Compressor system with axial compressors and intercooler. In order to save drive power, intercoolers are arranged in multi-stage compressors for compressing gases, which have the task of dissipating the compression heat of the gas to the cooling water before the gas is introduced into the next stage.
With radial compressors, the arrangement of the intercooler does not present any particular difficulty, as the gas flow anyway in every stage of the wave radia! 1 flows outwards and then has to be deflected inwards again.
The case is different with axial compressors. The compression can also take place here tufen @@ - c-se with intermediate cooling. where the compressor can be, for example, 3-housing.
The intermediate cooling then takes place between the low pressure and medium pressure stage and between the middle @ ldrucli- and Hoehdruel @ sthzfe. After each group of stages, the gas flow must be caught in a spiral casing or a differently shaped pressure connection and fed through pipes to an intercooler arranged on the side. The return to the next stage is also carried out by piping and a suitably shaped suction nozzle.
This multiple diversion of the gas flow: is associated with considerable pressure losses. In addition, the suction and discharge connections and the pipelines mean considerable additional costs and a deterioration in clarity.
According to the invention, these disadvantages can be avoided in that, for intermediate cooling, at least one intermediate cooler is arranged between the outlet nozzle of the one and inlet nozzle of the other compressor in such a way that the gas flow is in an almost axial direction from the outlet nozzle of one compressor can flow through the intercooler to the inlet connection of the following compressor.
The cooler can advantageously consist of one piece and have a passage opening in its center for the coupling shaft. However, it may also be useful to build it in two halves that are net angeord on both sides of the coupling shaft.
If the compression takes place, for example, in two compressors that are not coupled together, with only one intermediate cooler, it can be arranged particularly conveniently by being arranged as a single continuous piece between the outlet and inlet nozzle. The two uncoupled compressors are then expediently driven by two separately th motors or turbines, each on the side facing away from the cooler.
Figs. 1 and 2 show two embodiment examples of the invention.
The invention will be explained in more detail with reference to FIG. 1 for, for example, two cooler halves with an interposed coupling shaft in an isometric representation, with a quarter of the circumference being cut out, 2 and 3 are the two halves of the outlet connection of the low-pressure compressor 1.
The two intermediate cooler halves 4 and 5 are flanged directly to the outlet stubs. On the other hand, the coolers 4 and 5 are screwed directly to the two halves 6 and 7 of the inlet stub of the dlittal pressure compressor 8. At point 9, the two compressors are coupled to one another and the coupling shaft 10 lies between the two cooler halves 4 and 5. The arrows 11 and 12 indicate the direction of flow of dull gas upstream and downstream of the cooler.
In- Eig. 2 shows in a longitudinal section how the intercooler can be arranged, for example, between two components that are not coupled. 13 and 14 are the two drive means for low-pressure compressor 15 and
High pressure compressor 1'6 @. The intercooler 19 is on the one hand, on the outlet nozzle 17 .des Niederdruckkompressora; on the other hand, flanged on the inlet port 18 of the high pressure compressor soTs.
The technical advantage in avoidance; of Djruek losses through. Redirecting the gas flow is particularly important when using axial compressors with intercoolers in gas turbine systems. With the arrangement of the intercooler according to the invention, the degree of efficiency of the compression can be improved by 0.5 to 1% by avoiding pressure losses in pipelines.
However, the degree of effectiveness of the compression can also be improved by intensifying the intercooling by ensuring an improved heat transfer by increasing the cooler resistance, which measure is permissible according to the pressure gain according to the invention.
