Beispiele des Verfahrens nach der Er findung sollen nun unter Bezugnahme auf die beiliegende Zeichnung, welche Ausfüh rungsbeispiele der erfindungsgemässen Ein richtung betrifft, näher erläutert werden. .In der Zeichnung zeigt: Fig. 1 eine schematische Darstellung eines Zylinderteils einer Verbrennungskraft- rnaschine: Fig. 2 zeigt die Anwendung der Erfin dung auf eine Maschine, deren Zylinderöff nungen durch einen Rohrschieber gesteuert werden;
Method for operating a two-stroke combustion engine and device for carrying out the method. The present invention relates to a method for operating a two-stroke internal combustion engine and a device for performing the method.
In two-stroke internal combustion engines, it can be useful to keep a valve open for a very short time, for example for a small fraction of a second, in order to maintain a very short gas flow. Due to the inertia of the valve parts, it has not been possible until now to build a fully functioning valve for this purpose.
In two-stroke internal combustion engines, the general theory about the states that are present after the explosion of a charge in the cylinder and when the exhaust ports are opened, that during a period which will hereinafter be referred to as the "first period", a be A certain amount of combusted gases is expelled from the cylinder at high speed, creating a high partial or almost complete vacuum in the cylinder. This gas body then moves back and forth at a high frequency from and into the cylinder. These vibrations are due to the impact of the gas mass on the gases present in the outlet line.
They generate alternating negative and positive pressure fluctuations within the cylinder. If the outlet opening can be closed immediately after this first period, a greater pressure reduction can be produced in the cylinder than at any later point in the outlet period, which pressure reduction in turn can be expediently used to recharge the cylinder.
Since the so-called first outlet period extends over a time interval of the order of 0.01 to 0.001 seconds after opening the outlet openings, it is practically impossible to open and close the mentioned openings during this short time. This is due to the inertia of the valve parts. The present invention now allows the flow of the combustion gases to be controlled so that the discharge period is practically of the duration mentioned above.
The inventive method for operating a two-stroke internal combustion engine with; an outlet line and a controlled outlet cross-section, which establishes the connection between the cylinder and the outlet line, is now characterized in that a spring-loaded valve, which is arranged in the outlet line near the outlet cross-section, is used to control the outlet of the combustion gases,
is opened after the charge has exploded, whereupon the outlet cross-section is opened after the expansion to allow the combustion gases to flow out into the outlet line, whereupon the spring-loaded valve is closed at the end of the so-called first outlet period to allow the Prevent gases from entering the cylinder through the exhaust cross section.
The device according to the invention for carrying out this method is characterized by a controlled outlet cross section and an outlet valve which are arranged one behind the other in the direction of flow of the combustion gases, __,; @ _ #: _. :
-eh a cam cooperating with the outlet valve, which practically allows a sudden closing of the valve mentioned at the moment of the end of the so-called first outlet period by the valve spring.
The outlet cross-section can be formed by one or more openings in the cylinder wall which, for. B. be controlled by the reciprocating piston itself or by a tubular spool, or through openings that are controlled by a Kol benschieber, a rotary valve or a Tel lerventil.
Examples of the method according to the invention will now be explained in more detail with reference to the accompanying drawings, which Ausfüh approximate examples of the inventive device is explained. The drawing shows: FIG. 1 a schematic representation of a cylinder part of an internal combustion engine: FIG. 2 shows the application of the invention to a machine, the cylinder openings of which are controlled by a pipe slide;
Fig. 3 shows. in vertical section another embodiment of an internal combustion engine FIG. 4 is a section: along the line IV-IV of FIG. 3; Fig. 5 shows. a speed regulator which is mounted on a machine according to FIG. 4, and FIG. 6 shows in a diagram the moment of opening and closing of the valve in a two-stroke machine.
In the drawing, 10 schematically denotes a machine cylinder which contains a reciprocating piston 11 and has a series of outlet openings 12 and a series of inlet openings 1a. The outlet openings 12 are connected to an outlet line 14 and the inlet openings 13 are connected to the inlet line 15.
In the outlet line 1.4, in the vicinity of the openings 12, there is a valve 16, the closing movement of which is controlled by a spring 17 and the opening movement of which is controlled by a lever arm 18. The latter is rotatably mounted at 19 and is operated by a Noeke 20. Cam 20 can e.g. B. extend spirally and have an approximately radially extending surface 21 in order to enable a rapid (sudden) closure of the Ven valve 16 under the influence of the spring 17. In order to reduce the friction, a roller 22 is advantageously placed on the arm 18, which works with the cam 20 together.
