Diaphragm pump. The present invention relates to a diaphragm pump, characterized in that it comprises at least one diaphragm in the thickness of the central part of which is embedded a metal head through which the diaphragm is coupled to a aeration device.
It is known that in known diaphragm pumps, a major difficulty lies in the coupling of the diaphragm to its actuation device. To push back the membrane during the compression phase, it is sufficient to provide a shield acting by pressure, but to ensure suction under a pressure equal to or less than atmospheric pressure, it is necessary to pull the membrane,
which requires that its central part be fixed to the actuating device. This fixation requires holes which weaken the material of which the membrane is made and constitute dangerous initiators of rupture. These holes also risk creating leaks and they leave metal parts exposed to the possible corrosive action of the compressed fluid.
In the pump according to the invention, these drawbacks are completely avoided, since the coupling between the membrane and the actuating device is provided by the metal head which, being embedded in the thickness of said membrane, does not require no through perforation.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, various embodiments of the invention. Fig. 1 is a longitudinal section of a first form, of execution with a single membrane and actuation by a connecting rod.
Fig. 2 is a longitudinal section of a second embodiment comprising a main membrane and a guide membrane, with actuation by a connecting rod.
Fig. 3 is a longitudinal section of a third embodiment comprising two main membranes coupled by between rods, one of them being actuated by a connecting rod.
Fig. 4 is a longitudinal section of a fourth embodiment comprising two main membranes and two guide membranes, the coupling being effected by between height bars and one of the main membranes being actuated by a connecting rod.
Fig. 5 is a cross section along V-V (fig. 3 or 4), indicating the arrangement of the spacers in the embodiments according to fig. 3 or 4.
Fig. 6 and 7 show in longitudinal section two other embodiments with two membranes coupled by spacers, in which the actuation is provided by a circular cam acting on slides or pushers.
The pump shown in fig. 1 comprises a membrane 1 in the thickness of the central part of which is embedded a metal head 2 of flattened shape with angles. ar rondis, this head extending by a tail 3 which protrudes outside the thickness of the membrane 1 and receives a profiled shield 4, shaped so as to apply the. mem brane against the cylinder head 10.
On the cxirém.ité of the tail 3 is screwed a yoke 5 in which is articulated the foot of a connecting rod 6 whose -head is mounted on a button 7 integral with a turntable 8 mounted on the shaft of a suitable motor, or on an independent shaft connected to a motor by any suitable intermediate device.
The periphery of the membrane 1 is clamped between a body 9, of any suitable shape, and the cylinder head 10 comprising a housing 11 intended to receive suction and discharge valves (not shown).
When the plate 8 rotates, it oscillates the connecting rod 6. The yoke 5, fixed to the head 2, that is to say to the center of the membrane 1, can practically only move longitudinally, just as if it was guided by rigid slides. It therefore takes an alternating longitudinal movement with the shield 4 and the membrane 1, which ensures the operation of the pump.
During the suction stroke, the diaphragm is positively pulled by the head 2, just as if it were bolted by its center with the yoke 5. However, the face of the diaphragm facing the cylinder head 10 is not perforated. and has no metal parts exposed to the compressed fluid. There is therefore no risk of leakage by lack of sealing at a joint, nor of the initiation of a breakage, nor of corrosion by a fluid attacking common metals.
The membrane 1 is advantageously made of a molded plastic and / or elastic material, for example of natural or synthetic rubber.
In the embodiment of FIG. 2, there is provided an auxiliary guide membrane 12, disposed between the, yoke 5 and the shield 4 and separated from the latter by a spacer 13 mounted on the. tail 3, the length of which is planned accordingly. The peripheries of membranes 1 and 12 are also kept at an appropriate distance by an intermediate ring 14.
Of course, the auxiliary mem brane 12 is perforated right through for the passage of the tail 3, but it is possibly possible to reinforce this trap by embedding in the membrane, an appropriate metal sleeve.
