Commutateur rotatif.
Ce commutateur est caractérisé par les points suivants: a) l'ouverture et la fermeture de chaque paire de contacts sont obtenues. par l'action d'un élément mobile sur un levier à bascule porte-contact pivotant sur une chape fixe, le courant .étant amenéà chacun des contacts mobiles par une lame élastique appliquée par un ressort sur une lame d'arrivée de cou rant, le déplacement de l'élément mobile qui provoque le mouvement dudit levier étant produit par le mouvement de rotation de la pièce de commande;
b) la pièce de commande rotative précitée comporte, sur celle de ses faces destinée à coopérer avec les éléments mobiles, des em preintes à flancs inclinés; c) avec ladite pièce de commande est com binée une plaque fige percée de trous assurant le guidage des éléments mobiles dans leur mouvement de montée et de descente, le nombre de trous correspondant au nombre d'éléments. mobiles et, par suite, au nombre de paires de contacts à desservir;
Sur le dessin: les fig. 1 et 2 .sont, respectivement, une vue en plan par-dessous et une coupe par II-II de la fig. 1, représentant schémati quement le dispositif de commande à billes; la fig. 3 est une coupe par III-III de la fig. 4 et la fig. 4 une vue en plan de dessus du commutateur précité à douze positions;
la fig. 5 est une vue en plan, par-dessous, de la plaque à bornes de la partie électrique du commutateur; la fig. 6 montre la même plaque, vue de dessus; les fig. 7 à 8, enfin, sont des vues de détail en coupe verticale montrant des va- liantes de dispositifs de leviers porte-con- tact réalisant, à l'ouverture et à la fermeture du circuit, le déplacement qui assure le net toyage des contacts par frottement;
Rotary switch. The present invention relates to a rotary switch which can be arranged so as to allow the production, in a very simple way, of electrical diagrams requiring multiple combinations, for example for the control of boxes. electro-mechanical gears. various vehicles (trucks, locomotives, etc.), machine tools, etc.
This switch is characterized by the following points: a) opening and closing of each pair of contacts is obtained. by the action of a movable element on a contact-carrier rocker lever pivoting on a fixed yoke, the current being brought to each of the movable contacts by an elastic blade applied by a spring on a current inlet blade, the movement of the movable element which causes the movement of said lever being produced by the rotational movement of the control part;
b) the aforementioned rotary control part comprises, on that of its faces intended to cooperate with the movable elements, impressions with inclined sides; c) with said control part is combined a fixed plate pierced with holes ensuring the guiding of the movable elements in their upward and downward movement, the number of holes corresponding to the number of elements. mobile and, consequently, the number of pairs of contacts to be served;
d) the electrical part is mounted together with the mechanical part on a common fixing plate comprising the contact carrier levers.
The moving parts can be made up of. balls; they can also be constituted by pushers.
The contact carrier lever movement can consist of a simple pivoting; however, in alternative embodiments, the contact carrier levers are mounted. in such a way that their rocking movement is accompanied by a movement ensuring the cleaning of the contacts by friction. Some of the mounting brackets of the contact carrier levers can be conductive and mounted by screws forming current input terminals, which makes it possible to realize combinations of separate circuits, and, possibly, the supply of several devices with just one switch.
By way of illustration only, without any limiting nature of the scope of the invention, an exemplary embodiment will be described below and has been shown in a completely diagrammatic manner in the accompanying drawing. the subject of said invention; this example is a twelve-position switch intended for controlling a twelve-speed electro-mechanical gearbox.
In the drawing: figs. 1 and 2 are, respectively, a plan view from below and a section through II-II of FIG. 1, schematically showing the ball control device; fig. 3 is a section through III-III of FIG. 4 and fig. 4 a top plan view of the aforesaid twelve position switch;
fig. 5 is a plan view, from below, of the terminal board of the electrical part of the switch; fig. 6 shows the same plate, seen from above; figs. 7 to 8, finally, are detail views in vertical section showing variants of contact-holder lever devices carrying out, on opening and closing of the circuit, the movement which ensures the cleaning of the contacts. by friction;
the. fig. 9 is a detail view in vertical section showing another variant of a contact holder lever possibly allowing the supply of several devices with a single switch.
As seen in Figs. 1 and 2, the device for controlling the opening and closing of. circuits comprises a main part 1 constituting the control member, a plate 2 pierced with holes in a number equal to that of the pairs of contacts that the switch must include and as many balls 3 as the plate 2 has holes. Part 1 is very easy to machine; it allows many combinations to be obtained without having to resort to a large tool. It has on its lower face, facing the plate 2, indentations with inclined sides obtained for example by drilling and intended to receive the balls 3.
The control of each switch contact carrier is ensured by the vertical displacement of a ball 3, displacement obtained by the rotation of the part 1 when, during this rotation, a ball 3 comes into the high position (case of the ball on the right in Fig. 2), said ball, engaged in the cavity of the part 1, does not act on the corresponding contact carrier member. On the other hand, when it is a solid part of part 1 which is placed above the ball (case of the left ball in fig. 2), the latter is pushed down and acts on the ball. 'or gane contact holder.
