Fig. 3 einen der in Fig. 1 angedeuteten Pendel,
Fig. 4 einen sogenannten Tangential Spannungsverteiler,
Fig. 5 einen Steuerstromkreis nach Fig. 1 und
Damit

Device for the automatic control and stabilization of air or water vehicles around at least one control axis.
The present invention relates to a device for the automatic control and stabilization of air or water vehicles around at least one control axis.
It is known to steer aircraft about three axes, namely pitch, bank and turn, and a watercraft about an axis for turning. It is also known to bring about stabilization about at least one control axis by providing a deviation display device that indicates a change in the spatial position of the vehicle around a control axis from a predetermined position and actuates a switching device that controls a servomotor that actuates a corresponding control flat to make the vehicle stable and return it to its predetermined position.
In this known arrangement, the holding device generally consists of two parts, one of which is operated by the display device and the other is mechanically coupled to the servomotor, so that the servomotor is operated according to the amount of misalignment between display device and servomotor .
In an automatic control device of this type, the usual measure for changing the predetermined position consists in shifting one of these two parts of the switching device with respect to its actuating element by an amount that corresponds to the desired change in position in such a way to bring about an artificial alignment deviation so that the vehicle changes its position until the part of the switching device which can be actuated by the deviation display device,
is rectified with respect to the part of the switching device connected to the servomotor.
The aim of the present invention is to create a device for automatic control which does not make use of the above-mentioned display of the alignment deviation for stabilization, but the signal of the alignment deviation can be used as a warning signal, i.e. this signal is not used for stabilization in the case of short-term disturbances, but to restore the aircraft around the corresponding control axis to the desired position after the disturbances have been eliminated by other stabilizing means. Furthermore, the device can be used to prevent instability and pendulum visual vibrations without impairing the changes in position to be brought about.
The device according to the invention has a device responding to a rotational speed of the vehicle about at least one control axis for emitting a first signal and a servomotor for actuating a control surface of the vehicle for the purpose of controlling the vehicle around the control axis and is characterized by responsive to the movement speed of the control surface Means for outputting a second signal, the first and the second signal being the opposite of the input power of an amplifier whose output power is used to control the servo motor,
and further characterized by changing means for initiating course changes of the vehicle with respect to the control axis at a predetermined speed, the control surface being movable around the control axis for stabilization of the vehicle at a speed which is at least approximately proportional to the rotational speed of the vehicle around the control axis. and wherein the course of the vehicle with respect to the steering axis can be changed at a predetermined speed by actuating the changing means.
An exemplary embodiment of the invention is shown in the accompanying drawing. It shows :
1 shows a schematic representation of the system of an automatic control device for controlling an aircraft around all three axes,
2 shows a gyro, which responds to the rotational speed of the vehicle about one of its axes, for controlling a voltage,
3 shows one of the pendulums indicated in FIG. 1,
4 shows a so-called tangential stress distributor,
5 shows a control circuit according to FIGS. 1 and
6 shows a diagram of a tube circuit for applying the signal difference to an alternating current signal circuit.
As shown in Fig. 1, the aeronautical vehicle is stabilized around all three axes by means of three gyroscopes responding to rotational speed around these axes. A gyro 1 responsive to rotational speed around the vertical axis controls the rudder 2 to stabilize the aircraft for turning, with a direction gyro 3 controlled by a magnetic compass serving as a course indicator during straight-ahead flight.
A gyro 5 responsive to the rotational speed about the longitudinal axis 12 controls the ailerons 6 in order to stabilize the aircraft during taxiing, a transverse inclination pendulum 7 serving as a bank angle indicator. A gyro 8, which is responsive to the rotational speed about the transverse axis 14, controls the altitude control 9 in order to stabilize the aircraft in the pitch angle, a pitch pendulum 10 serving as pitch indicator.
