Process for the preparation of a new anthraquinone dye. The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of a new anthraquinone dye and is characterized in that 4-aminoanthraquinone-2,1- (N) -benzacridone is mixed with 4-p-bromobenzoylamino-1-ss-naphthylamine.oanthraquinone car - converts bazol.
The reaction can be carried out by heating the reagents in an inert solvent, for example nitrobenzene or naphthalene, expediently in the presence of an acid-binding agent, such as sodium carbonate, and a catalyst, for example cuprous chloride.
The dye thus obtained is a dark brown, crystalline substance which dissolves in concentrated sulfuric acid to form a greenish solution. Cotton is dyed from the dull red vat in grayish-brown shades with very good fastness properties, especially against cooking in soda and against the effects of light. Let the following example explain the invention.
Example: 22.5 parts of 4-aminoanthraquinone-2,1- (N) -benzacridone, 86.4 parts of 4-p-bromobenzoylamino-1-ss -naphthylaminoanthraquinone -carbazole (obtained by condensing 4-chloro -1- p -bromberizoylaminoanthraquinone with β-naphthylamine and cyclizing the product in 90 / 0ol sulfuric acid), 8 parts of anhydrous sodium carbonate,
2 parts of cuprous chloride and 750 parts of nitrobenzene who re-boiled with stirring for 12 hours. The product is then cooled, diluted with 500 parts of ethyl alcohol, filtered and washed on the filter with ethyl alcohol. It is then boiled with dilute hydrochloric acid, filtered again, washed with water and dried.
In this way, dark brown crystals are obtained which give a greenish solution in concentrated sulfuric acid. The dull red vat of this dye dyes cotton in grayish-brown shades of very good fastness, especially against cooking in soda and against the effects of light.
