Liquid metering-dispenser, in particular for the injection of fattening liquids
or treatment in the ground.
Devices are already known for injecting liquids into the soil for the lubrication or treatment of plants, had party, culier fruit trees, and comprising a hollow needle plunging into the ground, to. through which the liquid to be injected is delivered under pressure.
Such liquids are usually prepared in very high concentrations in order to avoid unnecessary water transport. It is therefore necessary to be able to carry out as rigorous a control as possible of the quantities of liquid injected, both to avoid the effects. harmful effects which the injection of excessive quantities of liquids could produce on the vegetation of fattened or treated trees, than to proportion exactly these quantities to the i. weight of the treated plants and consequently obtain an optimum use of the fattening or treatment liquid.
The present invention a. The object is a dispenser-metering device making it possible to ensure this control in an easy and precise manner, and it also has in its embodiment remarkable qualities of simplicity, robustness and etaneity.
This device, intended to be used with an apparatus as described above, comprises a metering cylinder, of determined volume, enclosing a free pin capable of breaking in both directions between stops and connected by its two ends to a distribution box by means of two conduits opening out on the same face of said box.
the latter itself being connected, on the one hand, to an inlet duct connected for example to the pressure delivery device and, on the other hand, to an outlet duct connected for example to the 'hollow injection needle, and opening on the same face as the two supported conduits, a drawer capable of receiving from the outside, for example by means of a handle, a rotational movement, being arranged inside said distribution box for alternately communicating the outlet duct a. vee both conduits connected to the metering cylinder.
In these the pressurized liquid arrives alternately on each of-! udder faces. your mobile planned da. ns the metering cylinder and the latter is caused to move towards the opposite end of said cylinder by discharging through the distributor cylinder, towards the outlet duct going for example to the injection needle, the liquid previously admitted on its other side. Therefore, on each displacement of the piston corresponding to each displacement of the distribution spool, the delivery through the outlet duct of a quantity of liquid corresponding to the volume of the cylinder traversed by the piston.
It is then sufficient, knowing the volume of liquid displaced with each movement of the drawer, to impart to the latter the desired number of displacements to obtain the discharge of the. desired amount of liquid.
At least one of the stops limiting the stroke of the free piston inside the metering cylinder can be adjustable to allow the metering adjustment to be made as desired.
The drawer of the distribution box can advantageously be constituted by a flat box applied to the face of the distribution box str which open out the ducts connecting with the metering cylinder and pierced, on its face, for contact with the distribution box, orifices capable of placing alternately in communication with one and the other 'said' connecting conduits with the outlet conduit through the interior of the drawer. A waterproof seal can be attached to the canta face. eti du ta. look. This jaint is tightly clamped between the drawer and the. wall of the distribution box, due to the pressure prevailing inside the latter.
In order to avoid wear and deterioration. from this seal during movements periodically printed on the drawer, it is possible to isolate from the intake duct, during this period, the interior of the distribution box, by means of a valve controlled from the outside. This valve is preferably controlled by a rod and a hand lever, said rod also carrying a piston moving inside a cylinder attached to the distribution box, so that the movement of the piston driven by the rod when closing the valve produces, by sinking into the cylinder, one at; Indication of the volume of the inner chamber of the distribution box.
The pressure prevailing in said chamber is thus relieved and the slide no longer being applied by force against the wall of the distribution box, its displacement can be effected more easily and without appreciable wear of the movable seal.
An embodiment of the device forming the subject of the invention is shown, by way of example, in the accompanying drawing, in which:
Fig. 1 is a longitudinal axial section of the device in one of the positions of the dispenser.
Fig. 2 is a similar view of the device in the opposite position of the dispenser.
In this example, 1 is the metering cylinder, of suitably calculated dimensions, in which is mounted a free piston 2 capable of moving between a fixed stop 3 placed at one end of the cylinder 1 and an adjustable stop screw 4 arranged at the other end of the latter. The piston 2 is provided on both sides with etaneheity leathers 5a, 5b.
