Fig. 1 zeigt einen Axialschnitt durch den Messerkopf.
Process for circular milling of profiled rotational bodies, in particular railway wheel rims, and circular milling machine for carrying out this process. Profiled bodies of revolution, such. B. Ei senbahnradkränze or rolling mill rollers, who nowadays made on lathes, which work with relatively small Schnittgeschwin speeds and large cutting forces and which are therefore relatively large machines with large required work. The present invention relates to a method and a machine for circular milling of such rotational bodies.
The method according to the invention is characterized in that at least one rotating cutter head is used, to which at least one set with a plurality of turning steel-shaped hard metal knives, which together at least partially result in the profile to be milled, is attached and which is attached directly via a Its circumference arranged power transmission element is driven by an associated power transmission element mounted on a motor shaft, the cutter head acting as a flywheel to eliminate vibrations that are impermissible for the hard metal knives and caused by elastic deformations between the drive and the tool.
The inventive circular milling machine for performing this method is characterized by at least one cutter head designed as a flywheel, wel cher is guided on each of its two end faces in a bearing and has a power transmission element on its circumference, which is connected to an associated power transmission element mounted on a motor shaft drive connection, the cutter head is provided with at least one set with a plurality of turning steel-shaped hard metal knives, which together at least partially form the profile to be milled, the whole thing in such a way that no elastic deformations between the drive which cause impermissible vibrations for the hard metal knives during operation and tools can occur.
The accompanying drawing relates to an exemplary embodiment of the rotary milling machine according to the invention, on the basis of which the method according to the invention is also explained, for example, in the following.
The example is a machine set up for circular milling of a railroad wheel rim.
Fig. 1 shows an axial section through the cutter head.
FIG. 2 shows part of a cross section through the cutter head, FIG. 3 shows a detailed plan of FIG. Fig. 4 to 10 show the individual knives of a set in a partial side view and in front view.
Fig. 7.1 shows schematically the drive of the workpiece for the rotary feed, and in Fig.l2 and 13 details of this drive are shown schematically. The cutter head a, which is designed as a flywheel, is guided on its two Stirnsei th in a tapered roller bearing b. By using such bearings, the arrangement of one or two axial bearings is circumvented, the cutter head being able to be supported despite this without tangible axial play. But there could also be other camps such. B.
Ball bearings or plain bearings can be used, in which case additional axial bearings may have to be provided. The cutter head has on its circumference for the drive-power transmission a pressed worm gear rim c secured by screws. This is in engagement with the worm d, which is coupled to the shaft e of an electric motor, not shown. The cutter head is equipped with two sets of thirteen rotary steel-shaped carbide cutters each.
The blades of each set are distributed over the rim profile to be produced in such a way that they mill the entire profile and consequently no feed is necessary in the axial direction of the wheel. The cutter head could also be designed for the use of two additional cutters since the mentioned cutter sets Lich for processing the side surfaces of the wheel rim adjoining the profile.
It would also be possible to provide at least one set of two hard metal steels for machining these side surfaces in a second similar cutter head arranged on the opposite side of the wheel. Furthermore, the arrangement can be made such that instead of just one cutter head a, several cutter heads mounted and driven in the manner described above are provided, which are, for example, evenly distributed over the circumference of the wheel rim.
Each of these cutter heads can have one or more sets of either just part of the profile to be milled or the entire profile resulting knives. For example, two cutter heads diametrically opposite with respect to the wheel to be milled can be seen, of which one cutter head has cutters 1 to 8, which mill the running surface of the wheel rim, and the other cutter head has cutters 9 to 13, which mill the flange.
Since the part of the cutter head a that carries the knives itself performs the function of a flywheel and forms the milling spindle and is made from one piece, and the drive acts directly on it, there can be no during operation between the drive, i.e. the worm drive and the tool Elastic deformations occur, which are unfavorable for the hard metal knife. This elimination of elastic deformations between the drive and the tool is extremely important, since otherwise the cutter head would vibrate, which can quickly lead to breakage of the hard metal knives.
Such elastic deformations can occur with all constrictions of the material in shafts which carry a milling tool at one point and are driven in some way at a distant point. These deformation possibilities ge equip the shaft to perform torsional vibrations caused by the impact of the individual cutting edges of the cutter of the milling tool. The blows that occur on the tool usually lead to the breakage of hard metal knives.
By uniting the part of the cutter head carrying the cutter with the milling spindle and training it as one piece. reached a maximum of rigidity.
The arrangement of the steels on the circumference of the cutter head is, which the drawing does not show, in such a way that only one steel is ever in contact with the workpiece during milling. If, for example, two steels were temporarily in contact, the following disadvantage would arise: Each occurrence of a steel on the workpiece as well as each emergence of a steel from the workpiece has the same effect as a blow on the cutter head, which intervened on another the hard metal knife located on the workpiece and can cause premature destruction of the cutting edge (crumbling). The durability of the knives would be impaired.
Another measure that has been taken to counteract premature destruction of the cutting edges can be seen from FIGS. 11 to 13. The wheel rim Ih to be machined is attached to a faceplate, not shown, which is set in rotation for the movement of the workpiece. Is on the faceplate. directly attached to this a worm wheel r, in which two each other diametrically opposed Schneeken s and t engage, which in not. drawn ter way each driven for itself.
