Paper making machine. The present invention relates to a paper-making machine, which is. characterized in that it comprises a so-called vacuum cylinder intended to receive the sheet of wet paper coming from a forming wire, which cylinder cooperates with at least two pressing cylinders and has a suction compartment for each of these pressing cylinders, and an endless felt passing between the so-called vacuum cylinder and the first pressing cylinder at least, to prevent the. wet sheet to adhere to the latter.
The fact. to avoid adhesion of; the sheet of paper to the first pressure cylinder at least prevents the elongation of the sheet, elongation which could thwart the subsequent passage of the. sheet in the clamping area of the next presser cylinder and prevent the machine from operating satisfactorily.
A combination, preferably of two (or more) press rolls with a single said cylinder. empty, allows to obtain a very compact, economical and compact machine; its operation also requires less power. The position (the cylinders are generally horizontal, the weight of the pressure cylinders preferably providing the pressure at the clamping areas. This pressure can. Be reinforced or adjusted by mechanical, hydraulic or other means. All cylinders can be driven, but preferably only the so-called vacuum cylinder is dragged. One embodiment and variations of the machine object of the invention are.
described below, by way of example, with reference to the accompanying drawing, in which: FIG. 1 is a schematic and partial view of this embodiment.
Figs. 2 to 6 are variants.
In the embodiment shown in FIG. 1., an endless forming wire 10 passes over a usual coating cylinder 11 and over a return cylinder 12, the sheet of paper 13 being separated from the. forming fabric between the couching cylinder and the return cylinder by a so-called cylinder. at. empty 14 and. an endless transfer felt 15, passing between the cylinder 14 and the forming wire.
Endless felt 15 leads from cylinder 14 to a so-called cylinder. vacuum 16 provided with two pressure cylinders 17, 18 resting on the cylinder 16. The pressure cylinders little wind. exert pressure on the cylinder 16 either simply because of their own weight, or by elastic means. In the China shown, they are carried by frames 19, 20 pivoting around pivots 21. 22 and springs 23. 24, acting on arms 25, 26 of the frames, reinforce. the pressure exerted by the press rolls.
The felt 15 has a direct strand between the cylinder 14 and the first presser cylinder 17 and then passes around this presser cylinder, and returns to the cylinder 14 by passing around fixed cylinders 27, a guide cylinder 28 and d 'a tension cylinder 29.
An endless felt strip 30 passes over the cylinder 16, between this cylinder and the two pressure cylinders 17, 18, the felt strip further passing over cylinders 31, a guide cylinder 32 and a tension cylinder 33, -an cylinder 311 being mounted so that the felt 30 or pressure felt converges towards the wet sheet 13 being driven to the inlet of the first pressure cylinder 17 on the felt 15.
The cylinder 16 comprises a perforated bronze casing 34 arranged around a stationary suction box 35 having three suction compartments 36, 37 and 38. The compartments 36, 37 cooperate respectively with sectors of the cylinder 16 corresponding to the sections. first and second pressing cylinders 17 and 18, the third compartment 38 corresponds to a sector of the cylinder 16 disposed just downstream of the second pressing cylinder.
By virtue of this third compartment, the water brought into the perforations of the cylinder 16, between the cylinders 16 and 18, is sucked from these perforations into this compartment by a current of high speed air. In a variant, the compartment 38 can be connected to a blower so that the water lodged in the perforations of the cylinder 16 is expelled towards the periphery by a violent current of air - instead of being sucked into this compartment. .
During the operation of the machine shown, the wet sheet 13 taken on the forming fabric 10 is transported by the felt 15 to the clamping zone between the first pressure roller 17 and the cylinder 16 where it meets the pressure felt 30 , the two felts, with the wet sheet of paper interposed, then passing between the two cylinders. The sheet of paper is subjected to pressure treatment, and the water thus squeezed from the sheet is discharged through the suction compartment 36 or drawn into the perforations of the cylinder.
The suction also pulls the sheet, as it passes through the clamping area, from the transfer felt 15 onto the pressure felt 30 which conveys the sheet to the clamping area of the second pressure cylinder 18, where the water is again. squeezed from the sheet and discharged through the suction compartment 37. After passing between the rolls 16 and 18, the sheet is removed from the pressure felt by the roll 18, then passes over a roller 39 and between a pair of equalizer cylinders 40, 41 from which it passes to dryers 42, 43.
In the variant of FIG. 2, the transfer felt 15 passes from the clamping area of the first pressing cylinder 17 on the cylinder 16, and passes through the clamping area of the second pressing cylinder 18, around which it is rolled, before passing around the cylinders 27, 28 and 29. The pressure felt 30 passes from the clamping zone of the second pressure cylinder to the clamping zone of two equalizing cylinders 44, 45, before passing over the cylinders 31, 32 and 33.