The operation remains the same as in the case of fig. 1, but the auxiliary diaphragm 12 provides better guidance of the yoke 5. It reduces the radial forces imposed on the main diaphragm 1 and, on the other hand, it protects the latter against oil projections from the bearings or connecting rod joints. It will also be noted that the tail 3, guided by the two membranes 1 and 12 separated from each other, is better maintained against the parasitic forces tending to make it tilt.
In the embodiment, of fig. 3, the pump comprises a left part similar to the construction shown in FIG. 1. But the body 9, of cylindrical section, extends to the right beyond the plate 8 and comes to carry a second assembly comprising a membrane l ', a shield 4' coupled to the membrane l 'by means of 'a flooded head 2', and a cylinder head 10 '.
However, the tail 3 'integral with the head 2' does not carry a yoke for the articulation of a connecting rod and the shield 4 'is coupled with the shield 4 of the left assembly by means of two spacers solid or tubular 15 fixed by pinning, screwing, welding, bra sure or otherwise in bosses ,, 4a, 4'a of the shields 4 and 4 '.
In fig. 3, for the com modity of the drawing, it has been assumed that the rods 15 were arranged in the same axial vertical plane, but in reality, it is advantageous to have them in a slightly oblique axial plane, as shown the section of fig. 5, in such a way that they do not hinder the movement of the head of the connecting rod 6, which head can be relatively bulky when it is mounted on a ball or roller bearing.
It will be understood that the reciprocating movement of the shield 4 is transmitted by the beams 15 to the shield 4 'which actuates the mem brane the. The compressor thus operates for the outward and return of the single connecting rod 6. The assembly of the two shields and the coupling spacers 15 forms a rigid whole which, given the spacing of the two membranes 1 and 1 ', has absolutely no tendency to tilt, even if the connecting rod 6 is relatively short. This produces a very simple device and particularly safe operation.
It goes without saying that the number of gauges 15 may vary depending on the case.
In the embodiment of FIG. 4, two main membranes are also provided with shields coupled by spacers, as in the case of fig. 3, but at. each membrane 1 or 1 'is associated with an auxiliary guide membrane 12 or 12', the assembly being comparable to that shown in FIG. 2.
Of course, the spacers 15 must pass through the auxiliary membranes which are clamped to them by nuts 15a, 15'a. It will be noted, moreover, that the auxiliary membrane 12 'is only secured to the movable assembly by means of said beams. As in the embodiment following fig. 3, the spacers 15 are preferably in an oblique axial plane, as shown in FIG. 5.
The pump shown in fig. 6 has two main membranes coupled by spacers 15, but each of the latter is in two parts assembled by a system of the type known under the name of "aircraft tensioner", comprising a sleeve 16 with two threads of opposing pitch and -two locking cage nuts 17. This device enables the length of the spacers to be adjusted very exactly.
In addition, the tails 3 and 3 'of the two heads 2 and 2' embedded in the membranes carry at their end -des pieces 18 forming parallel vertical slides between which turns an eccentric roller 19 mounted on the drive shaft. It will be understood that, with a judicious adjustment of the length of the rods 15 -and 15 ', the roller 19 can tangential the two slides 18 and, consequently, ensure the reciprocating axial movement of the movable assembly.
To reduce friction, the roller 19 can be replaced by a ball bearing mounted on an eccentric seat. It is possible to provide lateral guiding chins or else to profile the surfaces in contact, for example, to provide the roller with a triangular or trapezoidal groove and to shape the slides 18 accordingly.
In the embodiment of FIG. 7, the roller 19 cooperates not with vertical slides, but with two balls 20 mounted idly in the stop pieces 21. The roller then sometimes attacks one of the balls. sometimes the other; there are therefore shocks, but they are of little importance, especially if the speed of rotation is reduced; moreover, they can be eliminated or reduced considerably by providing a thrust spring behind each ball 20, so that it always remains in contact with the roller.
