Electric hotplate, especially for stove and stove. The present invention relates to an electric hotplate, in particular for a stove and stove, having a horizontal heating surface intended to serve as a support for a pan or the like.
Plates of this type in current use comprise an electrical resistance embedded in refractory material or the like and transmitting heat to the breakage role by conduction through the exchange surface formed by a sheet of sheet metal, or else a electrical resistance arranged in a refractory support and heating by radiation the pan placed on this support.
The electric heating plate forming the subject of the invention is characterized in that the heating surface is formed by a flat sheet of metal, in which slits are cut, this sheet constituting an electrical resistance intended to be traversed by a low voltage current, and being covered, at least on its upper face, with an insulating film on which the pan to be heated is intended to rest directly.
It is understood that, due to the elimination of any intermediary other than the insulating film between the heating resistance and the pan, the heating of the pan is operated rapidly and with high efficiency, both by conduction for the parts of the bottom of the pan which are in contact with the resistance, and by radiation of the resistance brought to red in the parts with which the bottom of the saucepan does not bear, parts being at a very short distance from this resistance.
In order to avoid any risk of electric shock during use, this electrical resistance is intended to be supplied at low voltage (generally at a voltage between 3 and 12 V), for example through a transformer included in the the stove or. the stove carrying the hotplate in question.
Under these conditions, the sections of passage wise of the current can be important, and it is possible to produce high-power plates ensuring, at high heat, a rapid warm-up and a high calorific flow.
The insulating film, which covers the upper face of the heating resistance with which it forms a unit, is intended to prevent the metal bottom of the pan in contact with the heating resistance from creating short circuits.
The insulating film may consist of a hot vitrified coating withstanding tem peratures of the order of $ 00 C that the plate is likely to reach in operation.
This film can also consist of an insulating oxide layer, produced without adding material, by artificial oxidation of the surface of the flat resistance in question, generally in stainless steel, for example by chemical treatment and / or by simple heating under suitable conditions.
In particular, the flat resistance is advantageously made of steel containing a certain proportion of aluminum, and covered with a thin film of adherent alumina formed by a prior simple heat treatment. .
This heating plate can be fixed directly on the plate .d'une cooker or stove or on another support, or else mounted in an opening of this plate and carried by a bowl plate disposed below the latter.
The flat heating resistor can in general be obtained by die cutting from a sheet of metal sheet, then covered with the above insulating film.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, two embodiments of the heating plate which is the subject of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a top view of a first embodiment constituted by a plate mounted in a bowl formed in a stove top.
Fig. 2 is a section along the line II-II of FIG. 1.
Fig. 3 is a view, similar to FIG. 1, of a second embodiment.
Fig. 4 is a section taken along line IV-IV of FIG. 3..
According to the embodiment shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, the plate 1 of a stove or cooker has, as known, a circular opening 2 for a heating plate of the same shape, intended to be fixed to the bowl plate 3 extending below the plate 1.
The horizontal circular upper surface of the hot plate, intended to be in direct contact with saucepans, consists of a flat resistance 6.
The flat resistor 6 is simply constituted by a sheet of metal in which are cut radial slots 8 and 9 and circular slots 10, so as to create a zigzag conductor between the terminals 12 and 13 located at the periphery of the resistance, on either side of the radial slot 8, on tongues 15 extending this sheet downwards.
This resistance 6, generally obtained by cutting with a press in a stainless steel sheet, is covered with an insulating film obtained by oxidation or the like, as explained above, for example by vitrification.
The heating plate is completed by a body 18 made of cast iron or sheet metal, on which the resistance 6 is fixed by lugs 20 isolated from this body and with the interposition of an insulating layer 21 (cement, asbestos or other). The body 18 has feet 22 fixed by screws to the bowl plate 3.
The tongues 15 protrude below this cup plate 3 which they pass through an opening with insulating lining 25, and the terminals 1,2 are connected, below this plate 3, to conductors 28 connecting the resistance to a low voltage transformer making it possible to supply a power of one to three kilowatts at a voltage of three to twelve volts.
This transformer has not been shown. It is preferably carried by the same frame of the stove or stove, and connected to the mains, as is usual.
For use, the serole case is placed directly on the flat resistance 6 brought to red. The bottom of the pan, which does not need. to be erect, is in almost complete contact with the resistance, and its non-bearing parts are heated very closely by radiation. The heat transmission is excellent and a very high heating power is thus obtained.
The low voltage used avoids any risk of electric shock and the film covering the plate is sufficient to prevent the bottom of the pan from creating short circuits.
In the embodiment of FIGS. 3 and 4, the cup plate 3 has an opening with projecting edges 29 coagially with the circular opening 2 formed in the plate 1. The flat resistor 6 is cut in a spiral slot 31 and is extended by an axial tab 32 and a peripheral tab 33.
This resistance, obtained and covered with a film, as explained with regard to the first embodiment, is fixed, by lugs 20, on the body 18 located below it, with the interposition of an insulating sheet. 21 asbestos or other. The body 18 rests on the edge of the rim 29 and is fixed, by feet 22, cooperating with screws, to a plate 35 or a bar located below the cup plate 3 and having a central hole 36.
The two tabs 32 and 33 project downwardly through this central hole 36, one, 32, through a passage made in the center of the body 18, and the other, 33, forming two elbows. Terminals 12 and 13 connect, below the plate or strip 36, the two tabs to cables 28 leading to a low voltage supply transformer, which can be carried by the stove or stove.
The hotplate could be fixed on another support, for example directly on the hob of the cooker or re hot. Furthermore, the shape of the resistance cutout can be any.
