Device for supplying liquid fuel and for controlling the fuel supply to a drive machine. The present invention relates to a Einriehtiuig for supplying and for controlling the supply of liquid fuel to the combustion chamber of a jet engine, a turbine or another drive machine.
The device according to the invention has a pump whose delivery pressure corresponds to the square. their speed is proportional, furthermore at least one between the pump and an outlet arranged throttle element, means for adjusting the throttle element as a function of barometric Druekschivankimgen, means for adjusting the throttle element as a function of a liquid pressure dif- feren7 and manually operable means for Adjustment of the said fluid pressure difference.
The subject matter of the invention is to be explained, for example, more closely using the accompanying drawings; It shows: Fig. 1 schematically a vertical section through a device according to the invention, for supplying and metering liquid fuel to the combustion chamber of a jet engine, a turbine or another drive machine,
FIG. 2 is a schematic vertical section through a modified embodiment of said device and FIG. 3 is a schematic vertical section through a third embodiment. In the embodiment. 1, a housing 1 contains a centrifugal pump for radial flow with the rotor 2, which sits on the shaft 3. The pump delivery pressure is proportional to the square. the number of revolutions of the rotor.
A feed channel .1 for the liquid fuel in the housing leads to the axis of the rotor and a further channel 5, which is also connected to the axis of the pump, serves to return excess fuel and enclosed air to the fuel tank. One the. Rotor 2 surrounding chamber is through the line 7 with the. Outlet 8 connected, which can be verbun by a pipe to the burner in the combustion chamber.
In this line 7, a throttle valve is arranged to control the amount of fuel flowing through the outlet.
The throttle valve has a conical valve body 9 which interacts with an annular valve seat 10. The Ventilkör by 9 is connected through the guide rod 11 to a piston 12 which slides in a cylindrical chamber 13. The three ele ments 9, 11 and 1.2 can be formed in one piece or consist of interconnected individual elements. One end of the chamber 13 is connected through the line 11 to the pump side of the throttle valve in Ver.
The other end of this chamber is through another line 15 with the seat 16 of a spring-loaded, pivotably be fixed valve 17 in connection, which speaks to barometric and liquid pressure, also via a narrowed passage 18 in the piston 12 with the first-mentioned chamber part. The valve 17 is carried by a pivot lever 19 which is loaded by the spring 20.
The valve 17 is housed in a chamber 21 of the housing, which is connected through the device 22 with the supply line to the pump. There are two coaxial capsules 23 and 24 in the chamber. The interior of one capsule 23 is evacuated, while the other capsule 24 is in communication with the atmosphere via line 25.
Between the capsules eats the outer end of the long arm 26 of an angle lever angeord net, which is loaded on opposite sides by the coaxial springs 27 and 28. One end of the spring 27 is supported by the adjustable pin 29 in the housing, while the other end of the spring 28 is supported by a pin 30 which in turn rests on the piston 12.
The short arm 31 of the lever acts on one end of the lever 19 for the purpose of actuating the valve 17. At the other end of the lever 19, the chamber containing the valve is separated from another chamber 32 by an elastic membrane 33. The diaphragm is loaded by the adjustable spring 34 and carries a bolt 35 which acts on the valve lever 19.
This second chamber 32 is in communication with the pump side of the throttle valve 9 through the line 36 which is narrowed at 37. A shunt line 38 is seen between this constriction and the chamber, which opens into the valve chamber and the inlet opening of which can be changed by a manually operated adjustment device.
whereby a fluid pressure difference can be generated on both sides of the membrane 33. This device has, for example, a spring-loaded valve body 39 which is actuated by the cam 40, which in turn is operated by the operating personnel. The valve body has a conical end 41 through which the effective inlet opening of the line 38 can be changed.
Instead of the single valve 17 described above, which is controlled by a device that responds to barometric pressure and a device that responds to fluid pressure difference, it is also possible to use two separate valves that are controlled independently of one another by one of the two devices becomes.
In operation, the device described above works as follows: The pump, which is driven by some power source, feeds liquid fuel to the outlet 8 via the throttle valve. The valve 17 is normally closed.
The specific pressure is. then the same on both sides of the piston 12, the greater force acting on the Kol benoberseite pushes the Kol ben 12 into its lower end position, and the throttle valve body 9 is consequently secured against displacement. Wine is the barometric pressure, e.g.
B. decreases as a result of increase in height, which makes a Drossehing @ the amount of fuel supplied by the pump requires Lich, allows the pressure decrease in the capsule 24, the lever 26, the valve 17 under the pressure of the spring 27 to open. The fluid pressure acting on the piston 12 can displace the piston in a direction that increases the throttling until the fluid supply is set correctly,
that is, until the decrease in atmospheric pressure by the spring 28 under the action of the piston 12 is compensated for. An increase in atmospheric pressure makes it necessary to increase the fuel supply to the pump. Assume that the individual parts of the installation line are in the position according to FIG. 1, but valve 17 is finitely open.
