Combustion device. (Mette invention relates to a combustion device of an internal combustion turbine installation, intended, in particular, to be supplied with (kerosene, diesel oil or other liquids with a high ignition point. , and comprising at least one outer casing in which the compressed air arrives, and at least one combustion chamber disposed inside this casing.
The object of the invention is to. realization of a device of this type ensuring. complete combustion and in which none of the parts of the chamber (the combustion is. overheated fairy fac, it detrimental.
To this end, this device is characterized according to the present invention in that the. side wall of the combustion chamber comprises several elements extending through. following one another in the direction of the air flow and arranged so that the adjacent ends of any two consecutive elements overlap, leaving between them a gap forming a passage whose end downstream end opens into the combustion chamber to allow air to enter the combustion chamber through these wise steps and to flow along the inner surface of the wall elements located downstream of the first and thus thermally insulate them. of the mixture
ignited, the combustion chamber being limited, at its upstream end., by a bottom carrying several tubes extending inside this chamber and the downstream ends of which are curved upstream in the form of a J, said bottom carrying, in addition, nozzles opening into the chamber ormbustion by elongated orifices, the primary air entering. in the. combustion chamber by the J-shaped tubes, in which liquid fuel is injected to burn in said. primary air, and secondary air entering the combustion chamber through the nozzles, the outlet of each tube being J-shaped.
located with respect to a part of the bottom lying between two adjacent nozzles and the plane passing through the axis of each nozzle and through the longitudinal axis of its elongated orifice forming an angle of at least 60 with the. straight line joining the centers of the outlet openings of two J tubes including. the outlet orifices are opposite parts of the bottom situated on either side of this nozzle.
The drawing represents, at. by way of example, an embodiment of the device which is the subject of the invention.
Fig. 7 is a sectional elevation along 7-7 of FIG. 2 of one of the outer casings and of one of the combustion chambers that this embodiment comprises.
Fig. 2 is a cross section on 2-2 of the. fig. 1.
The device, the drawing of which shows one of the combustion chambers, comprises several chambers similar to that shown, these chambers being of circular section, arranged around a common axis of symmetry, before their longitudinal axes omitted in the same direction as this axis of symmetry, and communicating with each other by lateral ducts 43, two of which are shown in FIG. 2. Each combustion chamber is.
arranged inside an outer casing 13, of elongated shape, into which the compressed air arrives and which ends, at its exhaust end, in a con vergent tube 14, inside which the products of combustion, that is. then practically completed, mix with the dilution air which flows through the annular section passage 15, formed between the casing 13 and the combustion chamber. The side wall of the latter comprises three circular cylindrical sleeves 16, 17 and 18, extending one after the other in the direction of the air flow.
The downstream end of the sleeve 16 penetrates into the upstream end of the sleeve 1.7 so as to leave Lin inter valle forming an annular section passage 19, the downstream end of which opens into the. combustion chamber to allow part of the air passing through passage 1.5 to enter the combustion chamber! and to flow along the inner surface of the sleeve 17. Likewise, part of the air passing through passage 15 enters the.
combustion chamber by a passage of annular section 20, opening into this chamber by its downstream end and formed between the sleeves 17 and. 18, in the same way as for the sleeves 16 and 17. This air flows along the inner surface of the sleeve 18. Thus, the sleeves 1.7 and 18 are thermally insulated from the flamed mixture which is in the chamber. combustion chamber.
The combustion chamber is. limited, at its upstream end, by a bottom 22, comprising a disc 23, a central part of which is fitted into an annular disc 24, welded to the adjacent edge of the first sleeve 16. The disc 23 carries four tubes 28 extending to inside the combustion chamber and communicating by their front ends with the space located upstream of the bottom 22. The downstream ends of the tubes 28 are bent upstream in the form of a J and the axes of the front parts of these tubes are in a cylindrical surface having for axis the common axis of the sleeves 16, 17 and 18.
A liquid fuel, such as kerosene; is injected through their inlet orifices into the tubes 28, @ where it is, brought under pressure by the fuel supply tubes 29. This fuel, injected into the so-called primary air, entering the orifices of admission of the tubes 28, with this air forms a flammable mixture which escapes into the combustion chamber through the outlet orifices 27 of these tubes 28 into the space surrounding the tubes 28; this mixture is diluted in this space by the so-called secondary air which arrives there in sufficient quantity for. ensure practically complete combustion.
The burnt gas mixture then leaves the exhaust end 31 of the combustion chamber to mix with the dilution air coming from the passage 15. Mixing devices 32 are attached to the. inner face of the tube, 14. A series of these devices can be arranged any. around the inside of the tube 14.
The secondary air is brought into the combustion chamber by nozzles 35 opening into this chamber through slits 34 and giving -Lin fan jet. These nozzles are carried by the disc 23 and communicate with the space upstream of the bottom 22 by openings in the disc 24. The nozzles 35 are arranged so that the outlet orifice 27 of each tube 28 is opposite. of a part (lu -Fond 22 lying between two adjacent nozzles.
The centers of the outlet ports of the nozzles are in a circular cylindrical surface having the same axis as the sleeves 16, 17 and 18 and. the axes of the outlet ends of the tubes 28 are also located in a circular cylindrical surface coaxial with the previous one, the anterior ends of the tubes 28 located at. the interior of this second cylindrical surface which could also merge with the. first. The center of the outlet port of each tube 28 is equidistant from the centers of the outlet ports of two adjacent nozzles and the passing planes. by the axes of the nozzles 35 and by the longitudinal axes of their exit slots 34 pass through the common axis. of said cylindrical surfaces.
In addition, the plane defined above of each nozzle 35 is perpendicular to the line connecting the centers of the outlet orifices 27 of two tubes 28, the orifices 27 of which are opposite parts of the bottom 22 situated on either side. other of this nozzle. The secondary air is. thus fan-shaped, between adjacent outlet orifices 27, into the ignited mixture of primary air and liquid fuel, so that practically complete combustion is ensured in the combustion chamber, despite its very low axial length and excessive heating of the J-shaped tubes is. satisfactorily prevented.
The heat released into the space surrounding these tubes serves to bring them to a temperature at which the liquid fuel is. sufficiently vaporized to ensure its in time mixing with the primary air, which also helps to accelerate combustion.
The intermediate sleeve 7.7 of the side wall of the combustion chamber is connected to the sleeves 16 and. 18 by means of wedges 37, welded to these sleeves. The intermediate sleeve 1.7 is supported at four points by the outer casing 1.3. At one of these points is disposed a radial tube 39, internally threaded to receive a position screw 40, which engages in a housing 42 fixed to the outer surface of the outer casing 13. At another point , the intermediate sleeve 17 is fixed to the outer casing 13 by means of an ignition device shown at 42.
This device can be constituted by an ignition burner (as shown at 42 in Fig. 2) or by an auxiliary fuel injector device.
At the other two support points are located lateral tubular elements 1.2, 12. These elements each contain an inner tube 43, intended for. conducting the ignited gases from inside the illustrated combustion chamber to the two adjacent combustion chambers. A tube 44 passing through the element 12, spaced from the inner tube 43, and surrounding the latter is fixed to the casing 13 and serves to connect the space 15, through which the dilution air passes, surrounding the. combustion chamber shown with the corresponding space surrounding the neighboring chamber and formed between the latter and the outer casing which surrounds it.
The sleeves 16, 17 and 18 are notched, as shown at 46, to give them some flexibility and to prevent them from deforming under working conditions, at the points where they are attached to each other.
