Device for] regulating electric arc furnaces. The invention relates to a device for regulating electric arc furnaces, in which the electrodes are automatically shifted depending on the current in the individual electrodes or the arc voltage or both. The automatic electrode regulating devices nowadays generally work with small lowering and increased lifting speeds.
In practical operation, however, it has been shown that the lifting speed must not become too high either, so that a smooth sequence of the control process of the electrode movement is guaranteed. If the lifting speed is increased too much, the control becomes over-sensitive and leads to sharp drops in the current diagram.
If a short circuit occurs as a result of the insert coming into direct contact with an electrode, however, the main switch can still be triggered with such controls because the electrode cannot be lifted out of the insert quickly enough and the Short circuit therefore persists over the entire time of the main switch's tripping delay. In order to prevent such shutdowns, the lifting speed of the electrodes would have to be increased to a multiple of the speed value required for normal operation; but this would have a disruptive effect again in normal operation, as noted at the beginning.
The present invention consists in the fact that, in the event of a short circuit in the furnace, the lifting speed of the electrodes is increased by additional means which intervene in the normal control process, beyond the lifting speed used in normal operation.
Here, the advantages of the newer controls with different lifting and lowering speeds can be used without loss; they 'are supplemented by the invention to avoid persistent short circuits, which can lead to disconnection of the main switch and thus to disruptive operational interruptions at normal lifting speed.
In Fig. 1 of the drawing, an electrical, hydraulic valve control unit is shown schematically as an exemplary embodiment of the concept of the invention, while Fin% 2 and 3 are characteristic curves as a function of the Show time, namely time Fig. 2 a current diagram and Fig. 3 a combined diagram of the current,
Pressure and electrode speed curve.
The example in FIG. 1 relates to a device in which the electrode 3 of a light-arc furnace 1 is supplied with a liquid pressure medium, for example water , is conscious. The arc is formed between the insert 2 of the furnace and the electrode 3, which is raised and lowered by the piston of the cylinder 4.
A current transformer6 is switched on in the power supply line, -, - 5 , which feeds the additional regulator 7 , which feeds the valve 12 for the flow of pressurized water to the cylinder 4 controls. During normal operation of the melting process, the furnace 1 is controlled remotely from a control panel using the controller 8 . Then the pressurized water for controlling the electrode 3 flows via the valve 10 into the line 9 to the pressurized water cylinder 4.
Both valves, 10 and 12, are fed from the same pressurized water reservoir (not shown in the drawing), but the pressure drop in the long one via the control panel valve 10 </ B > The leading line is significantly larger than in the short line 14, 15, 9. In the event of a short circuit, the additional regulator 7 directly connected to the furnace comes into operation , which after part of the tripping time of the overcurrent time relay
Hauptscha-Iters, not shown in the drawing, adjusts the valve 12 for the additional supply of pressurized water. An adjustable damping device, 13 , is attached to the actuating rod 11 of the valve 12 and serves to delay the valve movement. The attenuation 13 is set in such a way that the valve 12 only follows a short-circuit current occurring in the supply line 5 after part of the tripping delay time of the main switch has elapsed.
In practical operation, as a delay el with the Veiitill) eu #, e (, - tiiig, for example, the aid of the release delay time of the main switch ", -ew; ii" is used.
The device 1 shown is the following: If a short circuit occurs as a result of direct contact between the electrode 3 and the insert 2, the regulator 8 of the valve controls the valve 10 on 11-Lib of the electrode, and the electrode moves with normal Uub - eseliwiiidio11 # ei.t upwards.
If it is only a matter of spontaneous contact with the electrode with a part that lies under the electrode 3 , then Brueliteile from S (-customers of the normal stroke movement are sufficient to break the short circuit and the normal Manufacture Liehtbogenstroni.
