Device for cooling the rotor blades of a gas or hot air turbine. Various devices for cooling the blades of a gas or hot air turbine have been proposed, but none of them are entirely satisfactory. The main thing is that the hot gases flow through the blade channels at a steady speed, which means that the heat transfer from the gases into the rotor blades is very high.
If air is used for cooling, which flows through channels within the blade foot and the actual blade, the cooling effect is very small because the area that comes into contact with the cooling air is much smaller than the area that comes with the is flushed with hot gases; also the speed and thus the heat transfer coefficient of the cooling air is significantly lower than the speed and thus the heat transfer coefficient of the hot gases.
Another disadvantage is the fact that the cooling air ducts make it more difficult to manufacture the rotor blades and reduce the blade cross-section, as a result of which the blade stress increases significantly.
The use of water or another liquid to cool the blades is even less advantageous than the use of air, because the cooling effect is then too great. The walls of the cooling channels have almost the same temperature as the cooling water. The temperature of the walls, which are flushed by the hot gases, especially at the leading edge of the rotor blades, is almost the same as the temperature of the hot gases.
Temperature differences of up to several 100 ° C arise in the rotor blade and thus very considerable material stresses (a temperature difference of 1.00 C causes stress on the steel of around 2000 kg / cm \ if the body cannot expand freely) ). These claims are not permissible and threaten the life of the rotor blade very much, especially if the temperature of the rotor blade changes frequently, e.g.
B. as a result of load changes or starting and stopping the turbine. Another disadvantage of cooling with water is that the whole system is very complex.
Another type of cooling consists in that a gaseous coolant is not passed through channels in the rotor blades, but between the wall of the housing and the rotor and along the rotor blades, that is to say cools them from the outside. The coolant then either mixes with the propellant gases from the turbine or is captured separately and cooled again or used in some other way. This type of cooling is neither inadequate in the known designs or causes great temperature stresses when the cooling area never extends near the channels through which the hot gases flow.
The invention aims to eliminate the disadvantages of the last-mentioned type of cooling. It consists in the fact that the guide for the coolant extends only along the lower part of the blade root, the blade root between the lower end of the actual rotor blade and the outer circumference of the impeller having a length which is at least twice the circumference direction at the lower end of the actual blade is measured blade root width.
Exemplary embodiments of the subject matter of the invention are shown in the drawing. Figs. 1 and 2 show the device on a blade in section and in An looks, in which., The actual blade 1 sits on a foot 2 that is fastened in the impeller 3 be.
Approximately to the middle of the blade foot 2, the wall 4 extends, between which and the blade foot 2 the space 5 is left, into which the cooling air is introduced (preferably the air from the compressor ter, which för the air for the gas turbine changes, or from one of its stages).
The blade root 2 is designed to be hollow and the thickness of its walls is as small as possible. ge selected in order to achieve the smallest heat transfer from the actual rotor blade 1 into the wheel 3. Fig. 3 shows the temperature profile in the rotor blade for a cooling air temperature of 250 C and a temperature of the hot gases of 550 C:
It can be seen that the impeller 3 has practically the same temperature up to the circumference, and there are no significant temperature differences in the actual rotor blade 1 either. Almost the entire temperature gradient is therefore limited to the blade root 2.
After leaving space 5, the cooling air flows freely into the space of the turbine housing, where it mixes with the hot gases. The area around the blade foot 2 has essentially the temperature of the cooling air in the lower part of the blade foot from the impeller to the end of the wall 4, whereas the area around the upper part of the blade foot essentially has the temperature of the hot gases passing through the blade channel stream.
The position of the end point of the wall 4, which divides the area around the blade into the cold and hot areas, is selected by calculation or, better, by experiments so that the strength properties of the material of the blade and the impeller are well utilized. Is z. B. shortened the 'wall 4, this has the consequence.
that the temperature differences in impeller 3, i.e. also the stresses on the impeller, increase, but at the same time the temperature differences in the blade, i.e. also their stresses, decrease. If the stresses on the impeller have to be reduced, the stresses but the shovel may be enlarged, the wall 4 is lengthened. This increases the temperature differences in the blade while reducing the temperature differences in the impeller.
The most advantageous location of the end point of the wall 4 therefore needs. not to be exactly in the middle of the blade root.
The blade root 2 is made as long as possible, not only in order to create the largest possible area for heat transfer from the blade root 2 into the cooling air, but also because otherwise excessive stresses would arise in it due to the large temperature gradient.
In Fig. 4, a straight bar of unchangeable cross-section (e.g. square) is shown for the sake of better explanation. If this rod is heated in such a way that a temperature profile as shown in Fig. 5 arises in it, the rod will theoretically expand according to the dashed outline in Fig. 4 and in reality according to the solid line.
The outer fibers in particular have to stretch considerably, which results in very considerable bending stresses in the rod, especially in cross-sections 8 and 9. It is therefore advisable to keep the thickness 7 of the rod as small as possible and the length 6 as large as possible choose.
A closer examination of the stress shows that it is necessary to choose length 6 at least twice the thickness 7 in order to keep the bending stresses within acceptable limits. For this reason, too, the blade root 2 according to FIGS. 1 and 2 is made hollow and the thickness of the side walls is selected to be as small as possible. The width of the blade root in the circumferential direction is determined by the pitch of the blades. If the blade root width in the circumferential direction is relatively large, the blade root can be formed in the shape of a fork.
Instead of separating the foot over the entire length and parallel to the impeller plane, as indicated in Fig. 6, it can also be separated only over part of its length or in a plane perpendicular to the impeller plane or in these two planes. It is also possible to provide the blade root with cooling fins 1.0 to increase cooling, as shown in Fig. 7.
