It has been found that valuable, genuine dyeings or prints can be produced on synthetic fiber materials by using the aforementioned fiber materials with dyes of formula 1
EMI0001.0001
in which A is an alkyl group with 1 to 4 carbon atoms, which can be substituted by hydroxy, alkoxy with 1 to 4 carbon atoms, phenoxy and / or acyloxy groups, and B denotes a naphthyl group or a phenyl group,
which can be substituted by halogen atoms, alkyl and / or alkoxy groups with 1 to 4 carbon atoms, trifluoromethyl, cyano, nitro, carboalkoxy, acetyl, benzoyl and / or phenyl groups, in aqueous dispersion or in organic solvents treated.
Examples of acyl groups are the acetyl, propionyl and benzoyl groups.
Dyes of the formula 2 are preferred
EMI0001.0027
in which R represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms or the acetyl, propionyl or benzoyl group and in which B has the meanings given above, for use.
The dyes can also be used as a mixture with one another or with other dyes.
The novel dyes to be used according to the invention can be prepared in a manner known in principle by adding a diazo component of the formula 3, preferably of the formula 4
EMI0001.0034
is diazotized for example in mineral acid solution or suspension with nitrite and is coupled with an azo component of the formula 5 H, N-OC-CH2-CO-NH-B (5), for example in weakly alkaline, neutral or acidic solution or suspension.
Dyes in which R in the above formula 2 has the meaning of an acyl group can be obtained. by dyes in which R in the formula (2) is a hydrogen atom, are acylated in a known manner with a corre sponding acid or a suitable acid derivative such as the acid chloride or acid anhydride.
The azo components of the formula (5) mentioned can be prepared, for example, by partial hydrolysis of cyanoacetanilides of the formula (6) NC-CH2-CO-NH-B (6) with concentrated sulfuric acid at room temperature.
In the formulas (3), (4), (5) and (6), A, B and R have the meanings given above. As synthetic fiber materials, for example, those made from cellulose esters, polyesters, polyolefins, poly amides, polyurethanes and polyacrylonitriles come into consideration.
Of the synthetic fiber materials mentioned, those made from cellulose esters such as cellulose acetate and cellulose triacetate are preferred for the present dyeing and printing process, but in particular those made from polyesters such as polyethylene terephthalate. The synthetic fiber materials can also be mixed with one another or with natural fiber materials such as cellulose fibers or wool. Furthermore, they can be present in various processing states, such as, for example, as sliver, flock, thread, woven or knitted fabric.
The application of the dyes used according to the process, which is carried out in a manner known in principle, is generally carried out from an aqueous dispersion, but can also be carried out from organic solvents. The dyes can be dispersed, for example, by grinding in the presence of a dispersant, such as, for example, the condensation product of formaldehyde and a naphthalenesulfonic acid.
In addition, the dyeing conditions largely depend on the type of synthetic fiber materials and their processing status.
For example, molded structures made of cellulose acetate are dyed in a temperature range from 75 to 85 ° C. Cellulose triacetate fibers are dyed at temperatures between approximately 90 and 125 ° C.
The application of the dyes to polyamide fiber materials takes place in the temperature range between about 90 and 120 C. For the dyeing of fiber materials made of polyester, the methods known for this are used by placing the goods in the presence of carriers such as o- or p-phenylphenol, Methyl naphthalene or methyl salicylate, colors at temperatures around 100 to about 130 C, or temperatures without the use of carriers at correspondingly higher Tem, eg.
B. between 120 and 140 C, colors. In addition, when carrying out the present method on the fiber materials mentioned, you can also proceed in such a way that the dyes are thickened by padding with or without thickeners, eg. B. tragacanth thickening, are applied and fixed by the action of heat, for example by steam or dry heat for about 1/2 to 30 minutes at temperatures in the range of about 100 to 230.
The material dyed in this way is then expediently freed of dye adhering to the surface in order to improve the rub fastness, for example by rinsing or a reductive aftertreatment. This reductive aftertreatment is generally carried out at 60 to 120 ° C. in an aqueous sodium hydroxide solution, sodium dithionite and a nonionic detergent, e.g. B. an ethylene oxide-phenol addition product containing liquor.
