Process for the production of magnetizable powder cores by spraying. It is known to produce magnetizable powder cores, in particular for the purposes of high-frequency technology, by pressing a mass consisting of magnetizable powder and certain insulating materials. It has been shown that
that the permeability of the cores increases if an iron that is as highly permeable as possible is used instead of the frequently used low-permeability iron powder.
The effective permeability of such powder cores is increased, if necessary, by using both a magnetizable powder with the greatest possible permeability and the lowest possible insulating material content. With the pressing process mentioned, these two measures can largely be carried out.
For a particularly economical production or because of other technical advantages, however, such powder cores are often not produced by pressing, but by spraying, a mixture of magnetizable powder with thermoplastic binder, which z. B. can be a synthetic resin is processed. E3 is known that the powder cores produced by injection molding cannot achieve such high permeability as can be achieved with the pressed cores.
This is because: that a higher binder content is necessary for spraying the masses in question than for pressing. The lowest of the low-permeability types of iron, which are practically widely used, especially carbonyl iron types,
usable content of thermoplastic binder is about 8 percent by weight. Instead of the low-permeability iron powder, people wanted to use a higher-permeability iron powder. However, it has been found that this powder can only be sprayed with a minimum addition of about 15 percent by weight of binder.
The use of the highly permeable iron does not result in any improvement in the overall permeability of the core due to the higher addition of binder during spraying. With a lower binder content, the mass in the Spritzzy Zinn presses itself firmly without flowing into the mold. The high binder content required therefore makes the increase in core permeability expected from the use of the more permeable powder superfluous.
The present invention relates to a method for the production of magnetizable powder cores by spraying a. Of a magnetizable powder and a thermoplastic Isaherstoff be: injection molding compound, and the aim is that a high core permeability results even when spraying is used.
According to the invention, this is achieved in that a mixture is used as the injection molding compound which consists of a magnetizable powder made of an iron-aluminum-silicon alloy and a thermoplastic binder, such as synthetic resin or the like, wherein however, the proportion by weight of thermoplastic binder is less than 157o, suitably less than 12%.
It has been shown, surprisingly, that magnetisable powder with a binder content less than 15 percent by weight, preferably about.
8 percent by weight, especially if you use a powder made from an iron-aluminum-silicon alloy that is already known for magnetic cores. It is expedient here for the alloy to contain approximately 4 to 7 percent by weight aluminum and approximately 7 to 12 percent by weight silicon.
Such a powder is mechanically much harder than highly permeable carbonyl iron powder and therefore does not appear to have the property of being deformed in the injection cylinder. In addition, such a powder has another important advantage in terms of injection technology compared to the usual iron powder.
If, in the case of iron powder mixtures, the spraying temperature is increased in order to achieve a particularly low-viscosity spraying compound, then burning of the spraying compound easily occurs, essentially through oxidation of the iron powder. In contrast, it has been shown that with powders of the specified alloy composition, combustion during spraying is practically completely avoided.
This is probably due to the fact that this powder is surprisingly much less oxidized further than the usual iron powder, especially when it is first covered with an additional thin protective skin, for example oxide skin, as a "pre-insulation", which for example is applied to the individual grains before spraying is generated or is only formed during spraying through a suitable choice of the composition and the spraying temperature.
The maximum achievable toroidal core permeabilities of the cores manufactured using the injection molding process are listed in the following table of figures.