The three gyroscopes 1, 5 and 8, which respond to rotational speed, and the longitudinal inclination pendulum 10 are arranged on a base plate 11 which is articulated around the longitudinal axis 12 in a cardan ring 13 which is rotatably supported in the aircraft around the transverse axis 14. The base plate 11 can be rotated about the longitudinal axis 12 relative to the ring 13 by means of a motor 15 which is arranged on the ring 13. The ring 13 can be rotated relative to the aircraft about the transverse axis 14 by means of a motor 16 arranged on the aircraft.
The base plate 11 can thus be moved into any desired position, that is to say in a longitudinal inclination or in a transverse inclination position relative to the aircraft by means of two motors 15 and 16, and during straight flight conditions the base plate lies in the plane formed by the longitudinal and transverse axes.
Each of the control surfaces, the rudder 2, ailerons 6 and elevator 9, is coupled via a coupling 17 and a gear box 18 to an electric hysteresis motor 19, which can be constructed as described in the English patent specification no. 576248/576249 is. Each motor 19 is wound for two-phase operation, one phase (reference phase) being coupled to an AC power source 20 and the other phase, the control phase, coupled to the output of an amplifier 21. Each engine 19 is coupled to a hysteresis generator 22 of the type set forth in British Patent Specification No. 576351.
Each generator is also wound for two-phase operation, with one phase connected to the power source 20 so that a voltage proportional to the speed of the generator and therefore the motor is generated in the other phase.
The gyroscopes responsive to rotational speed about the respective axes are described below, and it is sufficient for understanding of FIG. 1 to note that a voltage is generated between the output terminals of each rotationally responsive gyroscope which is proportional to the rotational speed and of the same frequency like that of source 20, but has a phase shift of 90¯. which either lags or leads, depending on whether the rotation takes place in one direction or the other. The pendulums and their electrical circuits are also described in detail below, and it is sufficient to understand the Fig.
1, to state that a voltage is achieved between the electrical output connections which is proportional to the deviation of the pendulum from its central position and has the same frequency as the source 20, but has a phase shift of 90 "which is either normal - or leads, the closer the deviation occurs in one or the other direction. After this preceding explanation, the mode of operation of the individual control surfaces will now be considered in detail.
When looking primarily at how the elevator control works, it is clear that the sum of three voltages is applied to the input of amplifier 21 of the elevator control. These tensions are proportional to the angular speed at which the aircraft completes its longitudinal inclination, which is measured by the gyroscope 8 responding to the rotational speed around the transverse axis, or to the deviation of the longitudinal inclination of the base plate 11 from the apparent horizontal, as indicated by the Longitudinal inclination pendulum 10 and the speed of the motor 19 is measured.
The pendulum 10 is purely a display element, i.e. it emits a relatively weak signal, in comparison to the signals that result from the gyro 8, which is responsive to the rotational speed, and the generator, and its influence on the operation of the motor 19 can be be neglected during a disruption. The signal of the pendulum 1 O only comes into play. when the stabilization by means of the gyro 8 has ended without the plate 11 being completely horizontal.
The motor 19 works in the following way: If s is the signal generated by the gyro 8, v is the speed of the motor 19 and thus of the generator 22 and g is the gain of the amplifier 21, then it follows: (sùAv) g = output voltage of the amplifier 21 = f (v); where 1 is a constant and f (v) is a function of f. In order to
1 becomes: s = Av + .f (v): since g is taken as greater than y, is: s # A.r. Accordingly, the speed of the motor 19 is approximately proportional to the signal generated by the gyro 8, regardless of the speed / input voltage characteristic of the motor 19.
The motor 19 and consequently also the elevator control 9 are therefore moved at a speed proportional to the longitudinal inclination speed. The consequence of this is that any disturbance of the pitch will be stabilized very quickly. If, after the disturbance of the longitudinal inclination is stabilized, the base plate 11 is not horizontal in the longitudinal direction, the longitudinal inclination pendulum 10 gives an electrical signal that acts on the control 9 until the base plate 11 is set horizontally.