In Fig. 11, the work piece w, which is processed by the equipped with the knives cutter head a, it is visible. The directions of rotation are indicated by arrows, for example. The two worms s and t act in the following way: The worm s is, for example, the drive worm, which moves the worm wheel r and therewith the workpiece in the specified direction of rotation.
If there were no other worm, the worm wheel r and thus the workpiece could spring forward after a steel has emerged from your workpiece and the play between the worm s and your worm gear r. The subsequent engagement of the next steel in the workpiece would immediately cause the worm wheel r and the worm s to mesh in the manner shown in FIG. 13. This could result in vibrations in the workpiece that are harmful to the hard-metal smokers are.
In order to prevent such phenomena, the second worm t is provided which is continuously engaged with the worm wheel in the manner shown in FIG. As can be seen from the drawing, it prevents the workpiece from springing forward by the play between the worm s and the worm wheel r after a steel has come out of engagement with your workpiece.
The worm t thus acts as a stop for the worm wheel in order to avoid vibration of the worm wheel and thus of the workpiece, which moves in the drive direction of the worm wheel and thus prevents the workpiece from advancing compared to the drive speed of the worm s Positive engagement with the worm wheel according to FIG. 13 drives the same forward in the direction of the arrow. The worm t is driven at the number of revolutions required for the workpiece. So that at the same time the drive worm s always remains in engagement with the worm wheel r according to FIG. 13, it must be driven somewhat faster than that of the worm t.
However, since the speed of the worm s is given by the speed of the worm wheel r, it must be connected to its drive via a slip-permitting intermediate member such that it can rotate more slowly than its drive. The intermediate member that allows slip can be a slip clutch or a hydraulic transmission. Such devices can, however, also be bypassed in that the necessary slip is produced by electrodynamic processes, in which case both screws can be rigidly coupled to the associated electric motors.
It is. It can be seen that with the drive mechanism according to FIGS. 11 to 13 the worm wheel executing the rotary feed movement is clamped between the two snow bars, which prevents vibrations of the workpiece as a result of the steel getting in and out of grip . will.
The same effect can also be achieved if a spur gear drive with pinions occurs in place of the worm drive described. A similar effect can be achieved in a simplified form by arranging a friction brake in place of the stop snow or -ritze], which causes a permanent positive engagement of the driving force transmission element with the one connected to the faceplate.
Using the rotary milling machine shown, the following data are used, for example, when milling a railroad wheel rim:
EMI0004.0000
A power of around 4 hp is sufficient for the rotary feed movement of the iron wheel. This movement takes place mechanically "completely independently of the rotation of the cutter head.
No artificial cooling of the steel is necessary, and absolutely bright running surfaces are achieved. In principle, the wheel rim profile is milled after one revolution.
By way of comparison, it can be mentioned that with today's state of the art on modern wheel rim lathes, a power of up to about 100 ps is necessary and the turning time for a wheel of 800 mm 0 is about 6 to 7 minutes. However, the main advantage of the construction described is that relatively high cutting speeds, such as those specified, can be used. Such values have not been common in the manufacture of wheel rims to this day. Through the use of high cutting speeds and thus high rotational speeds, the torques drop to a fraction of the values that have hitherto been common with wheel rim lathes.
From -Fig. 1 and 2 it can be seen how the individual steels of a set are distributed over the profile width of the railroad wheel rim and how the steels of both sets are distributed over the circumference of the cutter head. The steels in each set are numbered from 1 to 13. The setting of each steel to the length corresponding to the work piece profile is done by a cap screw f, which is screwed into a Boh tion in the cutting edge opposite the end of the steel and set in a teaching, not shown, to the length of the steel be taken and by a lock nut g is secured. This setting can be made in the tool shop, for example.
The steel is then pushed into the radial opening specially provided for it in the part of the cutter head that carries the knives, without any further adjustment. The steels used 1 to 12 stand with the head of their screw f against a sleeve i located in an axial bore h in the part of the cutter head carrying the Mes ser, the steel 13 finds its stop in the part carrying the cutter itself. The steel is then clamped by a wedge k in its radial opening. The wedge k is secured against sliding out by a screw l engaging in the cutter head. As can be seen in FIG. 1, the sleeve i is fastened in the bore h by an adjusting screw m.
This arrangement ensures that the regrinding and the subsequent length adjustment is carried out on the individual knife outside the knife head and not on the entire knife head. The advantage is that only defective knives need to be removed and not the whole: knife head, and that only simple grinding devices such as for regrinding turning steels are required.
The two tapered roller bearings b are supported on a support n which, together with a cover v, forms an oil-tight housing for the worm drive c-d. For a position of the axial bearing play of the knife head a ver provided with an external thread ring p is provided, which is screwed into a corresponding nut thread in the worm gear housing. The ring has holes for inserting keys. Both camps are closed off from the outside by cover c1.
The worm gear is best lubricated in such a way that oil is sprayed onto the worm from above. The oil collects in the support below and can be sucked off from there. The circular milling machine shown and described in the drawing is useful for the particular purpose, that is, dimensioned for milling railway wheel rims. Because it is not a universal tool, it is also possible to make the best possible arrangement for the special case.
