Enamelled metal container, for the box, and method for its manufacture. The present invention includes an enameled metal container for cooking and a method for its manufacture.
The container according to the invention is characterized in that its bottom is provided with a reinforcement of light metal. By light metal is meant naturally either a metal of low specific weight or a light alloy.
The method which the invention comprises is characterized in that to obtain the reinforcement in light metal, is brought as early as during the enameling, the light metal in the molten state on the bottom of the container, this operation taking place at a temperature of the container for which the enamel is not brittle.
The accompanying drawing represents, by way of example, several embodiments of the container which the invention comprises.
Fig. 1 is a cross-sectional view of a prcniière embodiment.
Fig. \ 22 represents part of a variant of FIG. 1, on a larger scale. Fig. 3 and 4 are views analogous to fi-. 2 but relating to two other forms of execution.
The container shown in FIG. 1 com takes a body 1 made of metal, the bottom of which? is provided with a reinforcement 3 made of light metal (for example aluminum or light alloy comprising aluminum). The reinforcement 3 is enclosed by a metal ring 4, preferably of stainless steel, of cross section in the form of [., Which is welded at 5 against the bottom 2 of the container. The side wall of the container is enameled in a known manner.
It has been indicated in 6, in. exaggerating the thickness, the enamel layer in question.
In the case of the fi-. 1, 'the enamel layer 6 stops at the place where the ring 4 is welded against the bottom 2.
In the case of Fig. 2, on the contrary, the enamelling 6 continues on the reinforcement up to about halfway up the thickness of the latter. It could, moreover, be extended up to 'near the free edge 7 of the ring 4. The enameling should not be allowed to go all the way to the edge 7, so as to allow the lower surface 8 of the reinforcement to be machined without risk of damaging this enamelling.
The, embodiment according to fib. 3 differs from that following fi-. 1 by 1c means that we have. removes the cylindrical part of the ring 4, represents in dotted lines, passing the reinforcement around. The on the side face 9 of this reinforcement therefore shows the light metal. In this case, of course, the enamelling G stops a little before reaching the ring 4.
In the following example fig. 4, the ring 4, L-shaped, is closely surrounded by a cylindrical ring 10, welded to it and whose end I1 presses against the wall of the container itself. The enamelling G stops close to this edge 11. It could moreover, in a variant, extend onto the ring 10, in particular in cases where the outside diameter of this ring 10 would be little different. the outside diameter of the container itself.
A few examples of the method of manufacturing the container will now be described. represented.
According to a first implementation, corresponding, for example, to any one of the fia. 1 to 4, after having fixed the ring 4 on the body of the container (and possibly the ring 10 on the ring 4), the first layer of enamel is placed on the container, by immersing it in a bath enamel after having covered with a cover the parts of the region of the reinforcement and the bottom which are not to be enameled. This enamelling operation is immediately pre-sold,
or is followed by the placing on the outer surface of the bottom 2, a mixture comprising pieces of loose metal and non-metallic materials also in pieces, such as, for example, boras and 'enamel with a little kaolin.
Once this is done, the container is placed in the oven for cooking this first layer of emery. The container is then brought to a temperature of about 900 for, for example, five minutes, which melts the light metal and the materials. non-metallic arranged on the outer surface of the bottom 2.
These materials float on the molten metal, which occupies about half the height that reinforcement 3 should have when finished. After having taken the container out of the oven, and placed the second layer of enamel, with a spray gun, a new layer of pieces of light metal and the same non-metallic materials is placed on top of the layer of light metal, now solidified on the bottom 2.
It is returned to the oven, at a temperature of 800-820 for example, to bake this second layer of enamel and, at the same time, cause the fusion of all the light metal on the bottom 2 which, after leaving the oven, constitutes reinforcement 3.
All that remains, after enamelling, is to finish the reinforcement, that is to say to machine the surface 8 by bringing it to the desired height and at the same time eliminating all non-metallic materials. solids which floated on the light metal during the construction of the reinforcement 3.
In a variant, one could, after the operation of firing the first enamel layer, proceed directly to the second enameling and firing of this second enamel layer, after which light metal would simply be poured onto the layer. of this metal which is already on the bottom 2. As this casting takes place at a temperature of about 700, so that the receptacle comes out of the oven and is at a temperature of 800 to 900 ", the enamel does not risk to be damaged, no longer brittle, at these temperatures.
For the realization of the, following construction fia. 4, one can also proceed as follows: After having successively arranged the first layer of enamel, then proceeded to its firing, then placed the second layer of enamel and then also proceeded to its firing, it is brushed.
outer surface of bottom 2 and the inner surface of ring 4 with a wire brush to remove oxide, the container is heated to about 300-400 and a thin layer of metal is placed on the surfaces thus brushed. , preferably -an alloy.
It is heated, receptacle, preferably from the inside cCu melts 2, to a temperature at which the enamel ceases to be 'brittle and a light metal alloy is poured on the surface. of the bottom 12), so that after solidification, it constitutes reinforcement 3.
In order to achieve more. Easily regular and preferably slow cooling of the container after @ this casting, this container can be placed in a mass of wheat to protect it from cooling by the ambient air.
Of course, any known means intended to facilitate the adhesion of the reinforcement 3 to the bottom 2 can be provided on the latter.
It is also possible to reinforce the bottom of the container, before enameling, by means of metal ribs, in order, on the one hand, to prevent a deformation of this bottom in the enamel furnace and, on the other hand. hand, to facilitate the transmission of heat from the central region to the. peripheral part of said bottom.
