montre-bracelet.
wristwatch. The present invention relates to a wristwatch die generally rectangular, that is to say of the. general shape .d'un quadrilateral whose angles are -right, comprising a box body which receives the movement and a glass-holder poop. In watches of this kind, the case body requires, for its constitution, a relatively large mass of metal, especially if, to reduce the cost price, a thick movement is used which, for equal quality,
is less expensive than a flat movement.
The object of the invention is to remedy this drawback and to simplify the construction of wristwatches so as to allow their manufacture by means of tools the establishment of which is not expensive and whose role is .longue.
To this end, the invention relates to a wristwatch, characterized in that the box body is made of molded plastic and in that the bezel is formed of a thin sheet of metal cut and stamped so as to receive a deep and rigid shape adapting to the box body by styling it.
The glass can be formed of a rectangular or square plate of elastically deformable transparent material which is mounted in the corresponding opening. Of the bezel devoid of bezel and has on its sides -bearing edges on the edges of the said opening, these edges being adjacent one to the inner face of the transparent plate and the other to the outer face.
The box body may be in the form of a cup notched on its longitudinal sides to receive by embedding the corresponding sides of the bezel which reveal a zone of the box body so that, the latter being the same color as the links of the bracelet, the whole of the assembled box appears on the wrist with a lesser thickness than the real one which corresponds to the body,
of thick movement box.
The transverse edges of the box body may include gutters for receiving rods of a material such as rubber, which seal against contact with the bezel in these regions.
The fixing of the bezel to the case body can take place by means of pins which pass through the horns of the case body and take the place of attachment bars for the links which constitute the bracelet.
Maintaining in place the fixing pins of the bezel can be ensured by an elastically deformable tube abutted at its ends against the horns of the box body and having a lug which engages in a groove of the pin which passes through it.
The appended drawing shows, by way of example only, one embodiment of a wristwatch according to the invention.
Fig. 1 is a half-elevation and longitudinal half-section view of the assembled box.
The fi-. 2 is a corresponding plan view with horizontal half-section taken along line II-II -de FIG. 1.
Fig. 8 is a cross section along the line III III of FIG. 1.
The box body 1 which contains the movement of the watch is obtained by molding a thermoplastic material or composition, in particular a synthetic resin. It is generally rectangular in shape and com takes a flat bottom and a raised edge each provided with -on its short sides, .de two horns 2 and -two gutters 8 in which are arranged rods 4 of an elastic material such as than rubber, intended to ensure sealing, as will be explained later.
The bezel is taken from a sheet of pure metal, or any desired alloy, cut and stamped so as to constitute a rec tangular frame, the upper face of which is conformed to a cylindrical surface which, when the bezel is assembled with the body box 1, extends to the level of the outer face of the bottom of the latter. The longitudinal sides of the frame are notched so as to. to be applied on the sides of the body 1 in corresponding recesses 6 on the sides of the gearbox body 1.
Preferably, the bezel has at 7 (fi. 8 ') roundings of relatively large radius which participate with the general shape described to give. this part has considerable rigidity even when taken from a very thin sheet of a malleable precious metal or alloy.
The crystal 8 for protecting and observing the dial: is made of unbreakable material transparent to the -cure of the material known under the trade name of, Rhodoïd-, elastically deformable, cut into a rectangle. to be presented: on its longitudinal sides, two flanges 9. adjacent to its outer face, on its transverse sides, two flanges 10 adjacent to. its internal face.
This arrangement makes it possible to eliminate the bezel which, in a bezel established as has just been described, could only be executed with an obviously expensive attached ring.
To mount the glass on the bezel, one of the edges 10 is engaged under the corresponding transverse edge of the bezel and the deformable plate 8 which constitutes the glass is arched in order to engage the opposite edge 10 under the corresponding edge. The fixation of the ice is thus absolute; it is maintained longitudinally and transversely by resting its sides on the edges of the opening of the bezel and it is retained, in the direction of depression towards the dial, by the re edges 9 and. in the opposite direction, by the re edges 10.
The movement being mounted in the box body, it is closed off by the bezel which covers it, as shown in the drawings, and is fixed by pins 10a which pass through the lugs 2 and serve as attachment bars. of the link that constitutes the bracelet.
The seal is ensured, at the places where the contact surface between the box body and the bezel is reduced, by the rubber rings 4. One of the longitudinal sides of the bezel may be notched for the passage of said winding stem, not shown.
Each 1Oca pin has, in its middle part, a. ; barley 11 and it is engaged in a tube 12 abutted at its ends against the horns 2. This split tube following a generator to be able to undergo .de slight elastic deformations, has to the right of the groove 11 a lug or pushed part 13 which engages in said groove and retains the pin 10a against any displacement in the axial direction. When the pin 10a must be released, it is pushed with the pin punch and so as to deform ela: stically the tube 12 to release the lug 13 from the groove 11.
The wristwatch being attached to the wrist gives the appearance of an all-metal watch. If the material of the case body 1 is of the same color as the link of the bracelet, the total thickness appears reduced due to the fact that the visible zones 14 of the body seem to extend the bracelet and to raise the bottom relative to the wrist. fictitious of an entirely metal box, the longitudinal edges of which appear at 6. The illusion can be reinforced by cutting chamfers 15 on the body of the box 1 in plastic material.