In operation, after the explosion, the charge in the cylinder 10 of the Kol ben 11 will move downward in the position shown in FIG. 1. Valve 16 is only opened to allow the combustion gases free passage when the Kol ben 1.1. subsequently after the expansion the outlet openings 12 releases.
In a certain moment after the opening of the outlet openings 12, valve 16 is suddenly closed by spring action as soon as the surface 21 of the cam 20 lies opposite the roller 22 and the latter slides down over surface 21. Practically at the same time, Kol ben 11 releases the inlet openings 13 as it moves downwards.
The moment of closing the valve 16 coincides approximately with the end of the so-called first exhaust period, in which moment the combustion gases have been expelled from the cylinder and leave a strong pressure reduction in the same. The closing of the outlet valve 16 prevents any return of the gases from the part of the outlet line indicated by 23.
This maintains the negative pressure in the cylinder 10, the latter being automatically charged when the inlet openings 13 are opened by the inflow of the explosive mixture from the inlet line 15. When the inlet openings 13 are closed by the piston 11 moving upwards (compression stroke), the charge in the cylinder 10, due to its high entry speed, has a pressure which is greater than the atmospheric pressure.
The use of the described outlet valve arrangement according to the inven tion on an internal combustion engine, the outlet and inlet openings of which are controlled by a pipe control slide that goes back and forth, is shown in FIG. 2.
In this arrangement, the inlet line 15 and the inlet openings 13 are arranged at the lower end of the cylinder and the outlet openings are arranged in the vicinity of the cylinder head. In the outlet line 14, the outlet pipe valve 16 is controlled in a similar manner - as with reference to FIG. 1 described.
The opening of the outlet openings 12 and the inlet openings 13 is controlled in this embodiment by a tubular control slide 24, which is displaced in the usual manner known per se from a camshaft, not shown, and possibly also rotated during its reciprocating movement . Since these arrangements are well known, see a further description of the actuation of the tubular control valve 24. The valve could also only be rotatable.
In using the device shown in Fig. 2, after the charge in cylinder 10 has exploded, valve 16 is opened while piston 11 moves downward. In a given, in front of a certain moment the pipe control slide 24 is moved downwards and thus releases the openings 12 at the end of the expansion. After these openings 12 are opened, the valve 16 is closed in the manner described with reference to FIG.
Practically at the moment the valve 16 is closed, the pipe control slide 24 releases the inlet openings 13, so that the pressure reduction in the cylinder 10 caused by blowing out combustion gases at the end of the so-called first outlet period automatically charges the same through the inlet line 15.
Fig. 3 shows a practically executed variant of the device in vertical section. As can be seen, the cylinder 10 receiving the piston 11 is provided with one or more outlet openings 12 and an outlet line 14. The valve 16 is loaded by a spring 17 and can be actuated by a lever arm 18 which works together with a cam 20.
In this embodiment, the inlet opening 30 in the cylinder head is controlled by an inlet valve 31. Valve 31 is loaded by a spring 32; it is actuated by pivoting the lever 33 about bolts 34. At the end 35 of this lever, a transmission rod 36 engages. Rod 36 is operated by cam 37 mounted on camshaft 78. The latter is driven by a gear 38 attached to the crankshaft 39 by a suitable transmission, which is not shown.
The cam 20 is arranged on a camshaft 40 which carries a gear 41 which in turn meshes with a loose gear 42. Wheel 42 is in turn in mesh with gear 38, which is arranged on the crankshaft. The arrangement of these gears is specifically shown in Fig. 4, he.
Since the moment of completion of the valve 16 is of fundamental importance, means are provided to adjust this moment by adjusting the angular position of the camshaft 40 and cam 20 relative to the crankshaft can. This device is from Fig. 4 it is evident. As can be seen, the wheel 38 seated on the crankshaft engages the loosely rotating wheel 42, which is loosely supported by ball bearings 43 on the bearing pin 74. Wheel 42, in turn, meshes with wheel 41, which is seated on camshaft 40.
The device for setting the Win kellage of the camshaft 40 has a sleeve 44 which is non-rotatably but axially displaceably connected to the gear 41 by means of a spline connection 45. Sleeve 44 carries on its inner circumference a benlinie extending after a screw rib 72 which engages in the helical groove 46 on the circumference of the stepped end of the camshaft 47.