It can be seen that, in order to produce any electrical diagram, with such a device, it suffices to provide on part 1, as indicated, by way of example, in FIG. 1, in correspondence with each of the control balls of the contact-carrier levers, a certain number of recesses for housing the balls, these imprints being suitably distributed angularly.
Figs. 3 to 6 show, simply by way of example, an embodiment of a twelve-position switch comprising the application of the device which has just been described. We will distinguish in this apparatus the mechanical part and the electrical part.
Io Mechanical part.
A fixing plate 4 serves as a support for the assembly of the mechanism and for the electrical part. On this plate are assembled, by means of the locking rods 5, a locking plate 6 and the aforementioned plate 2 pierced with a certain number of holes distributed according to the electrical diagram to be produced and in a number corresponding to the number of contacts to be made. mander to ensure the distribution of the electrical circuits, each of these holes being intended to receive a ball 3.
The control part 1 ensures the worm rusting and the movement of the balls 7. The locking is obtained by means of the balls 7 pushed by a spring 8, balls which determine the position of the part 1 with respect to the fixed locking plate 6 , the latter comprising for this purpose. notches in number equal to the number of positions to be carried out.
The underside of the control part 1 bears the imprints referred to above, imprints the number and distribution of which are such that the rotation of part 1 allows the balls 3 to be erased or, on the contrary, of fairesaillie on plate 2 according to the contacts to be ensured in each position.
The maneuver of rotation of the part 1 is effected by means of a lever 9; a button 10, provided with an index, makes it possible to locate the positions chosen as can be seen more particularly in FIG. 1. 20 Part electric.
The electrical part forms an independent assembly from the mechanical part and comprises only very simple electrical circuits, without long connections or cabling, the device allowing very rapid cutting or closing of the electrical circuits by contacts that are easy to clean and to which: the desired dimensions can be given without difficulty.
The entire electrical part of the switch is supported by an insulating plate 11 carrying as many fixed contacts 12 as there are contacts to be made in the diagram to be produced (see in particular FIG. 5). The contacts 12 can be made of brass or they can be provided with insert contact pads of silver, tungsten or other suitable conductive material.
These contacts pass through the plate 11 and serve directly as terminals for the departure of the wires to be supplied. The plate 11 with its contacts thus forms a terminal plate of which FIG. 5 shows an exemplary embodiment. Opposite each of the aforementioned fixed contacts 12 are arranged movable contacts 13. in equal number, each of these contacts being mounted on a lever 14 made of insulating material.
Each of the levers 14 is: supported by a yoke 15 and pivots on an axis 16. The current is supplied to each of the contacts 13 by an elastic blade 17 made, for example, of chrysocale. On the other hand, each elastic blade 17 is applied by a spring 18 to the central blade 19 of the current inlet. This blade is fixed by a screw 20 which also serves as a current inlet terminal.
The spring 18 also serves, through the intermediary of the lever 14, to close the circuit between the contacts 12 and 131.
To control a twelve-speed electromechanical gearbox taken here as an example, the circuits to be produced require eight starting terminals. Dan, in this case, the plate 11 is provided with eight groups of levers and pairs of contacts.
The plate 11 with its levers and its contacts forms an assembly which constitutes the electrical part and which is assembled with the mechanical part described above by means of the locking rods 5 with the interposition of a spacer 21, the heel of each levers 14 facing one of the eight balls 3 corresponding to the eight levers.
The switch thus produced can be made perfectly sealed if this is necessary. On the other hand, if you want to ventilate the electrical part, you can make openings in the spacer 21.
In variants, the contact-carrying levers 14 are made so that they. produce a slight displacement of the contacts one on top of the other when the circuit is closed or opened, this displacement ensuring the cleaning of the contacts by rubbing.
In a first variant, shown in FIG. 7, the movable contact 13 is mounted together with a current inlet blade on a leaf spring 22, this spring being riveted to a folded sheet 23. On the latter is still riveted an insulating part 24 provided with a heel ' and comprising a housing intended to receive a spring 18 ', this arrangement being similar to that of the lever 14 of FIG. 3. When the ball 5 releases the lever, the spring 18 'brings the pads 12 and 13 into contact, the leaf spring 22 flexes slightly and causes the surfaces to slide.
In the second variant shown in FIG. 8, a lever 25, comparable to the lever 14 of FIG. 3, has an articulation hole on the axis of the yoke which, instead of being cylindrical, as in the embodiment of FIG. 3, is elongated and has the shape of an inclined lumen. When no pressure is exerted on the heel of the lever 25, the spring applies the lower part of the light on the axis 16, but if pressure is exerted at a by means of the ball, the lever is supported on contact and pressure,
by flattening the spring, moves said lever until the light bears on the axis 16 by its upper part. This displacement of the lever, by the effect of the inclination of the light, determines the horizontal displacement producing the cleaning of the contacts by friction.
Fig. 9 shows another variant in which the supply of the contact 13 can be provided independently for each contact-holder lever. In this case, the lever 25 is supported by a conductive yoke 26 provided with a tab on which the blade 17 rubs. The yoke 26 is fixed to the plate 11 by a screw 27 forming a current inlet terminal.
The assembly of the. fig. 9 allows combinations of separate circuits and, if necessary, the supply of several devices with a single switch.