As a result of the expansion of the capsule 24, the lever 216 is pivoted so that the valve 17 closes slightly through the action of the spring 20, and the piston 1 ″ moves in a direction that reduces the throttling until the decrease in the atmospheric diameter is compensated for by the spring 28 under the action of the piston 12.
An automatic limitation of the maximum amount of fuel that can be supplied by the pump, in order to maintain a predetermined speed of the drive machine, is caused by the pressure difference that acts on the membrane 33, which is connected to the valve 17 in action. An increase in the speed beyond a preselected limit causes an increase in the pressure difference which acts on the membrane, whereby the valve 17 is opened and the throttle body 9 is displaced so that the amount of fuel supplied is reduced.
The size of the pressure difference acting on the membrane is determined by the setting device 39, which can be set by the operating personnel so that the fuel supply to the burner can consequently be set according to the changing requirements of the operation.
Each setting of the device 39 corresponds to a specific pressure difference acting on the diaphragm 33 and thus determines the maximum speed of the pump 2. If the speed of the pump rises above this limit, it has the effect. the said pressure difference causes the valve 17 to open, the piston 12 being displaced in such a way that the amount of fuel delivered by the pump is reduced. As a result, the speed of the machine drops and thus also the speed of the pump 2 it drives.
When the line 38 is closed by means of the setting device 39, the membrane 33 opens the valve 17 at a lower maximum speed of the pump than when this line is open. Accordingly, each setting position of the device 39 corresponds to one of the pump 2 achievable maximum speed.
If it is desired that the amount of fuel supplied by the pump, for a given setting determined by the barometric device, practically constant. remains, you can use the modified embodiment shown in FIG. The arrangement is generally the same as in Fig.l and the same reference numerals are used for the same parts .. Between the derivative 7 of the pump rotor 2 and the throttle 9 in the output line 8, is a second throttle in the form of a relieved valve Ven , which controls the flow between these at the points, proceed.
The shaft 43 carries the two valve cones 42 and is connected to a diaphragm 44 loaded by the spring 45. One side of the membrane is under the diaeck on the inlet side of the throttle 9 and the other via the line 46 - under the pressure on the outlet side of this throttle. A manually adjustable cam 47 acts on the loading spring 45. By means of the second throttle 42, the amount of fuel delivered by the pump 2 can be kept approximately constant, and this amount of fuel can be adjusted by the adjustable Kok ken 47 by hand.
It can be seen that the device 39 of FIG. 1 has been omitted and that the chamber 32 of the mem brane 33 is in direct communication with the cylinder 13 through the line 48. This cylinder is through line 49 also with the delivery line 7 of the centrifugal pump in connection.
In this embodiment, the device for limiting the speed of the prime mover, which contains the diaphragm 33, which responds to fluid pressure differences, can also be omitted, except, if one also wishes to limit the maximum speed of the prime mover, in which case it, as in Fig 2 shown at is retained.
When this device is in operation, the pump rotor 2 supplies liquid fuel to the outlet 8, the fuel flowing through the one at the throttles, consisting of the relieved valve 42 and the throttle element 9. The valve 17 is normally closed ge and the throttle member 9 'is as in the example shown in FIG. 1 ge secures against displacement. Nominal the barometric pressure z. For example, if the fuel supply has to be edited, the pressure change in the capsule 24 causes the pressure of the spring 27 on the valve lever 26 to open the valve 17.
The liquid pressure on the piston 12 can now move the piston 12 upwards, so that the fuel flow through the throttle 9 is reduced until the fuel supply is adjusted again.
If, as a result of fluctuations in the speed of the pump rotor 2, the amount of fuel supplied should vary at a given setting of the throttle 9, the resulting pressure difference acts on the membrane 44 and leads to a Adjustment of the relieved valve 42 so that the flow remains constant.
As already said, if the membrane 33 is retained in the device described, an increase in the speed beyond a selected limit is prevented by the valve 17 opening when this limit is exceeded.
According to a further embodiment of the invention shown in FIG. 3, the general arrangement is similar to that in FIG. 1 and the same reference numerals are used for the same parts. Here, however, the pressure difference acting on the diaphragm, which controls the speed, is obtained by tapping the centrifugal pump at various radial points.
The chamber 32 on one side of the membrane 33 is through the line 50 with a chamber 51 in connection, which connect with the line 52 in a sliding wall 53, which is part of the chamber surrounding the pump rotor 2. The line 52 is connected to the opening 54 in the wall and the latter can be easily displaced by the manually operated pinion 55 which engages in the rack 56 in the wall 53.
Thus, by radial displacement of the wall 53, the pressure supplied to the chamber 32 on one side of the membrane 33 can be changed, while the pressure on the other side of this 1Teinbran corresponds to the pressure transmitted through the line 22. The mode of operation of this embodiment is the same as that described in FIG. 1, with the exception of the supplying of the alternating pressure to the diaphragm 33.
