Description
Process for producing insulation from glass in glow plugs or spark plugs. The invention relates to a method: to produce an insulation for glow plugs formed from a glass melt:
or spark plugs and consists in that the parts to be united and insulated from one another are coated at the required places with a paste mixed with glass powder and a binding agent dissolved in a liquid, after the coating has dried, put together until heated to melt the glass powder and then held in place until it cools, preferably under slight pressure.
The method according to the invention is suitable for the mass production of candles. For example, to isolate a glow wire plug according to the drawing, the ineina.ndersteckenden electrodes a and b are respectively before assembly with a coating c. d made of a pasty mass. The pulp is obtained by mixing glass powder - preferably lead glass - with water or alcohol and a binding agent. Can be used as a binder. . together with water any water soluble adhesive, e.g.
B. gum arabic, or when using: Spiritus., Z. B.. Scheulack, taken who the. The use of alcohol has the advantage that the painted parts dry quickly.
After the coating has dried, the coated electrodes are put together and placed in an oven. Heated temperature so that the glass powder melts and becomes viscous. Depending on the type of glass used, this temperature is between 600 and 700 C. In this state, the candles are taken out of the furnace and the parts are pressed together under slight pressure until they have cooled down while the glass is still viscous.
It is advisable to keep the period of time during which the candles are at the highest temperature as short as possible in order to prevent any incipient reduction of lead from the glass when using lead blowers.