The operation of the aileron control is first considered when flying straight ahead. As is explained below, in straight flight conditions there are two contacts 23, which are shown in a position in which they briefly close the bank pendulum 7, * in the open position. It follows that the control of the ailerons 6 is similar to that of the elevator, in that by actuating the ailerons at a speed proportional to the roll speed, as measured by the gyro 5 responsive to the rotational speed, the aircraft stabilizes against rolling and after every disturbance is brought into the horizontal position by signals from the slope pendulum 7.
In this case of aileron control, however, the pendulum 7, in contrast to the pendulum 10, is arranged on the aircraft and not on the base plate 11.
If the pendulum 7 were arranged on the base plate 11 and the aircraft was disturbed about the longitudinal axis for whatever reason, the base plate 11 could nevertheless adjust itself horizontally so that the pendulum 7 would not deflect.
Before considering the operation of the rudder control circuit, it is necessary to say a word about its components. As in the other circuits, there is a gyro 1 which responds to the rotational speed around the vertical axis and measures the turning speed. A tangential voltage divider 24 is arranged on the axis 14.
This is described in more detail below, and it is sufficient for the understanding of FIG. 1 to state that a Spanmmg occurs across the output connections of the voltage divider 24 which is proportional to the tangent of the angle by which the base plate 11 rolls from its normal central position through the Motor 16 is rotated, and which has the same frequency as the source 20, but has a phase shift of 90, which either leads or leads, depending on whether the rotation takes place in one or the other direction. A pendulum 25, which is the same as the pendulum 7 in every respect, is provided in order to indicate lateral sliding.
A signal proportional to the deviation around the axis of elevation is received from the directional gyro 3 by means of an electrical induction transmitter 26 and receiver 27 of the type known under the trademark “Selsyn”. The rotor winding of the transmitter 26 is fed with single-phase alternating current from a source 43 which is 90 out of phase with the source 20 but of the same frequency, and the mentioned rotor is rotated by the directional gyro 3.
If the rotor winding of the receiver 27 is short-circuited, the rotor will follow the movements of the transmitter rotor, and if at any moment the receiver is firmly disconnected from its winding, a voltage will appear between the ends of this winding which is proportional to the deviations of the transmitter rotor and therefore also those of the directional gyro 3 relative to the vehicle from the positions that they occupied in the relevant eye.
In the same way, signals proportional to the deviations in the rudder are received by means of a transmitter 28 and receiver 29. As before, a short circuit of the rotor winding of the receiver 29 causes it to follow the movements of the rotor of the transmitter 28 and therefore also those of the rudder, and the holding of the rotor of the receiver 29 and the cancellation of the short circuit cause a voltage between the ends the rotor tilt of the receiver 29 occurs, which is proportional to the deviations of the rudder from the position it was assuming when the rotor was held.
The mode of operation of the rudder 2 shall first be considered for the case in which the aircraft is flying straight ahead. Under these conditions, two relays 30 and 31, which are shown in their energized positions in FIG. 1, are de-energized. (The relays 30 and 31 are automatically excited when the base plate 11 rotates about the longitudinal axis.) When the relay 30 is de-energized, the brake member 32 moves to the left in the drawing, releases the rotor of the receiver 29 and holds the rotor of the receiver 27 fixed. At the same time, the rotor winding of the receiver 29 is short-circuited and the short-circuit circuit of the receiver 27 is canceled.
The rotor of the receiver 29 will therefore follow the rudder movements, as explained above, so that its winding is kept in a position in which the voltage in the motor winding is zero.
In the meantime, a voltage occurs between the ends of the rotor vibration of the receiver 27, which is proportional to the deviations of the turning position of the aircraft from the course on which it was just when the relay 30 was de-energized. When the relay 31 is de-energized, the aforementioned contacts 23 are opened and two contacts 33 are closed in order to short-circuit the output terminals of the pendulum 25.
