Method for applying atomized liquids, especially paints and varnishes, to surfaces, and spraying device for carrying out the method. The present invention relates to a method and a device for applying atomized liquids, in particular paints and varnishes, to surfaces, the liquid advantageously being a gas, e.g. B. air, atomized and in the atomized state. Against the surface to be sprayed is driven.
In spray guns it is known to give the jet containing the liquid a flat, strongly diverging shape ("broad jet") by means of a slot-like design of the nozzle, in order to be able to spray larger areas more easily and quickly in this way. The width of this atomized liquid containing jet, z. B. a jet of paint or air-jet of paint, here is regulated by two special air jets GE that meet him at an angle and can press together to the desired width.
This wide-jet regulation takes place by changing the amount of air of the above-mentioned two air jets, the amount of air becoming correspondingly larger with a greater degree of compression of the flat jet.
The present invention consists in that at least one gaseous jet (hereinafter referred to as shaped jet) which is used to regulate the width and thus the cross-sectional shape of the flat jet. has a higher outflow speed than the flat jet flowing out of the slot-shaped nozzle (e.g.
B. an air jet of paint). As a result of this higher outflow velocity: the form jet resp. the form jets and the associated greater shaping force (in contrast to the known arrangements), it is possible to compress the originally wide flat jet to the desired extent with relatively small amounts of air, which, compared to the known designs,
the air requirement is reduced and, in connection with that: the economy of the spraying system is improved. Due to the higher outflow resistance of the shaped jets which completely or partially surround the flat jet, the occurrence of harmful fog formation is largely avoided.
This is partly caused by the fact that the atomized droplets in the flat jet flow out at the upper and lower edges of the nozzle slot. Have a longer path to the surface to be sprayed than: the jet particles,: which emerge in the middle part of the slot and, if the exit speed is insufficient, may not reach the surface to be sprayed, but rather beforehand due to gravity sink and the surface is lost. This process, the loss of color, is further promoted by the following phenomenon.
As a result of friction, vortex formation, etc. at the. speed losses occur especially at the edges of the slot in the flat jet. But since, as is well known, the size of the drops of the atomized liquid depends on the speed of the air used for atomization, larger drops occur at the edges of the flat jet than in the central part.
Apart from the longer distance to be covered as described above, these larger droplets also require a greater propulsive force due to their greater inertia in order to reach the surface to be sprayed, otherwise they sink as a result of gravity and are lost in the spraying process as paint loss.
These larger droplets on the edges of the flat jet are also the cause of: the formation of lumps, which is undesirable in practice. In the present invention, which is based on: the shape beam or To give the form jets a higher speed than the flat jet, these larger droplets in particular are subsequently atomized into finer droplets and accelerated on their way to the surface to be sprayed, whereby the above-mentioned loss of color and the desired lump formation are largely avoided.
The form beam respectively. form- ; Rays-forming gas or air jets are allowed to flow out in front of the gap, seen in the direction of flow, in which case they can also serve as propulsion jets for the flat jet, as shown in FIG. of Swiss Patent No. 210251.
The Treibstralllw effect can, however, also by special air jets regardless of the wide jet regulation of the flat jet by the BEZW. the form rays, can be achieved.
The regulation of the width and thereby the cross-sectional shape of the flat flowing through the gap, the atomized liquid speed containing jet, z. B. color or. Air color stralils, can radiate through the shape by changing the exit cross section of the shaped jet nozzles, whereby the shaped jets can act differently on the flat jet:
This regulation can also be carried out by changing the air flow line of the shaped jets. This can: come about that the form beam respectively. the shaped beams are not guided along their adjacent walls.
With expanding channels at -. This is because the gas or air does not follow the walls in a free outflow, but separates from them and thereby assumes a different direction from that of the walls. This separation phenomenon is essentially BEZW of the angle of the widening channel. with a free exit on the shape of the edges of the outlet opening and on the speed of the flowing out the 3ledium: dependent.
The outflow direction can: therefore, by changing the C; eseh wind speed: the form ray or the form jets or by changing the position of the form jet nozzle BEZW. Nozzles for the slot-like outflow opening of the jet containing the atomized liquid are regulated. 1lIan can also change both of the above drop gates at the same time.
