the engine,
the second - closing the circuit and switching on the motor. 83 is a fork for controlling the switch 79; it is rotated to </ B> friction on a pin 84 integral with a lever 85. At its free end, the fork 83, which is placed above the plate 36, has two ears 83a and 83 b < / B> bent at right angles, intended to act, the first on - the button 81, and the second on button 82 of switch 79 depending on the position of the fork. The pin 84 (fig. 12) is riveted, under the plate 36 which it crosses freely, to the lever 85; it rests on the plate by -a span 84 ".
Between the bearing 84a and the fork 83 is disposed a rubber washer 84b against which the fork 83 is pressed by a spring à flange 86 resting on a stopper 87 tight on the upper end of the pin 84.
The connection of the fork 83 with the lever 85 is thus ensured by a friction device, The, lever 85 present to < / B> its free end a window 88 limited by two nozzles 89a and 89 ', between which engages the curved nozzle 90a' formed by the end of the branch 90a of a 90 star-shaped three-pointed lever 9011, 9011, 90e,
pivoted on a pin 91 fixed under the plate 36. The gob branch of this lever 90 presents at its end free a notch 92 in which engages the solid pin 47 of the disc holder rod II. The 90th branch of the lever 90 present, at its free end,
-a transverse slot 93 into which engages a hooked end of a rod 94, the end of which is hooked into a hole 95 of an angled lever 96 pivoted on a pin 97 fixed under the elbow piece 98 forming part of the support for the vertical axis of pivoting of the acoustic arm 7. One of the branches 96a of the elbow lever 96 is maintained under the action of the spring 99 attached at 100 to plate 36. The other branch 96 b of the elbow lever 96 cooperates with a pin 101 </ B> solid with a lever 102 pivoted to 103 by means of a 1021 barrel,
riveted on 102 and carrying at its other end the rod 104 of detection- of the diameter of the disc to to play. This detection device 104, 102, 101, limits by the pin 101 the stroke of the elbow lever 96 depending on the disc falling from the on bearing face 10 on the turntable 4 is a 30 cm or 25 cm disc; and by the angled lever 96, the detection device determines the initial play position of the pick-up; in fact, the elbow lever 96 is capable of acting, when it pivots dextrorsum under the action of its return spring 99, on the pin 77 integral with the elbow arm 78 forming the upright of the acoustic arm 7.
The sliding lever 59 has on its side an ear 105 bent at right angles and presenting a ramp 1051 intended < B> to cooperate with the curved end 98 ' of the elbow piece 98 to determine the upward and downward movements of the acoustic arm 7. These movements, like the entire changer cycle, y including the supply of the discs (the reserve on the turntable 4 are controlled by the cam 53 entered, in rotation by the pinion 52 at the end of the hearing of each disc.
The device for automatically engaging and disengaging the cam 53 of which the knocker 51 is part also includes, among other components, the levers 1-06, 107, 108, the pin 109 integral with the elbow arm 78, and the spring 110 (fig. 8) .
The operation of the machine by lante to disc changer shown and which comes. to be described is as follows: Suppose the talking machine is playing a disc, for example the eighth of a series of ten discs, the last two of which are still resting on the bearing surface 10 </ B > of the rod 11.
At the end of the hearing of this eighth disc, the groove at fast step of this disc prints a pick-up - a sudden movement, towards the center and determines, by the mechanism of automatic clutch, of which reference has been made and of which the 51 clock is part, the clutch of the cam 53 with the pinion 52. </ B > The cam 53, acting by the connecting rod 64 on the sliding lever 59, pushes this latter towards the support of the acoustic arm 7. The ramp 105 ' of the ear 105 of the lever 59 acts on the curved end 98' of the part neck 98 integral with the support of the vertical pivot axis 8 of the arm,
support itself rotated around the horizontal axis 111. The pick-up 6 is thus lifted from the disc which has just been played. Simultaneously, the sliding lever sant 59 pushes, by the slide 73, outwards the pin 77 integral with the elbow arm 78 formed the upright of the acoustic arm 7, rotating the latter around the axis 8 which tilted. The pick-up comes out of the periphery of the discs.
