Geschlossener elektrischer Schmelzofen.

Closed electric melting furnace. It is a construction of closed electrical ones. Melting furnaces are known in which the feed is introduced into the furnace through shafts arranged symmetrically around each electrode at a distance from this, whereby the furnace gases can collect between the electrode and the shafts .. The furnace gases escape: From the melt crater through a Part of the insert, which is in constant motion and which is constantly renewed and therefore remains porous.
The furnace lid is made of fire-resistant bricks and extends between the charging and power supply devices for the electrodes and the edge of the furnace. In this training the furnaces were used extensively for the production of electrical pig iron.
The subject of the present invention bil det a closed electric melting furnace, which is provided with a water-cooled, metallic lid, which furnace has further improvements. According to the invention, the furnace has charging shafts, whose boundary surfaces closest to the associated electrode are parallel to the electrode jacket surface, these shafts being arranged at a distance from the electrode and the space between the shafts and the electrode with lines for discharging the furnace gases is connected.
In the case of round electrodes, the shafts expediently form parts of hollow cylinders which surround the electrode.
The lower part of the shafts can be designed in such a way that the slope of the insert is held at various points at different heights and the surface of the insert is given the desired shape in the furnace.
The distance between the electrode and the shafts is expediently chosen not to be larger than necessary for collecting the furnace gases. This space is expediently limited towards the top by contact arrangements which transmit the electrical current to the electrode and which can be lowered into the furnace through the cover and adjusted in height. The height of the gas space between the electrode and the shafts is then determined by the height adjustment of the contact arrangement.
However, it is also conceivable to adjust the size of the C-space in such a way that an advantageously water-cooled ring which delimits the shafts from the associated electrode is adjusted higher or lower. becomes. If desired, the contact arrangement can also be arranged above an electrically insulating packing between the electrode and the shaft on the electrode to be introduced into the furnace.
Such furnaces are particularly suitable for the production of carbide, iron alloys. and the like and are then provided with a water-cooled metallic cover which is designed with due consideration for electrical and magnetic influences.
An embodiment of the subject of the invention is shown on the accompanying drawing, in which: Fig. 1 shows a vertical section along the line I-I in Fig. 2 through part of a melting furnace which has a charging device arranged around the electrode.
Fig. 2- is a plan view of Fig. 1 and Fig. 8, a vertical section along the line III-HI in Fig. 2, seen from the center of the furnace.
The electrode is denoted by 1 and 2 is a contact element which transmits the current supplied through the copper line 3 to the cylindrical electrode. The four to eight or more contact members are evenly distributed around the electrode and suspended from flat iron 4, which are usually. are connected at their upper ends to a suspension housing (not shown).
5 is a water-cooled protective house, which includes the contact elements and whose lower end is formed by the pressure ring 5. The housing 5 with the pressure ring 6 is vertically adjustable, and the pressure on the contact elements is dependent on the vertical position of the pressure ring.
There are three shafts for introducing the raw materials, with the inner walls of the shafts running parallel to the electrode jacket surface and being parts of a water-cooled cylinder 8. This.
The cylinder is attached to the lid of the oven. 9 is one of the pipes that connect the furnace silos with the shafts 7. 10 is an electrically insulating seal on the cylinder 8 between the latter and the protective housing 5 surrounding the contact elements 2 electrically insulating. Sealing between the shafts and the cover 12.
Around. Avoid the accumulation of dust between the contact elements and the protective housing, if the space is kept under slightly greater pressure than atmospheric pressure, e.g. B. by introducing furnace gases.
11 are three cutouts in the shaft ring, which form three radial gas channels and connect dc, i to the inner gas collecting space around the electrode with the outer furnace chamber and thus with gas discharge channels 18. 12 is the what is water-cooled furnace lid and 13: the outlet pipes connected to it for the gas.
Two such outlet pipes are shown, one horizontally to the side and the other from the center of the furnace upwards. 14 shows a suspension rod for the. Lid, which iso liert against the iron structure 18 above the furnace and is flexibly connected to it. Three such suspension rods are seen before and attached to a magnetically isolated piece of the central part of the furnace lid.
A section through this part is shown on the right-hand side of FIG. The cut also goes through one of the three gas openings 1f1 which penetrate the cylinder 8 between the shafts 7. Covers of these gas ducts 11 are each provided with an opening 15 through which the inside of the furnace can be inspected and additives for use can be introduced. The cover over the opening 15 is designed as a pressure relief valve.
Fig. 3 shows a vertical section along the line HI-III through one of the three gas channels 11, which lead the gases from the inner gas collecting chamber to -the outer furnace chamber. It is limited by two side walls of the shafts, by the covers with the lid over the opening 15 and by the furnace loading.
There are further @ safety and inspection openings 16 distributed over the cover.