If the shaped jet is throttled or it is directed in such a way that it catches the flowing out of the gap. If the flat jet cannot influence it or only touches it tangentially, it retains its greatest width. By giving the shaped jet or jets a suitable speed, direction, etc., the originally wide and flat jet containing the atomized liquid can be compressed to a jet with a circular or almost circular cross-section.
The invention also relates to a spray device suitable for carrying out the new method, which has at least two conveniently concentrically arranged nozzles, namely an inner one, which the above .genated slot nozzle for the zer atomized liquid @containing jet, z. B.
a gas-liquid jet, forms, and one or more other, expediently in a ring or ring-shaped or from .bild formed nozzles for the shaped jet or. for the shaped jet, the shaped jet nozzle BEZW. : the shaped jet nozzles opposite the slot nozzle, e.g.
B. in the axial direction to regulate the shape of the outflow cross-section of the shaped jet respectively. the shape and / or the direction or for setting the position of the shape jet nozzle in relation to .die slot nozzle, are adjustable.
Two exemplary embodiments of the spray nozzle according to the invention are shown schematically in the accompanying drawing.
1 is a schematic representation of the spray head, FIG. 2 shows part of a first embodiment of the spray head in axial section on a larger scale than that of FIG. 1, FIG. 3 a front view of the embodiment according to FIG. 2,
4 shows an axial section of another embodiment and FIG. 5 shows a front view of the embodiment similar to FIG. 4.
A paint nozzle with a paint needle 3 opens centrally into the atomizing nozzle 1. The shaped jet nozzle 1 to 2, which can optionally also serve as a propellant nozzle, concentrically surrounds the atomizing nozzle 1, so that an annular gap 4 between the outer wall surface of the atomizing nozzle 1 and the inside of the shaped jet nozzle part 2 (Fig . 2). Its size and position is created by moving .the two.
Can turn nozzle parts against each other regulated. The nozzle part 2 can also form two or more separate outlet openings for the shaped jets. Viewed in the direction of flow, the mouth of the atomizing nozzle 1 lies behind the mouth of the shaped jet nozzle 1-2, so that the shaped jet is brought to flow out in front of the slot nozzle in relation to the flow direction.
The wall 5 of the atomizing nozzle 1 has the shape of a hollow cone shortly before and in the area of the mouth. A slot la (FIG. 3) is milled through this Absehlussteil the atomizing nozzle, which respectively the outlet opening. Forms mouth of the nozzle.
Fig. 4 and 5 show an imple mentation form in which the wall 5 of the atomizing nozzle 1 in the vicinity of the mouth has the shape of a spherical hollow body. The shape of the atomizing nozzle can, however, also be any other.
In the embodiment according to FIGS. 4 and 5, the outlet openings 6 of the nozzle 2 for the shaped jets are diametrically opposite one another.
Due to the seat-like shape of the outlet opening la, the cross-section of the jet flowing out of the nozzle 1 (e.g. an air-colored jet) has approximately the shape of a flat ellipse and thus forms a wide straw # 1. The respectively from the annular gap 4. the outlet openings 6 between the nozzle 1 and ':
The shape of the jet flowing out of the nozzle part 2 flows into the broad air-color jet and influences its shape.
Depending on how much the nozzle part 2 is pushed in the axial direction relative to the nozzle 1 ver, whereby the width of the annular gap 4 respectively. the openings 6 and the location of this gap BEZW. these openings to .Spalt la is changed, the shape can radiate the original flat jet depending on your requirements continuously compress up to a round cross-sectional shape.
By using separate air pressure sources for the nozzles 1 and?, Or with the same air pressure source by switching on a throttle in the gas line from the common air source to nozzle 1, these form jets receive a higher air pressure in front of their outlet compared to the pressure in front of the slot higher exit speed than the flat jet flowing out of the nozzle 1, where the shaped jets can also serve as propulsion jets.
As a result of the greater Ge speed of the shaped jets compared to the flat jet and the associated greater shaping force, the amount of compressed air supplied to the shaped jet nozzle 2 and, accordingly, all outlet openings can be kept small.