The cam 53 then acts by a lever not shown on the pusher 14 which, sliding from bottom to top in the rod 11, causes the lever 18 to pivot; < / B> this releases the ninth disc from the support surface 10 and lets it drop onto the first eight discs resting on the turntable 4.
The last disc in the reserve stack takes the place of the ninth on surface 10 where it is held horizontal by the disc press plate 12 which rests on it by the three pads 32a, 32b and 32c. The cam 53 having completed lin a half turn, the sliding lever 59 is brought back by the connecting rod 64, leaving the pin 77 free. which is brought back by the lever 96 returned by the spring 99, while the ramp 105 ' is from top to bottom by the elbow piece 98. The 6 pick-up returns. therefore land on the outer sil lons of ninth disk.
The initial play position of the pick-up is determined by the travel of the lever 96 limited by the pin, 101 of the lever 102 of detection whose rod 104 was actuated in passing through the ninth disc, if this disc was a 30 cm disc, and left in place, if this disc was a 25 cm. The complete cycle of the changer having been completed when the cam 53 has made one revolution, this cam is again automatically disengaged, by the aforementioned mechanism, from the pinion 52 < / B> and the 6 pick-up plays the ninth disc.
A the end of the audition of this ninth disc, the same cycle is repeated in its entirety: the 6 pick-up lifts, comes out from </ B > the periphery of the discs and comes back to rest on the outer grooves of the last disc which in the meantime is ash on the nine others.
A the end of the audition of the last disc, the cam 53 is again engaged on the pinion 52 and actuated by the connecting rod 64 the sliding lever 59 acting at both by its ramp 105 ' on the elbow piece 98 and by the anterior face of the slide 73 on the pin 77 integral with the elbow arm 78. The pick-up 6 < / B> rises and begins its usual movement of exit. But on its way out, it comes up with its 35 ear against the 32nd pad of the 33 lever articulated to the disc press plate 12, lever which, as soon as the last disc was lowered, was no longer supported and had fallen into the position shown in fig. 4.
The 6 pick-up being immobilized, the pin 77 which is integral with the acoustic arm is immobilized. But the cam 53 continuing to turn, the sliding lever 59 continues to de- < / B> place towards the outside and, the spring 74 yielding, the slide 73, still in contact with the pin 77, moves obliquely and activates the lug 8311 of the fork 83 which pivots on pin 84 and actuates the 81 button of the switch < B> 79, opening the circuit of the engine 3 and stopping it.
At the moment when the current is cut off, the turntable 4 continues to to rotate by inertia; the cam 53 being immobilized in gear position with the pinion 52, the friction device mounted on the barrel 49 allows to the latter to turn a little more in relation to the 52 pinion while gradually braking it.
Fig. 9 represents the various components of the stop mechanism at the end of the stack of discs in the position they occupy when the current has just been cut; the dextrorsum pivot. fork 83 did not actuate the lever 85 to because of the friction device mounted on the pin 84 and because the goal lip of the branch 901, of the star lever 90 is located in the window 88 of the lever 85, against the nose 89a of this lever, which can be considered fixed at this time.
The pin 47 integral with the disc purging rod Il is located at the left end (in fig. 8 and 9 ) of the open-Read 48 in the board 36, corresponding position. to the running position of the talking machine and to </ B> the position shown in solid lines in fig. 2 of the board. disc press, 12.
The pin 47 engaged in the slow 92 of the branch 901, of the star lever 90 has maintained this lever in the position shown in both figs. 8 and 9, With the engine stopped, to load again the disc holder rod, either by replacing the discs already played, either by threading others on the rod 11, after removing the discs played, you must first release the pick - up 6 </ B> of the 32nd blocking buffer to allow the passage of discs played from bottom to ha.-Reads along the rod, 11. To release the pick-up which, once free,
comes out on its own to the outside of the periphery of the discs, it suffices to turn by the disc press plate 12 clockwise by hand. shows indicated in, fig. 2 by the arrow f to bring it to the position shown in dotted lines in this figure.