The engagement of the rib on the inside of the sleeve 44 in the helical groove 46 has the effect that an axial movement of the sleeve 44 changes the angular position of the camshaft 40 with respect to the wheel 41 and thus also with respect to the crankshaft 39.
In order to effect the aforementioned axial adjustment of the sleeve 44, in the embodiment according to FIG. 4 an actuating button 48 is provided which sits on a rotatably mounted spindle 49 which is carried by the housing of the device by suitable members. The spindle 49 is ver see with thread not shown in the drawing and carries a with the same in A gripping nut 50. Bolts 51, which are in engagement with the forked member 52, prevent rotation of the nut 50, but ge equip a displacement same in the direction of the spindle axis. The forked link 52 is pivotable about bolts 53.
Its lower, also forked end 54 penetrates a groove 55 of the sleeve 44. By rotating the knob 48, an axial movement of the nut 50 can be brought about, which is transmitted to the sleeve 44 via the member 52, 54.
The arrangement of this manual setting allows a very fine change in the setting of the cam 20 and thus a very fine adjustability of the closure of the additional valve 16. This setting will normally take place with the machine running, so that the adjustment of the cam 20 according to the properties of the relevant Machine can be done.
Since the closing time of the outlet valve apparently varies as the machine speed changes, it is useful to provide an automatic control that reacts to the speed of the machine instead of the manual setting described. Such a device is shown in FIG. 5, according to which gear wheel 41 drives the camshaft 40 via a sleeve 44 with a helical groove 46 as described with reference to FIG. Wheel 41 meshes with a gear 60, which forms part of a controller 61 which reacts to the speed.
This regulator 61 comprises a curved plate 62 and a flat plate 63, the latter being able to rotate freely on the shaft 64. The regulator 61 also has a number of, in the illustrated exemplary embodiment, six rotating balls 65 which are arranged in radially extending grooves in the plate 63. Plate 63 is pressed against plate 62 by spring 66 and thus keeps the balls in contact with the latter. A lever 67 pivotable about bolts 68 has a forked end 69 which enters a groove 70 attached to a hub extension of the plate 63. A part 71 of the lever 67 engages in a groove 55 of the sleeve 44.
When using this device, a change in the machine speed requires an adjustment of the balls 65 in the radial direction. As a result of the inclined shape of the plate 62, an axial displacement of the plate 63 occurs. By lever 67 and part 71, the axial displacement of the plate 63 is transferred to the sleeve 44, which is thereby adjusted in the axial direction according to the change in the machine speed. By adjusting the axial position of the sleeve 44, the angular position of the camshaft 40 with respect to the crankshaft is adjusted in accordance with the change in the machine speed.
This angular position, for its part, causes the instant the valve 16 to close, where a maximum degree of efficiency is achieved over a large speed range of the machine.
Since the camshaft 78, which carries the cam 37, is preferably driven by the wheel 38 seated on the crankshaft in the same way as the camshaft 40, one of the control devices described with reference to FIG. 4 or 5 can, if necessary, between the camshaft 78 and the transmission are switched on, which transmits the drive from the wheel 38. In this way, the moment of closing and opening of the inlet valve can be precisely adjusted.
6 shows schematically a crank diagram for a two-stroke internal combustion engine of the type described. FIG. 6 shows the times of opening and closing of the exhaust and intake valves in relation to the position of the crankshaft. It is assumed that the outlet openings 12 are opened at point A about 120 after the top dead center of the crank.
The exhaust of the combustion gases takes place up to point B for a period of time which corresponds to a rotation of the crank by about 30. At this point B the auxiliary valve 16 is closed ge. Practically at the same moment the inlet valve 31 (Fix. 3) is opened, and it is closed again when the crankshaft has reached its bottom dead center, which is indicated by point C in FIG. 6.
The inlet valve therefore remains open while the crankshaft is rotated by about 30 ver, but there can be a slight overlap of the periods of time during which the 'outlet valve 16 and inlet valve 31 are open, that is, the inlet valve can, for. B. be opened during the last 5 of the crank movement, during which exhaust valve 16 is open.
In any event, the intake valve is not opened until the combustion gate has essentially ceased to flow out of the cylinder during the so-called first exhaust period.
The devices described gestat th to use the pressure reduction generated during the aforementioned first discharge period for charging the cylinder. It is also possible to close the outlet within 0.01 to 0.001 seconds after opening the outlet openings. It is easy to adjust the valve closure depending on the machine speed.
