Process for carrying out chemical, in particular catalytic processes with aerolein and its a-substituted homologues at higher pressures. In the catalytic conversion of aerolein, in particular its reduction or hydrogenation, the drawback shows that the aerolein tends to become resinous and other undesirable side reactions to an increased extent, especially in the stage of the heating-up period, i.e. when passing through the temperature ranges,
especially when working under increased pressure.
The invention relates to a method for carrying out chemical, in particular catalytic processes, with aerolein and its a-substituted homologues at higher pressures, which is characterized in that the unsaturated substances are heated so that they are at least during one Part of the heating temperature interval only comes into contact with heated gases as the carrier of the heating up heat.
It has been shown that the undesired reactions can largely be avoided if one works in the manner described, but especially if one ensures that the aerolein or its derivatives are at least between 100 and 300 C only with appropriately heated gas , with advantage hydrogen or hydrogen-containing gas mixtures.
The practical implementation of the process is advantageously done in such a way that the Aerolein. at increased pressure in vapor form or in the sprayed state, mixed with the hydrogen, which has temperatures above 100, about 200-400 or even higher. Instead of hydrogen, hydrogen-containing mixtures of z. B. synthesis gas, mixtures with stick material, also other gases, such as. B.
Water vapor, ammonia or inert gases such as carbon dioxide, nitrogen or Mixtures of the substances mentioned come into consideration. In this way of working, the influences that the material of the vessel walls exert on the substance that tends to become resinous are largely or completely eliminated.
It has also shown, in particular, that if an aerolein and hydrogen-containing mixture has been obtained in this way, this is then also normally overheated without any disadvantage. heated catalyst assemblies supplied. can earth.