To dye synthetic fiber materials from organic solvents, one can, for example, proceed in such a way that the dye can be absorbed from the solution onto the fiber at room temperature or above, preferably at about 70 to about 130 ° C., optionally under pressure, or in such a way that In a continuous operation, woven or knitted fabrics are impregnated with a dye solution, dried and subjected to brief exposure to heat, for example, at temperatures of about 180 to about 210 C under throws.
Solvents for the exhaust process are, for example, water-immiscible solvents with boiling points between about 40 and about 170 C, such as aliphatic halogenated hydrocarbons, such as methylene chloride, trichloroethane, trichlorethylene, perchlorethylene or trifluorotrichloroethane. In particular for a continuous dyeing process, water-miscible solvents, such as alcohols or dimethylformamide, are also suitable.
The solvents can of course also be present as mixtures and other solvent-soluble auxiliaries, such as, for example, oxyalkylation products of fatty alcohols, alkylphenols and fatty acids, contain.
To produce prints on synthetic fiber materials, for example those made from polyesters, polyamides or cellulose triacetate, the dyes to be used according to the invention can be used in the form of water-containing preparations which, in addition to the finely divided dye, can contain suitable thickeners and setting accelerators. The fixation takes place, for example, after printing and drying by steaming at atmospheric pressure or under increased pressure up to 2.5 atmospheres for 10 to 60 minutes. The fixation can also be brought about by the action of hot air at about 160 to about 210 ° C. for 30 seconds to 10 minutes.
With the new dyes to be used according to the process, yellow colorations and prints with excellent authenticity are achieved. Particularly noteworthy are the good lightfastness and the exceptionally high thermosetting fastness.
The closest structurally comparable dyes used in accordance with the process are those described in US Pat. No. 3,252,968, which can be used as pigments, for example for pigment printing. However, these known dyes have practically no drawability on synthetic fiber materials, so that they are completely useless for dyeing and printing such materials.
It is therefore to be regarded as extraordinarily surprising that the dyes used according to the process have very good drawability on synthetic fiber materials and produce strong dyeings and prints with very good fastness properties.
The parts mentioned in the examples are parts by weight, unless otherwise stated. Parts of space relate to parts by weight as liters to kilograms under normal conditions. Percentages relate to percentages by weight. Example 1 10 parts of polyester yarn are placed in a 60 C warm dye bath, which consists of 300 parts of softened water, 0.3 parts of the finely divided dye of the formula (7)
EMI0002.0031
1 part of a commercially available carrier, such as o-phenylphenol, and 0.5 part of ammonium sulfate.
The pH of the dyebath is adjusted to pH 5 to 5.5 with acetic acid. In 30 to 60 minutes, the temperature is raised to boiling temperature and dyed for 90 minutes at this temperature. The fabric is then removed, rinsed and reductively aftertreated for 20 minutes at 80 to 90 ° C. in a bath containing 6 parts of sodium hydroxide solution (38 Be), 4 parts of sodium dithionite and 1 part of a non-ionic detergent per liter. Finally the dyed fabric is rinsed and dried.
A yellow dyeing with very good fastness properties is obtained, in particular good fastness to light and heat-setting and a high color yield. A cellulose acetate material is dyed in the same way, advantageously setting a pH of 6 to 6.5 in the dyebath. However, the reductive aftertreatment can be omitted.
The dye represented by the above formula (7) can be obtained as follows.
39.6 parts of 3-nitro-4-amino-ss-hydroxy-ethoxybenzene are dissolved in 400 parts of water and 120 parts of hot 5N hydrochloric acid and, after pouring into 2000 parts of ice water, 45.5 parts of the azo component malonic acid amide-2'- Nitro-anilide are dissolved in 800 parts of water and 54 parts by volume of a 33% strength aqueous sodium hydroxide solution at room temperature and, after adding 2 parts of a nonionic emulsifier, such as the reaction product of oleyl alcohol and 30 moles of ethylene oxide, by rapidly adding 40 parts by volume of glacial acetic acid while stirring precipitated again in finely divided form.
The diazo solution is then added and a pH of about 6.5 is set with 2N sodium hydroxide solution.
The precipitated dye is isolated by filtration and washing. It can be dried or brought into a finely divided form in the form of the water-containing filter residue with the aid of commercially available dispersants, such as a condensation product of formaldehyde and a naphthalenesulfonic acid.