In the diagram of FIG. 1 -), which shows the course of the second direct current proportional to the electrode current ;
of converter 6 as a function of time 1 , this case corresponds to the peak 20 of the characteristic. Ilandelt it see however 1-) a Kiirzseliltiss around a (, touch of fixed insert parts, #, # relehe from the side to the electrode are approaching # then it dates with the normal 11-Lii) - züi until a separating line z #,
The visual electrode and insert is brought about, and after the tripping delay time of the main switch has elapsed, this would respond and interrupt the current to the furnace.
To prevent this, the additional regulator 7 has lowered the valve piston 12 after half of the trigger delay line of the main switch has elapsed so that through the pressure water pipe #, 14 pressurized water is in the line 15 and from there into the pressure line 9 .
The pressure cylinder 4 is now, in addition to the long line with a large pressure drop through the valve 10 controlled by the regulator 8 , via the short Leitumren 15 and 9 with a small pressure drop through (read valve 12 from regulator 7 lier fed with pressurized water. The] pressure under the piston of the pressurized cylinder rises rapidly in and the lifting speed of the electrode 3 is greatly increased.
This makes it possible to separate the electrode from laterally touching insert parts within the triggering delay time of the main switch. In FIG. 2, this corresponds to the point '21 in the stroke diagram. The triggering of the main switch would occur at instant 22 The current diagram according to Fig. 2 takes place. However, it is avoided by the greatly increased operating speed, since, as a result of the intervention of the short-circuit controller 7 , the current diagram near the dash-dotted part 23 in FIG 2 runs.
The combined diagram according to FIG. 3 illustrates the sequence of the control processes in point 21 of the flow diagram - 'ig. 2. The upper diagram of FIG. 3, tone F - repeats with the line 25 a section of the diagram according to FIG. 2, namely the Current curve in electrode 3 on a different scale. The increase in point 26 corresponds to the current increase in point 21 of FIG. 2.
At the same time as the increase in current at point 26 , the middle dia- gramine in FIG. 3 shows the increase in pressure p in cylinder 4 and its further course according to the line 27. The lower diagram of FIG. 3 also begins at the same instant as the two diagrams above and shows the course of the electrode speed v.
When a short circuit occurs at point 26 , a normal lifting movement begins with an increase in the press water pressure up to point 28. The lifting speed runs according to line 29 < / B> evenly, until half the tripping delay time of the main switch has elapsed according to item 30 resp. 31. Since the short-circuit current continues after the line 25 , the additional controller 7 actuates the valve 12 and increases the press water pressure in the cylinder 4 .
The increased supply of press water into the cylinder 4 causes the lifting speed at point 31 to increase to the value 32 , which is approximately the value in the example shown is four times greater than the normal stroke speed 29. The bend 33 of the current diagram 25 shows that at this moment the electrode is separated from the insert has taken place and the current drops again.
The valve 12 immediately closes the additional feed of press water again, and the middle diagram again shows a normal level of press water pressure. The stroke speed drops to the normal value according to 34 and lets the current in the diagram according to line 25 drop to the normal value. The controller 8 now also closes the normal press water supply so that the pressure according to the middle diagram at 35 reaches the zero line. Correspondingly, the stroke movement is also stopped and the zero line is also sufficient at 36 .
Instead of the additional controller 7, a simple electromagnet or an auxiliary relay can also be used to drive the additional valve 12. These devices are then also expediently equipped with a fixed or adjustable delay element corresponding to the damping 13. The excitation of the additional organ, d. h. of the controller 7 or the device replacing it can, as shown, be dependent on the electrode current or on the arc voltage, which becomes zero in the event of a short circuit, or closes of current and voltage at the same time.
Electrode controls with lifting motors and spindle drives for the electrodes can also be designed in such a way that they run at multiple speeds in the event of a short circuit, possibly after part of the triggering delay time of the main switch has elapsed. It is always a question of using appropriate additional means, for example relays or regulating devices, to prevent the main switch from being triggered by accelerating the electrode.