In this variant, the wetted sheet is transported by the transfer felt 15 to the clamping area of the first pressure cylinder 17, it is then trapped between the transfer felt and the pressure felt 30 and transported on the cylinder 16. towards the clamping zone of the second pressing cylinder 18, the water being expressed from the sheet by the suction compartments 36, 37 (as already described in relation to FIG. 1) during its passage between the two zones Clamping.
From the second clamping zone, the sheet is taken over the pressure felt to the entry of the equalizing rollers 44, 45 and, after passing between them, it is withdrawn from the pressure felt by the equalizing cylinder 44, then passes on cylinder 39, towards dryers 42, 43.
In the variant of FIG. 3, the transfer felt 15 passes over the cylinder 16 and through the clamping zone of the second pressure cylinder 18, as in .the variant of FIG. 2. However, the pressure felt 30, on leaving the clamping area of the second pressure cylinder 18, descends directly on the first dryer 42 around which it winds a short distance before winding on a roller. presser 46 and on cylinders 31, 32 and 33.
In this variant, the sheet of paper is transported over the pressure felt 30 from the clamping zone of the second pressure cylinder 18 to the dryer 42, then it is removed from the felt by this dryer just after the pressure zone of the pressure cylinder. pressure 46.
In the variant of FIG. 4, the cylinder 16 operates with three pressure rollers 47, 48, 49 arranged as shown, the central cylinder 48 being located approximately above the axis of the cylinder 16 and the cylinders 47, 49 resting on the cylinder 16 of on either side of cylinder 48.
The transfer felt 15 passes from the clamping area of the first presser cylinder 47 to the clamping area of the second presser cylinder 48, around which it winds before passing over the cylinders 27, 28, 29. pressure 30 passes over the cylinder 16, between the clamping zones of the first and third pressing cylinders 47, 49, then directly onto the cylinders 31, 32, 33.
The wet sheet is fed by the transfer felt. 15 to the clamping zone of the first pressing cylinder 47, where it is trapped between the transfer felt. and the pressure felt 30, then transported on the cylinder 16 between the first and the second clamping zone. After passing the second zone, it is detached from the transfer felt and then brought by the pressure felt into the clamping zone of the third pressure cylinder 49, from which it passes over the cylinder 39, to the driers 42, 43 In this variant, the cylinder 16 is provided with a suction box 35a. with three corresponding suction com partments 50, 51, 52. to the three pressure cylinders 47, 48 and 49.
Fig. 5 shows a variant of the trajectory of the pressure felt 30 and of the sheet of paper on the cylinder 16 between the two pressure rolls 17 and 18. A small cylinder 53 is located just above the cylinder 16, between the cylinders pressers 17, 18, the pressure felt 30 and the. sheet of paper 13 passing over cylinder 53, as shown.
The length of the felt 30 and of the sheet is therefore greater, between the clamping zones of the two pressing rolls, than the arc of the. circumference of cylinder 16 located between these two zones, and thanks to this arrangement, if a portion of the felt and of the sheet is in front of a determined hole of cylinder 16 in the first clamping zone, this portion cannot be sucked through the same hole when it is in the clamping area of the second pressing cylinder. This prevents deformation of the sheet of paper at the. following its suction through the same hole all along the arc of cylinder 16, between the two clamping zones.
In this variant, the suction compartments 54, 55 of the suction boxes 35c, 35a, are of restricted widths so as to act only in the two clamping zones proper, each of the suction compartments 54 and 55 being followed by a sweeping compartment, respectively 56 and 57, with strong suction, intended for. empty the perforations of the cylinder 16. These sweeping compartments can also, in a variant, be connected to a blower so that the water lodged in the perforations is. driven out instead of being sucked.
In the variant of FIG. 6, the assembly constituted by the cylinders 16, 17, 18 of the embodiment of FIG. 1 is. split into 16a, 17a, 18a, the cylinder 16a having a suction box 35ca and a pressure felt 30r. A transfer felt 59 passes around cylinders 18 and 17ca to convey sheet of paper 13 from cylinder 16 to cylinder 16a.
The pressing rolls can of course also be perforated and provided with suction devices corresponding to their clamping zones and. from scanners to. more pronounced action intended to empty their perforations.
The cylinder says. vacuum and the pressing rolls may have a rubber coating, perforated or not for the pressing cylinders depending on whether the latter are provided or not with suction devices. The transfer of the sheet between the forming wire and the so-called vacuum cylinder is preferably effected by a transfer felt, as shown in the drawing, the transfer of the sheet of paper from the forming wire to this felt can be .assured manually or mechanically, in particular by means of a suction device in the latter case.