Thus, the only signals occurring in the rudder control circuit consist of a signal proportional to the turning speed from the gyro 1, which responds to the rotational speed, a signal from receiver 27 proportional to the deviation from the course and a signal from generator 22 proportional to the rudder speed The aircraft is thus stabilized against interferences in the turn and is thus kept on the correct course, according to the above-mentioned signals analogous to the above-described elevator and aileron controls.
The course is changed by turning the aircraft cross-bank. To do this, the gimbal 13 is rotated by the motor 16 and the relays 30 and 31 are energized. The aircraft is thus rolling in. the same extent, but rotated in the opposite direction to the cardan ring 13 in order to keep the base plate 11 in a horizontal position. When the aircraft has been turned through the desired bank angle, the motor 16 is stopped. Any disturbance of the pendulum 7 during the rotation cannot influence the aileron control, since the output of this pendulum is now short-circuited by closing the contacts 23.
The rotation of the gimbal ring 13 generates a signal from the tangential voltage divider 24 which is proportional to the tangent of the bank angle of the aircraft.
As is well known, for a correct bank rotation, the azimuthal rotation speed is directly proportional to the tangent of the bank angle and inversely proportional to the absolute flight speed. The constant of proportionality of the tangential voltage divider 24 is chosen so that it emits an identical but opposite signal to that which is emitted by the organ 1 responsive to the rotational speed when the aircraft is turning at the correct speed and traveling at its cruising speed.
In operation, the aircraft will rotate so that these two signals remain the same and will therefore rotate at the speed set by the tangential voltage divider 24. The excitation of the relay 30 triggers the rotor of the receiver 27 and at the same time causes its winding to be short-circuited.
The rotor thus follows the movements of the direction gyro 3 during rotation. When the relay 31 is excited, the contacts 33 open and the pendulum 25 switches on to indicate that the device has slipped sideways; if the aircraft is turning at the correct speed, no signal is emitted from pendulum 25, since the gravitational force of the centrifugal force acting on the pendulum maintains equilibrium, so that it is held in a position in which no signal is generated.
If, on the other hand, the aircraft does not turn at the correct speed, e.g. B. if the absolute airspeed is not equal to the cruising speed, lateral gliding will occur and the pendulum 25 emits a signal, since the two mentioned forces are no longer in equilibrium, in order to increase or decrease the turning speed accordingly.
The signal from pendulum 25 affects the damping inherent in the device, since pendulum oscillations can arise, and it is therefore necessary to provide damping by supplying a signal proportional to the rudder displacement and opposite to the signal generated by pendulum oscillations. This is caused by the rotor vibration of the receiver 29, which is now switched on in the circuit, its rotor being held in the circuit by the member 32.
When the aircraft has turned into the new course, the cardan ring 13 has returned to its original position by means of the motor 16 controllable by the pilot, and the relays 30 and 31 are de-energized. The lateral inclination is thus canceled and further rotation is stopped. The course is now indicated by the signal from the receiver 27, which is equal to zero when the aircraft has assumed the new course, since the rotor has followed the directional gyro during the turn.
The position of the aircraft with regard to the longitudinal inclination can be changed by rotating the base plate 11 by means of the motor 15 controllable by the pilot. As can be seen from the description already supplied, the aircraft will turn in a longitudinal inclination in order to keep the platform in a horizontal position.
A rotational speed responsive gyro for use as gyro 1, 5 or 8 is shown schematically in FIG. According to this, the gyroscope has a rotor 34 which is arranged on an axis of rotation 35 in a cardan ring 36 which is mounted in the manner of a universal joint around an axis 37 of a fixed frame 38. The gimbal ring 36 carries a voltage divider contact 39 which is arranged so that it can slide over a fixed, curved voltage divider resistor 40 when the ring rotates about the axis 37 relative to the frame. The ring 36 is held in a central position by a spring 41, in which the contact 39 engages with the center point 42 of the resistor 40. The resistor 40 is connected to the AC power source 43.
