Table de hauteur ajustable.
Adjustable height table. The object of the invention is a table of adjustable height, characterized by means such that its superstructure can be placed at several predetermined levels relative to the organs. supporting it, with identical inclination for all possible levels, and, in addition, by means allowing the superstructure to be clamped on these. support organs.
The appended drawing shows two embodiments of the object of the invention, given by way of example, in the case of a school table of the desk type, with one or more seats.
Fig. 1 is a perspective view of one end of the table according to the first embodiment, of which FIG. 2 shows a partial section, on a larger scale.
Fig. 3 is an end view of part of the end of the table according to the second embodiment of which FIG. 4 is a section through IV-IV.
The table according to the first embodiment consists of the horizontal fixed board 1, in front of which is the inclined plane 2, serving as a cover for a box 3.
The end shown, like the rest not drawn, is supported by two tubular feet 4 and 5 joined together by a horizontal tube section 6, so as to form an inverted U.
The wall of the box 3 located opposite the horizontal tube 6 carries a hollow plate 7 with also horizontal grooves, arranged parallel, side by side, and the hollow of which shows a radius similar to the outer radius of the tube 6. The latter This can thus be applied very exactly in that which one wishes of these grooves, six in number in the example shown.
The relative position of the tube 6, with respect to this series of grooves, fixes the height of the table, which it is thus not possible to modify continuously, but on the contrary only according to a series of values. determined by the number and the spacing or not of the grooves. The table is, moreover, not tiltable, being obliged to maintain, in each of the positions, a determined orientation, in this case such that the board 1 will always remain horizontal, while the board 2 will retain a slope of constant inclination.
In order to prevent the user from modifying the height of the table at will, without being constrained to do so, and to ensure a cohesion between the grooves of the plate 7 and the tube 6 which is otherwise insufficient to maintain the box 3 at the chosen height, even by connecting the feet 4 and 5 to a base so as to cause them to elastically exert a pressure in the direction of said box on the tube 6, clamping means are also provided.
These consist of a bolt 8, of which a metal sheet 9 retains the head 10 inside the box, which the rod passes through, as well as the plate 7 and the tube 6, this bolt receiving a nut on the outside. knurled 11.
While the passage of the tube 6 is made by two diametrically opposed holes, the passage of the sheet 9, the wall of the box 3 and the plate 7 is made by a slot 12 in a vertical direction.
It clearly appears that once the tube 6 is engaged in a given groove, the tightening of the nut 11 has the effect of keeping the sound box 3 immobile, while the slot 12 allows, the nut 11 being loosened, to move from one height to another.
It is obvious that the same construction could be achieved with a profile of tube and corresponding grooves other than round and that it is not necessary for the tube 6 and the grooves to be horizontal or else the slot 12 to be vertical.
The second embodiment also comprises a box 13, surmounted by an inclined board 14.
This assembly is suspended by the intermediary of the bolt 15 forming a pivot to a part or support 16 sliding vertically in a notch 17 at mid-thickness of the foot 18.
Opposite said notch 17, this foot comprises a mortise 19 on the outside covered with a plate 20 pierced with a longitudinal opening 21 having teeth 22 on one side.
These teeth are intended to serve as a support for a rod 23 riveted or welded to a base 22 4 integral with the box 13. and passing through the support 16 by a slot 25. On this rod is screwed, externally, a handwheel 26. .
With a loose handwheel, it is possible to make the box 13 oscillate around the suspension bolt 15 by an amount limited by the length of the slot 25 and constructively provided just sufficient so that the rod 23, normally engaged in a hollow between two teeth 22, can be released and brought into another hollow.
In the position of FIG. 3, the release of the rod would require a tilting of the casing 13 in the direction of the clockwise, accompanied by a slight upward movement and the engagement, on the contrary, a tilting in. his counterclockwise, accompanied by a slight downward movement.
This tilting, of little importance, is therefore only momentary, the table finally always being placed parallel to itself regardless of the tooth 22 acting as a support for it, and therefore its height.
The. various heights provided are determined by the respective height of the teeth 22 and the immobilization is ensured, in each possible position, by the tightening of the handwheel 26.
Note that the support 16 always at least partially fills the notch 17 of the foot 18 which, in addition to this notch, only has cavities in the mortise 19. When the table is placed on its lowest notch, the top of the support 16 completes the profile of the top of foot 18.
It is evident that here, as also in the first embodiment, it is, if not essential, at least much preferable to connect the or the feet on one of the sides by a plinth or any other means to that. or those of the feet located. on the opposite side.
Finally, the tightening means could require the use of a key or other particular operating device.
