Automatic scale with automatic indication of the price of the weighed goods.
The subject of the invention is an automatic scale with automatic indication of the price of the goods weighed, a scale characterized in that it comprises a set of mirrors fixed to the needles of the scale and intended to receive a light beam directed according to the axis of oscillation of the needles, these mirrors transmitting this light beam in such a way that this beam accompanies the needles in their movement and finally comes to project on a dial of the balance an image of figures carried by a determined scale, said figures being Choose from this scale according to the needle deviation.
In a particular embodiment of this automatic balance, the light beam directed along the axis of oscillation of these needles is produced by a luminense source and an optical capacitor centered on the axis of oscillation of the needles.
In this embodiment of the automatic balance, a slide plate, bearing a scale, is interposed on the path of the light beam and explored by the latter during its movement, which makes it possible to project a price of the positive dia plate. - scale which is a function of the deviation of the needles.
In this embodiment of the automatic balance, a projection objective is attached to one of the needles and interposed in the path of the light beam after it has passed through the slide-scale plate, which makes it possible to project an image suitable numbers worn by this scale plate.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the automatic balance forming the subject of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a schematic section through the axis of oscillation of the needles, intended to show the path of the light beam.
Fig. 2 is a rear elevational view of the schematic device of FIG. 1.
Fig. 3 is a front elevational view of the schematic device of FIG. 1.
Fig. 4 is an axial sectional view of an automatic balance according to the invention.
Fig. 5 is a partial section of the balance through λ-λ of FIG. 4.
Fig. 6 is a partial elevational view, showing the exterior presentation.
We see in fig. 1, 2 and 3 that the optical axis of a capacitor 1 concentrating the rays of a light source 2 coincides with the axis of oscillation x - x 'of the knives 3 and 3' of a shaft 4 housed in a molten part 5 on which are fixed eagles 6 and 6 'of a balance according to the invention.
The needle 6 (rear needle) is pierced with a light 7 on part of its lon them. A plane mirror S is fixed on the needle 6 at its lower part and inclined on the axis xx 'at an angle such that it reflects the light beam through the aperture, ure 7 of the needle 6 on a mirror 9 also fixed on this needle.
The mirror 9 is inclined such that the axis of the beam is returned horizontally through a slide plate 10 whose plane is perpendicular to the axis z-a '.
In fig. 1, the path of the optical axis of the beam coming from the light source 2, passing through the capacitor 1 and reflected on the mirrors, is shown in phantom lines.
On leaving the slide plate 10, the beam is reflected by a mirror 11, mounted on the needle 6 'and returned parallel to the needle 6' which it accompanies in its angular movements.
A projection objective 12 fixed on the needle 6 'above the mirror 11 collects said beam and returns it to a mirror 13 fixed to the upper part of the needle 6'. This mirror is inclined so as to direct the beam onto a fixed reflecting lens 14 (of the same size as the weight indicator dials of the balance), the plane of which is perpendicular to the axis x-x '.
The crystal 14 (which may be a two-way silver crystal) itself returns the beam to a frosted glass 15 (of the same size as the weight indicator dials of the balance) whose plane is parallel to the plane of the crystal 14 .
The arrangement and adjustment of the whole device is such that the objective 12 forms on the ground glass 15 a sharp image, considerably enlarged, of a small area of the slide plate 10 through which the light beam passes.
It is understood that the oscillation of the needles 6 and 6 'around the axis xx' (oscillation caused by the weight of a commodity placed on the plate) will cause the exploration by the light beam of surfaces of the slide plate arranged according to an arc of a circle centered on za 'and the final stabilization of the projection when the needle stops.
The explored arc of circle 16 is graduated (by photoengraving or by direct printing) according to divisions and regularly increasing prices going from zero for the zero oscillation angle corresponding to zero weight, up to the unit price of the goods at kilo for the maximum angle of oscillation corresponding to the weighing of a commodity weighing one kilo.
It can be seen that under these conditions and for an are of circle 16 of the slide plate, the angular displacements of the needles corresponding to weighings will bring the projection onto the frosted glass 15 and always centered on the needle 6 ', of fractions or successive segments of the arc 16 which will pass at the same time as the needle, until the stabilization of both the projected segment and the needle at a determined price corresponding to the price of the goods weighed.
The price to be paid is determined by the extension 17 of the needle 6 'intersecting the projection in its middle.
