Schaltgestänge an Motorfahrzeugen.

Shift linkage on motor vehicles. The invention relates to: a shift linkage on motor vehicles, which is provided with an operating element on the steering column for pivoting and moving a shift element for the various gears.
According to the invention, the switching organ consists of a tube arranged coaxially to the steering column outside this tube, which has a bearing block to which a switching lever is articulated, the inner end of which engages in a sleeve arranged on the steering column.
The advantage of the switching tube, which is coaxial with the steering column, over a free-standing switching element is that it looks more decorative and can be cleaned more easily and takes up less space than the free-standing element, and it also stiffens the steering column and gives it one. can offer greater protection.
In the accompanying drawing, exemplary embodiments of the subject matter of the invention are shown.

FIG. 6 is a cross section taken along line 6-6 in FIG. 4.
Fig. 7 is a vertical Längcschni-h on a larger scale through the steering column in the vicinity of its attachment to the instrument board in another embodiment of the storage of the switching tube on the steering column.
Fig. 8 is a vertical longitudinal section through the lower end of the steering column with another embodiment of the connection device.
In Fig. 3, 10 denotes an Automobilrah men, of which parts are weggebro chen to show the internal structure. The frame 10 carries the engine 11, on which the clutch 1'2 and the gear 1: 3 are attached, as well as the body, from which:
The instrument panel 14, the protective hood 15, the splashboard 16, the footboard 17 and the floor 18 are shown. The steering gear 19 is also rigidly attached to the frame 10 and carries the steering column 21, on wel cher the steering wheel \ 22 is rotatably attached.
The steering column 21 is fastened to the instrument panel 14 by means of the holder 23 and on it the switching tube 24 is arranged coaxially to the column, which is moved by means of the switching lever 25, and can be pivoted to a limited extent and pushed back and forth.
The tube 24 ends at its lower end in a connection device 26, which has two actuating levers 27 and 28, which are connected by linkage 29 and 30 with the switching levers. 32 and 33 of the transmission 13 are connected.
According to FIGS. 1 and 2, at the end of the steering column 2'1, a sleeve 3 is fastened which, with a head 34, consists of one piece, which is preferably designed as an injection-molded piece, with In the sleeve 31 there is a partial annular slot 35 and in the head 34 an annular channel 36 concentric to the switching tube axis. is
which receives the upper end of the Schailtrohres in all of its switching positions. The steering shaft 37, which leads to the steering gear 19, runs in the bearing 38 at the upper end of the column 21, above which it is attached to the hub 39 of the steering handwheel 22.
In the present construction, the head 34 and the hub 39 contain together for the direction indicator a switch with a lever 41,. The pivotally attached to the pin 42 be and optionally a contact 43 is operated. The steering shaft 37 is hollow and the horn actuating cable 44 runs through it, which ends in the head 45 and has a contact part 46 which is cushioned by the spring 48 in the housing 47.
The horn button 49 is arranged in the hub 39 so that it can move and reciprocate, where it is held in place by lugs 51 which grip behind a plate-shaped member 52 and is normally pressed outward by the spring 53.
The switching tube 24 has a bearing block 54 at the upper end, in which the switching lever 25 is rotatably mounted on a pin 55, with the inner lever end 56 engaging in the annular slot 35.
The side walls 57 of the bearing block 54 run -we least .stelleweise parallel and lead the lugs 58 on the shift lever 25 between the axis 55 and .dem inner end 56 during the rotary movement of the lever around the pin. An elastic sleeve 59 sits at the pin 55 on the, shift lever 25, which presses against the shoulder 61 and the walls 57,
so that it seals the inside of the pipe and cushions the movement of the lever. A compression spring 62 is arranged between the lower edge of the sleeve 31 and an annular carrier 63 which is fastened to the switching tube 24 so that the spring normally presses the tube downwards.
The fabric ring 64, which is pressed into the upper end of the tube 24, touches the outer side of the sleeve 31, but allows the tube to rotate freely and to move back and forth with respect to the sleeve. An inner reinforcing tube 65 is pressed into the upper end of the steering column 21, which has an indentation 66 in order to accommodate the cable 67 which is connected to the direction indicator contact 43.
As FIGS. 4 and 6 show, the switching tube 24 in the holder 23 is provided with a slot 68 which extends on both sides by approximately 3'0 and is long enough to also allow longitudinal displacements of the tube. The holder 23 has two distanced lugs 69 which rest on the flange 71 of the instrument panel 14, where they are fastened by means of head screws 72 extending through a reinforcing plate 73.
The holder 23 has a central longitudinal slot 74 and a curved semi-cylindrical flange 75 which extends sufficiently far along the column to cover the slot 68 in .allen Schaltsitollungen of the tube 24 to cover. A head screw 76 extends through the .Schlitz 74 - and an opening in the steering column 21, where it is screwed into a reinforcing sleeve 77 of the steering column 21.
The slot 74 allows the necessary longitudinal adjustment of the steering gear 19 relative to the instrument panel before the screw 76 is tightened. In contrast, when the screw 7, 6 is tightened, the steering column 21 is rigidly attached to the holder and thus to the instrument panel 14. At the same time, the Ruhr 24, as far as the slot 6.8 allows, is on the steering column.