The metering cylinder 1 is connected at its two ends by conduits 6a, 6b, to a distribution box 7. Halfway between the conduits 6a and 6b and on the same wall 8 of the box 7 opens into the latter a conduit 9, for example going to the handle of a hollow needle (not shown) intended to inject the liquid into the ground. The box 7 has, on one of its side walls, a circular opening 10 communicating said box with a chamber 11 into which a duct 12 emerges from a pressure delivery device (also not shown). On the opposite side wall, the box 7 has a cylinder-shaped appendage 13 pierced at the end of an opening 14.
In the distribution box 7 is mounted a rotary slide 15 consisting of a flat box pierced at its lower part with two orifices 16 and 17, the first of which is located opposite: the duct 9 while the second is likely to come into place either in front of the duct 6a or in front of the duct 6b, during the rotation of the drawer. The latter is integral with a control rod passing through the wall of the box 7 and is connected to a handle 18 making it possible to control its rotation. A seal 19 ensures that the seal between the drawer 15 and the wall 8 of the distribution box 7.
In the chamber 11 is placed a ball 20, for example of rubber, capable of closing off the opening 10. On the other hand, a rod 21, movable in the direction of its axis, passes right through the distribution box. - tion 7 eb the cylinder 13, passing through the extreme opening 14 of the latter. A spring 27 constantly urges this rod towards the outside of the box 7, in the direction of closing of the opening 10.
The end 22 of the rod 21 is shaped so as to be able to be applied on the ball 20, while its opposite-end has a. button 23 capable of cooperating with a control lever 24 articulated at 25 on a fixed support, not shown. A sealed piston 26 is fixedly mounted on the rod 21 inside the cylinder 13, and a spring 27 tends to apply said rod against the lever 24.
When the rotary drawer 15 and the lever 24 are in the position shown in FIG. 1, the liquid to be dispensed, arriving for example under a pressure of 20 kg / om2, goes, by line 66, into metering cylinder 1 and pushes piston 2 towards the other end of this cylinder. The metered quantity of liquid which was previously in said cylinder 1 is then expelled through conduits 6a and 9 to the apparatus. of use, by passing through the slide 15. When the piston 2 has reached the full stroke, against the stop 4, the lever 24 is released which, under the action of the spring 27 which pushes the rod 21, returns to 24a.
During urs. some movement. of. rod 21, the ball returns to apply s. ur the edges of the orifice 10 and obtujre the latter, separating magnet Themtérieur of the boîbe'1 of the condult 12 under pressure. As the rod 21 continues to travel, the movement of the piston 26 increases the internal volume of the box 7 and consequently causes the pressure which prevailed therein to be released. Depending on the planned race for. r rod 21, this pressure can be more or less lowered, and even become negative if the force of spring 2'7. is calculated accordingly.
The handle 18 is then pivoted by 180, the orifice 17. of the drawer 15 located opposite the duct 6b (FIG. 2). By pushing back the lever 24, the orifice 10 is again opened and the eo liquid. us piression enters the metering cylinder 1, through the conduit 6a, driving. in front of him the pistou 2 and the liquid entered into the metering cylinder during the first maneuver described above, this last quantity of liquid then going to the place of use through the co, nduit 6b, the first drawer 15 and the conduit 9.
In this way, each operation of the slide 15 and of the lever 24 is obtained, your output of an exactly determined volume of liquid, a volume which can be precisely adjusted by moving the. movable stop 4.
The pressure prevailing inside the box 7 forcefully applies the seal 19 on the wall 8 of the box and thus ensures a perfect seal. On the other hand, when the orifices of the conduits 6a and 6b are discovered at the same time, the pressure being the same on both sides of the piston 2, the latter cannot move.
As a result, it is obvious that one could completely eliminate the device for isolating the box 7 constituted by the biNe 20, the rod 21 and the lever 24, the operation of the apparatus thus being reduced to that of the handle 18. However, this latter arrangement entails the need to move the drawer 15 while its seal 19 is applied against the wall 8 by the pressure prevailing in the chamber 7, said seal thus being subject to much more wear. fast if no special precautions are taken with regard to its constitution and the rectification of the surface 8.