Example 2 10 parts of polyester fabric are placed in a 50 C warm dyebath, which consists of 400 parts of softened water and 0.2 parts of the dye of the formula (8)

<tb> <B> O </B> <SEP> consists of <SEP> finely divided <SEP> form <SEP>. The pH of the dyebath is adjusted to 5 to 5.5 with ammonium sulfate and acetic acid. The temperature is driven to 130 ° C. in 40 to 60 minutes. Staining takes place at this temperature for one hour.
The colored material is then treated as described in Example 1 and finished.
The result is a yellow coloration with excellent fastness properties and high color strength.
Similar results are obtained if a fabric made of cellulose triacetate fibers is used instead of polyester fabric and the dyeing is carried out at a temperature of 110 ° C.
Dyeings with equally good fastness properties are also obtained if polyester yarn is dyed from perchlorethylene for 30 minutes at 120 ° C. in a closed apparatus with the dye of the formula (8) mentioned.
The dye of the formula (8) is obtained if the dry dye of the formula (7) mentioned, which can be prepared as described in Example 1, is acylated with acyl anhydride, for example in a benzene solution with heating.
Example 3 A polyester-cellulose mixed fabric is mixed at 25 to 30 C with a dye liquor which has been adjusted to a pH of 5 to 5.5 with acetic acid and which contains 10 g per liter of the finely divided dye of the formula (9)
EMI0003.0015
contains, impregnated.
It is then dried at temperatures between 100 and 110.degree. The fixation is carried out by dry heat for 30 to 90 seconds at 190 to 230 C. Finally, as described in Example 1, reductive aftertreatment is carried out and finished.
A yellow dyeing with excellent fastness properties is obtained, in particular very good fastness to sublimation. Similar high quality dyeings are obtained when dyeing cellulose triacetate fiber materials in the manner described. The dye of the formula (9) mentioned is obtained if 43.5 parts of malonic acid amide 3'-chloroanilide are used as the azo component and the procedure is otherwise as described in Example 1.
EXAMPLE 4 A polyester fabric is coated with a printing ink which, in addition to a commercially available thickener such as alginate and starch ether, and other conventional additives, 200 parts of an aqueous dye preparation containing 10% of the finely divided dye of the formula (10)
EMI0003.0026
contains, printed and dried.
Then it is fixed by hot air for 60 seconds at 200 ° C.
The pressure is flushed, reductively aftertreated in a bath containing sodium dithionite and sodium hydroxide solution, in another bath containing a nonionic detergent such as the condensation product of nonylphenol and 10 Mo len ethylene oxide, cleaned, rinsed again and dried.
A yellow print of high color strength and excellent fastness properties, in particular excellent heat-setting fastness, is obtained. Similar good results are achieved if the fixation is carried out for 20 minutes with pressurized steam of 2 atmospheres.
If, instead of polyester fabric, a fabric made of cellulose triacetate fibers is used, the reductive aftertreatment being omitted, then prints of strong color and very good fastness properties are likewise obtained.
The dye of the formula (10) mentioned is obtained if the dry dye of the formula (9), which can be prepared as described in Example 3, is acetylated with acetic anhydride.
Example 5 5 g of the dye of the formula

are dissolved in 1600 parts of perchlorethylene at 40 C. A polyester fabric with a squeezing effect of 80% is impregnated with this solution and then dried. The dye is fixed at <B> 220'C </B> for 60 seconds. The dyeing is then washed cold in perchlorethylene. The result is a yellow coloration of medium depth of color with good fastness properties.
Example 6 A fabric made of polyester fibers is given a printing ink according to Example 4, but the dye of the formula 11 as the dye
EMI0004.0001
contains, printed and dried.
The fixation is carried out by steaming at atmospheric pressure for 30 minutes.
After cleaning and drying, a reddish-tinged yellow print with high color strength and good fastness properties is obtained.
Valuable prints are also obtained if, instead of a fabric made of polyester fibers, a fabric made of cellulose acetate fibers is used.
The dye of the formula (11) is obtained if 42.4 parts of 3-nitro-4-amino-3-methoxy-ethoxybenzene are used as the diazo component and 43.5 parts of malonic acid-amide-2-chloro are used as the azo component. anilide is used and the rest of the procedure is as described in Example 1.