The electrical output of the gyroscope is located between contact 39 and center point 42.
In operation, each rotation about an axis perpendicular to the frame 38 results in a precession of the gyro about the axis 37, counter to the spring force, to an extent determined by the speed of rotation about the axis vertical to the base 38. Thus, the output voltage becomes proportional to the rotation speed.
It should be noted that the above-described gyroscope responsive to rotational speed is capable of measuring the rotational speed about any of the three aircraft axes, and the three gyroscopes can easily be interchangeable with one another.
Instead of gyroscopes, other rotational speed responsive devices can also be used in the arrangement described in FIG. B. can be applied in the English patent specification No. 611005 Drehgeseh SPEEDZEIGevor devices.
A pendulum suitable for use as a pendulum 7, 10 or 25 is shown schematically in FIG. As can be seen therefrom, a pendulum 44 of conductive material is mounted so that it can swing about an axis parallel to the roller axis in the case of the pendulums 7 and 25 and to the axis of longitudinal inclination in the case of the pendulum 10. The pendulum 44 slides over a curved resistor 45 which is connected to the AC power source 43 so that the electrical output is between the pendulum 44 and the center point 46 of the resistor 45.
The tangential voltage divider 24 is shown schematically in FIG. 4. As shown therein, an arm 47 of conductive material is mounted on the axle 14 so that it rotates with the gimbal 13 and slides over a linear resistor 48 connected to the AC power source 43. The voltage occurring between the arm 47 and the Alit center point 49 of the resistor is thus proportional to the tangent of the angle through which the gimbal ring 13 is rotated.
In the arrangement shown in FIG. 1, control is effected by means of a rotary control lever 50 and a pitch control lever 51 which can be actuated by the pilot, the lever 50 being rotated to the right or left when rolling, to the right or to the left to effect, and the lever 51 is rotated forwards or backwards at Läugsneigung to move the nose of the aircraft up or down. These two levers can be conveniently united in such a way that the shape of a small control stick arises from them; however, their mode of operation is easier to understand if they are viewed as two separate levers.
This mode of operation emerges clearly from consideration of FIG. 5. As can be seen therefrom, the lever 50 is mounted at 81 and carries a contact strip 5 'which is isolated from the lever 50 and is capable of passing through an arcuate voltage divider resistor 53. A contact strip 54, which is insulated from the lever 50, is permanently in contact engagement with the contact segment 55 and is capable of either contacting a contact segment 56 or a contact segment 57, depending on the lever in one or the other direction Middle position is moved to engage.
The motor 16 rotates the cardan ring 13 via a gear, which drives a contact arm 58 via a voltage divider resistor 59. The motor 16 is a DC motor and has a Feldwieklung 60, which is attached between the contact strips 52 and the contact arm 58 Kon.
The lever 51 is mounted at 61 and carries a contact strip 62 which slides over a bent voltage divider resistor 63. The motor 15 which rotates the base plate 11 is a direct current motor with a field voltage 64 which is permanently connected to the battery 65 which supplies the energy for the star circuit. A changeover switch 66 is provided in order to switch the automatic control on and off. This switch has a control winding 67, which is controlled by contact buttons 68 and 69 in order to energize the Sehalter or to make currentless.
The switch is shown in the switched-off position, that is, when the aircraft is controlled in the normal manner by the pilot, that is, without using the described control device. In this position, a brush of the motor 15 is connected to the pendulum 10 via contacts 70 and conductor 71. The conductor 71 is connected to a contact on the arm of the pendulum 10, which is designed so that, after being displaced from its central position in one direction or the other, it interacts with one or the other of two segments that pass through Conductors 72 and 73 are connected to the terminals of the battery 65.
The contact and segments are not shown in Figure 5; however, the manner in which they are provided is at your own discretion. The other brush of the motor 1 is permanently connected to the center point of the resistor 63. Thus, any movement of the pendulum will cause the motor to run in one or another direction. The motor runs in such a way that the base plate 11 is rotated into a position in which the pendulum is in its central position. Thus, when the pilot controls the aircraft without using the described automatic control device, the base plate will follow that of the pendulum 10.
