v Process for manufacturing a cylinder for a safety lock. In cylinders for safety locks comprising plates placed in position by a key to allow rotation of the cylinder, these plates are generally guided by elements:
stacked on top of each other and held rigidly in position by clamping members.
These stacked elements constitute the eyeliner and it is obvious that their machining, on the one hand, and their assembly, on the other hand, is very expensive: and requires a relatively long time.
The present invention relates to a method @de manufacture of a cylinder, for a safety lock comprising -mobile members in the form of plates:
movable per pendicular to the axis of the cylinder. 'This. process tends to reduce the aforementioned drawbacks, by the fact that one takes a profiled bar having a central recess of approximately rectangular cross section and that one works in its wall by detaching the: annular grooves of a:
depth such, that they communicate directly with the interior void of the profiled bar by their small sides of: its rectangular section. :
so as to create simultaneously by a single turning operation, on the one hand, passages for said movable members, of the lock and, on the other hand, of guides for them, these guides being constituted by the walls of the long sides of the rectangular interior void and by part of:
walls of! gorges. The present invention also relates to a cylinder obtained by this process and which differs from known cylinders by the fact that it consists of a,
section of profiled bar having an interior void of approximately rectangular cross section, this section comprising 0 as! annulars made in, sa.
wall g - rge in number equal to the number of movable parts that the lock comprises, these grooves communicating directly with, the internal rec tangular void of the profile by the two small sides die sa, rectaAâular section,
so that the orifices through which the annular grooves. emerge into the interior void e:
ons- tituemt passages for said movable members and that the walls of the large sides of the internal void as well as part of the pairs of grooves constitute guides for said movable members :.
The accompanying drawing shows, diagrammatically and by way of example, a perspective view, with parts broken away, of a cylinder obtained by the process according to the invention.
This cylinder is eonetitué by a section of profile 1, comprising a. interior void 2 coaxial with the longitudinal axis of the profile .é and pre- s @ entani in transverse section; apiproxüma- tivem:
ent the shape of a rectangle. Grooves 3 are machined, .in the outer wall of the profile, in a number equal to the number of movable bodies,
that must be included in the lock. The depth of these grooves is such that they communicate with the interior void of the profile through the two small ones,
sides of the rectangular section ide @ce empty and so that the openings 4 thus created have the same length a as said rectangular section of the interior void.
From the above and from an examination of the appended drawing, it can be seen that it is without any other possible to mount in the cyliudre .les movable members of the lock constituted by movable plates. Each one (binds, these orgauesi crossing right through the cylinder by the or vertures, 4 is guided, on the one hand, by the
side -of the interior void and, on the other hand, by the walls, grooves 3 formed.
In the embodiment shown in the appended drawing, the two small sides of the internal void 2 are constituted by a sector of the cylinder coaxial with the profile, (in the manner of,
allow machining of the grooves 3 by turning without risk of deterioration of the chisel at the moment when it opens into the internal void of the profile.
It is clear that the manufacturing process described above allows precise and very rapid machining of the cylinders: and that, in addition, it reduces the cost of assembly of the lock. Indeed, the cylàndreétant come in one piece, a stacking jig and no solid: arisation of the stacked parts are necessary.
In addition, the stiffness of the cyl: indire, ebst perfect and its precision much greater.
This results in a great saving of time while avoiding variations in the length of the cylinder due to the difference in thickness of the stacked elements.