By this -man # ime, the pin 47 integral with the rod. 11, which is driven in rotation by the key 30 of the plate 12, moves in opening 48 in the direction indicated by the arrow f in fig. 9 and comes to a stop at the other end of this opening;
driven senestrorsum by the pin, 47, the star lever 90 exerts by its branch 90th - a traction on the rod 94 which rotates the lever 96 < / B> senestrorsLim around 97, and this lever 96 leaves the pin 77 integral with the acoustic arm free to move outwards , the inclination of the pivot 8 axis of this arm allowing the pick-up to come out of itself from the periphery of the discs.
This movement of the pin 77 is also favored by the thrust of the slide 73 which takes its place along the side of the sliding lever 59 under the action of its return spring 74. It y should be observed that the intense pivoting of the star lever 90 moves the spout 90a 'of its branch 90a in the window 88 of the lever 85 until it abuts against the spout 891 of this lever.
The dextrorsal displacement of the 85 lever which results does not cause any corresponding displacement- of the fork 83 which is already at < / B> limit switch, but is absorbed by the friction device mounted on the pin 84.
After loading, the reserve discs and the disc press plate 12 being in place on the rod 11, we can proceed to the start-up. To do this, it suffices to turn plate 12 anti-clockwise by hand by to bring it into the position shown in solid lines in fig. 2. This rotation of the plate 12 returns the pin 47 to the end of the opening 48 in the position shown in FIG. 9.
The beak 901- 'of the branch 90a of the star lever 90 is moved by this rotation in the window 88 of the lever 85 and pushed the spout 891, thus rotating this 85 senestrorsum lever. By the friction mounted on the pin 84, this rotation is transmitted to the fork 83 whose ear 83 b presses the button < B> 82 of switch 79, closing the motor circuit 3 and starting this motor.
The motor drives the record player 4 by the poalie, of friction 5; the plate # 1 drags the barrel 49 and the pinion 52 which strikes with the cam < B> 53; this one activates the push-button 14 which lowers the disc to play on the plate 4 and, by the connecting rod 64, it simultaneously activates the sliding lever < B> 59. This lever first moves outwards, pushing the pin, which is attached to the acoustic arm towards the outside, with a dewlap that the pick-up does not interfere with. the descent says disk.
The pin 77 drives in its movement the elbow lever 96 which, in pivoting as well as senestrorsum, moves the rod 94 by its end hooked in 95, the other end of said rod 4pla # ant in the slot 93 of the branch 900 of the star lever 90. The 59 lever then moves inward.
The senestorsum rotation of the pin 47 causes a dextrorsum rotation of the star lever 90 which the branch 900 no longer pulls on. the rod 94; the elbow lever 96, -rap peeled by the spring 99, swivels dextrorsum and pushes inwards the pin 77 integral with the acoustic arm until 'that the 961 arm of said. lever 96 comes up against the pin pille 101 of the detection lever 102 which limits its travel and determines the initial play position of the pick -up depending on the. disc which has just descended on turntable 4 is a 25 or 30 cm disc.
It is also important to note that the mechanism described above, which automatically stops the motor at the end of the disc stack, can be operated manually to stop the motor and therefore machine at any time, whether there are still spare discs on the rod 1-1 or there isn't. To do this, just turn by the disc press plate 12 by hand in the direction of the arrow f (fig. 2).
By this rotation, the pin 47 which, when the machine is running, is always in the position shown in FIG. 9, in the open-Read 48, moves in this opening-Turkish until its a-Liter end following the arrow f and drives senestrorsum the star lever 90. The nozzle 90a 'of the latter acts on the nozzle 891, 4u lever 85 making this last dextrorsum pivot;
the rotation of the lever 85 is transmitted to the fork 83 which swivels outward, pressing by its ear 83a on the button 81 of the switch which cuts the current to the motor. The rotation of the star-shaped lever 90 also causes by the rod 94 the senestrorsiun rotation of the lever 96 against the action of its return spring 99. </ B > The pin 77 of the acoustic arm remains at the place it occupies when the plate 12 is maneuvered and the pick-up therefore also remains in the position he occupies at at this time.