If the automatic control is consequently put into operation, it will continue to keep the aircraft in the same pitch position, that is to say to stabilize it.
In order to put the designated automatic control device into operation, the contact button 68 is depressed. This completes the circuit for coil 67.
When the switch is activated, this circuit is completed via contacts 74 and the release button 69. The automatic control can thus be put out of operation immediately by pressing the contact button 69.
In order to facilitate operation, this contact button can be arranged at the top of the small control stick mentioned.
When the switch 66 is held in, two contacts 75 actuate the three clutches 17 and thus put the automatic control into operation. At the same time, contacts 70 are opened and contacts 76 are closed. The motor 15 is thus switched off by the pendulum 10 and switched to the center of the Wi resistance 63 and the contact strip 62 of the lever 51. Thus, when the lever 51 is in its central position (it is only shown in a shifted position to make its connection connections clearly visible), the motor armature is short-circuited and the motor is at rest.
A movement of the lever 51 in one direction or the other causes the motor to run in one direction or the other at a speed proportional to the displacement. Therefore, the aircraft can be made to change its pitch position to any desired extent while the automatic control device is switched on.
During straight flight with the automatic control device switched on, the lever 50 is in its central position and the relays 30 and 31 are de-energized. To change course, lever 50 is rotated by hand in one direction or the other. As soon as the contact strip 54 touches the segment 56 or 57, the relays 30 and 31 are actuated. It can be seen that the resistors 53 and 59 form the branches of a Wheatstone bridge, of which the field winding 60 forms a diagonal.
Displacement of the lever 50 unbalances the bridge and energizes the field so that the motor 16 is activated to restore equilibrium. As a result, the gimbal ring 13 rotated by the motor 16 is displaced by the same amount as the lever 50. This determines the bank angle as well as the azimuthal rotation speed, so that by displacing the lever 50 by the required amount the aircraft can be driven at any desired speed Vertical axis can be rotated.
The arrangement described above can be modified in order to dampen the oscillations occurring in the circuit of the rudder control by adding a damping voltage which is proportional to the other voltages that are impressed on the input of the amplifier 21 for the difference between the abrupt sum of the voltages, which are taken from the rate of turn indicator gyro 1 and the voltage divider 24.
For this purpose, the algebraic sum of the modulated 400rj voltages taken from the rate of turn indicator gyro 1 and voltage divider 24 is applied to the input of the circuit shown in FIG.
As shown in FIG. 6, two triodes V1 and V2, which can advantageously be housed in a casing or a tube, are connected together in such a way that the signal consisting of modulated 400 alternating current is transmitted via the input transformer 101 to the connected to both grids.
AC voltage of the same frequency (400 N) wd reference phase is fed to the two anodes in the same phase in common mode, namely by means of secondary windings 102 and 103 on an anode transformer, the primary winding of which is connected to a voltage source corresponding to the source 20, the output voltage of which has the same frequency like that of the source 20.
The half-wave anode currents are connected via the capacitors 104 and 105 to the opposite ends of the primary winding of an output transformer 106, the middle connection of this primary winding via a conductor 107, which carries the alternating current components of the two anode currents, with the adjustable tapping of a cathode -A balancing resistor 108 is connected, the ends of which are connected to the cathodes of the tubes Vl and V2.
The direct current components of the two anode currents are connected via conductors 109 and 110 to the opposite ends of a grid biasing network to which the grids are connected via grid bleeder resistors 111 and 112. The input circuit is isolated by capacitors 113 and 114.
The grid bleeder resistor 111 is across a resistor. R1 is connected directly to the conductor 109 and connected via a capacitor C1 to a tap 115 to a resistor 116, which connects the conductor 110 to the conductor 109 in series with a resistor 118.