2Y. freely rotatable and slidable back and forth, the flange 75 effectively closing this slot a <B> '</B> b. A fabric ring 70 is arranged between the Rdhr 24 and the column 21 near the slot 6'8,
the meaning of which will be explained later with reference to FIG. An opening 60! in holder 23 allows the cable. 67 the passage from the Einbuch device 66 in the pipe 65 to the space behind the splashboard, so that this connection is also completely enclosed.
According to FIGS. 4 and 5, the switching tube 24 -at the lower end has an end part 78 of larger diameter in which the two coupling pins 79 arranged opposite one another are inserted.
Two coaxial sleeves 81 and 8.2 are rotatably mounted within the end part 78 on the steering column 21, where they are prevented by the two ring channels 83 in the steering column 21 from a longitudinal displacement d'a @ dureh that the lower end of the inside Sleeve 81 is seated in the lower cap and a snap ring 84 in the upper channel secures the upper ends of the two sleeves 81 and 82 by means of a spring washer 85.
The actuation levers 2 <B> 7 </B> and 28 are on the sleeves 8? and 81 attached. The inner sleeve 81 has T-slots 86, which are arranged opposite the T-legs 87 in the outer sleeve 82, with the coupling pins 79 passing through these slots.
When .the switching tube 24 is in the lowest position, the coupling pin 79 rotates the inner sleeve 81, but not the outer sleeve 82, because the pin 79 then move in the head of the slots 8,7 of the outer sleeve. In the same way, the coupling pins 79 move in the head when the tube 24 is in the uppermost position,
The T-slots 86 of the inner sleeve 81 and a rotation of the tube 24 only causes a rotation of the outer sleeve 82. A locking device, which prevents simultaneous actuation of both sleeves 81 and 82, is, as usual, in the transmission of the vehicle arranged on.
In the variant of the connection device according to FIG. 8, the coaxial switching tube designated 12'4 again encases the steering column 1, 21 and the steering shaft 137.
The tube 124 is in the lower part. 190 expanded to accommodate the reinforcing sleeve 19.1 to which the bolts 1f; 2: are welded, the shafts 179 of which serve as the coupling pins mentioned above.
The lowermost end of the flared portion 1190 is crimped at 193 and a felt seal 194 is inserted to hold the lubricant in place in the housing so formed. As before, two coaxial coupling sleeves 181 and 182 are rotatably mounted on the steering column 121 and held firmly at one end by the sonappring 184 in the channel 183 and the spring ring 18.5.
A flanged ring 195 is attached to each sleeve, only the one for the outer sleeve 18 2 being shown in full and the cylindrical part of the ring 195 for the inner sleeve 181 only partially shown.
Actuating levers such as those shown in FIG. 5 are fastened to these flange rings 19, 5 in order to transmit the rotary movement of the selected sleeve 181 or 182 to the corresponding shift lever of the transmission.
As before, the sleeves are provided with T-slots 186 in the inner sleeve 181 and T-slots 187 in the outer sleeve 1.82, which allows an optional coupling with one or the other of the two sleeves, depending on. the position of the tube 12.4.
In the variant according to FIG. 7, the Hal ter 12.3 is fastened as before by means of a K <B> o </B> pf screw 17.6, which engages in the reinforcement sleeve 177 inside the steering column 121. The head screw is mounted in the longitudinal slot 174 of the holder in order to permit adjustment in the longitudinal direction. The holder 123 has a flange 175 which closes the 'seat 168 in the tube 124 from.
The fabric ring 1.70 consists of fabric in a metal housing 196 which is pressed into the vertical tube 124 just below the slot 168 through which it is inserted. This bearing ring rests on a sleeve 197 with a raised central part 198 and a number of tabs. 199 at each end. This sleeve is slipped over the steering column 121 and brought into approximately the correct position.
The tabs 1 \ 99 'who then bent inward to engage in the holes 200, which are arranged in the steering column, so that the sleeve 197 is secured in the longitudinal direction, the bearing ring 170 from its entire area at Back and forth movement on the sleeve 197 remains. The use of a separate bearing sleeve allows a lot. Easier mounting of the linkage, as the switching tube only comes into contact with the steering column when it is pushed on at the bearing points.
Due to the triple support at the top, in the middle and at the bottom, the steering column is stiffened at the same time by the ScIialt tube. This is because it has shown that the leakage column bends as a result of the driver often lying on the steering wheel, even though it is attached to the instrument panel. The instrument panel itself is not capable of sufficient resistance to prevent such bending.
The switching tube, which has an even larger diameter than the steering column, stiffens it strongly, despite the fact that the switching tube is mounted so that it can be moved and rotated to and fro.
The advantage of the construction described is also that the switching tube has no visible gaps, so that it has the appearance of an uninterrupted tube. In addition, it is ensured that the entire boom works exactly even after prolonged use and that no noise is generated or is loose. It is also extremely cheap to manufacture.
Another advantage is that the steering column is completely enclosed by the switching tube and there is no possibility of 0.1 'leaking through. Incidentally, no lubrication is required on the tissue rings. Another advantage is the lightness. the assembly of the rods.