All the above assumes that the graduation of the projected arc has been carried out on the basis of the unit price per kilo of the weighed marelianid.
Fig. 3 represents the projection of the price of eighteen francs twenty-five centimes starting from a basic price of inarchandise of thirty-six francs fifty per kilo (vertical needle, weight of the goods weighed = 500 grams).
We deduce from the above that we must, for different unit prices of goods, obtain at will the substitution of an are graduated by another arc graduated differently each time we change goods.
The ares, graduated according to different unit prices, will be placed one above the other on the slide scale plate. The substitution of one are for another will be done by vertical sliding of the slide plate between slides.
The general arrangement of the balance having such a control mechanism for the substitution of the graduated ares applied to the optical system described above is shown in FIGS. 4 and 5.
Two unit price control boxes 18 and 18 'are fixed, outside the scale, on a shaft 19 carrying a central drum 20. A disc 21, integral with the angular displacements of the shaft 19 and of the drum 20, comprises holes 22 arranged in a circle having its center on the axis of shaft 19 and angularly equidistant from each other. Each hole can be brought by rotation controlled by buttons 18 and 18 'in front of a spring plunger 23 causing the device to stop resiliently.
A stamped disc 24, integral with the disc 21, carries, printed on its frustoconical front surface, the unit prices per kilo of the goods to be weighed. The spread of the unit price entries is angularly equal to the spread of the holes. The unit prices appear suecessivement through a window 25 (FIG. 6) provided in a stamped cover 26 protecting the mechanism.
The shaft 19 carries at the rear a drum 24 'bearing prices printed on its outer perimeter. These prices appear through window 32 as the shaft rotates.
The set is set so that the same prices appear on the front and back through lights 25 and 32.
Two thin steel ribbons 27 and 27 ', fixed respectively by one of their ends on the periphery of the drum 20, establish the connection of the mechanism with the slide plate 10 in such a way that for each change of unit take, a displacement occurs. corresponding slide plate in the vertical direction and a graduated arc change.
This result is obtained as follows: The second end of the tape 27 'is fixed at 28 on the lower part of a frame carrying the slide plate 10. The second end of the tape 27 is fixed at 29 at the upper part of the frame.
The ribbon 27 ect returned upwards and guided in its path by rollers 30.
The slide plate 10 carries the successive graduated arcs 16 ,. 16 ', 16 ", 16"', etc., corresponding to graduations. according to increasing unit prices, equidistant from others.
The diameter of the tape-holder drum 20 is determined very exactly so that at a rotation of the shaft 19 corresponding to the change from one unit price to another unit price (passage from one hole to another of the disc 22 ) corresponds to a vertical displacement of the slide plate 10 equal to the spacing of two successive ares.
We see, under these conditions, that the operation of the balance will operate as follows:
The operator turns one of the outer knobs 18 or 18 'until the unit price appearing at windows 25 and 32 matches the unit price of the commodity. to weigh. The pusher 23 stabilizes the device in this position.
The operation of the button 18 or 18 'has the effect of sliding the slide plate 10 in its guides, by means of the tapes 27 and 27' which wind up and unwind in the opposite direction on the drum 20.
This displacement of the slide plate allows the installation on the path of the light beam of the arc having the graduation corresponding to the unit price appearing in windows 25 and 32.
The oscillation of the needles 6 and 6 ', balanced by a counterweight 31, and their stabilization in their equilibrium position under the ae- tion of the weight of the goods weighed, causes on the ground glass 15 the projection of the price of the weighing determined very exactly by the cutoff point of the needle 17 with the projection of the axis 16. I1 was indicated that the crystal 14 could be two-way silver.
This arrangement was designed to allow an operator placed behind the scale (side of the needle 6) to read the price projected by the lens 12 through this lens.
Reading is done upside down without difficulty.
Strictly speaking, an optical system known and not shown could operate the straightening of the projection for its reading upright from the rear.
Various accessory devices known in themselves are provided, allows. both the instantaneous replacement of the projection lamp contained and delivered in a cylindrical tube perfectly marked and adjusted in relation to the housing of the optical capacitor; the establishment of the supply contacts of the lamp by simple installation of the tube; automatic lighting of the lamp at the start of a weighing operation by the oscillation of the needles.
These accessory devices being of known types, this eliminates the need to describe them in more detail.