In the same way, the grid discharge resistor 112 is connected to the conductor 110 via a resistor R and to a tap 11 on the resistor 118 via a capacitor C. The junction of the two resistors 116 and 118 is connected to the tap on the cathode equalizing resistor 108 via a conductor 119. This conductor carries the entire direct current component of the two anode currents and can advantageously lead through a direct current voltage source in order to compensate for the negative grid bias which is generated by the resistor 108 and the resistors 116 and 118.
A variable resistor 120 is connected between the two taps 11 and 117, specifically for setting the size of the differential bias voltage fed back to the grid.
The secondary winding of the output transformer is connected to a voltage divider 121 and a capacitor 122. This allows the overall gain factor to be set to the desired value.
The alternating current load in the anode-cathode circuits is purely ohmic, so that the voltage at the output potentiometer 121 is in phase with the anode current surges and therefore also with the voltage that is applied to the anode transformer.
The two capacitors Cl and C have the same value as the two resistors Rl and Rz.
The circuit works as follows: As long as there is no input signal at the transformer 101 and the two grids have the same bias voltage, balanced half-wave currents are fed to the output transformer 106 and the voltage at the output terminals assumes the value zero.
Furthermore, as long as the two grids have the same bias, any signal of the same phase supplied to the transformer 101 unbalances the anode currents and thereby generates a voltage across the output voltage divider which is in phase with the reference voltage.
Differential biasing on the two grids will, however, also unbalance the anode currents so that, although there is no input signal, an output signal occurs which is proportional to the amount of the biasing difference across the two grids.
Let El be the amplitude of the alternating current signal fed to the input transformer 101, E2 the. Amplitude of the output alternating current signal appearing at the tap of the voltage divider 121, Eb the differential DC voltage which is applied to the grid bleeder resistors.
Then the overall gain is set so that = E1 + D EI.
If II and I2 mean the direct current or the modulated components of the two anode currents, E2sI1I2 becomes.
To simplify the calculation, let Ri and R be assumed to be large in relation to the voltage dividers 116 and 118, so that each of them carries, so to speak, the entire demodulated current of the corresponding tubes.
It is assumed to be known that the effect of changing the resistance 120 with a simultaneous, symmetrical change in the taps 115 and 117 at n the voltage dividers 116 and 118 is equivalent.
If one now relates all direct current voltages to the potential of conductor 107, the potential applied to the lower end of R. has the value Ra I1 and the potential applied to the lower end of Ri has the value I2, where Ra is the value of each of resistors 116 and 118.
For reasons of symmetry the following is assumed:
I1 + I2 where Io = that is the algebraic
2 is the mean of II and IZ,
I1 = Io + I and I2 = IoI, so that E2 becomes # I1ùI2 = 2I, and when ET is the potential at the lower end of R2 becomes
ET = -Ra (Io + I) and if ET2 is that the potential applied to the tap 117 will
ET3 = ùRaÁ (IoùI) where, u represents the adjustable voltage ratio of taps 115 and 117.
If then EBI-the potential of the return line of the grid bleeder resistor 112 is designated

and R and C are the values of R1 and R2 and C1 and C2, respectively.
If the sign zl is then set for R. C, which includes the time factor, one obtains 1
EB1 = ET2 + (ET1ùET2) ò

In the same way, the bias voltage EB2 that is applied to the grid bleeder resistor 111 is:

on the other hand becomes the bias difference

If g means the slope of each of the two tubes and it is assumed that resistor 108 only serves to set the slopes to the same value and to eliminate undesirable changes in the slopes at the expense of a resulting lower value of g, then the following applies Approach:
fi = const + - (+ i)
I2 = constùg / 2 (Eb + aE1) where a is a constant,

Since it has been proven that E., ¯ I, receives

Since the overall gain factor can be set to any desired value,

The output voltage E2 is connected to the output terminals of the amplifier 21 instead of the voltage taken from the rate of turn gyro 1 and the voltage divider 24, as before.
