Device for applying wraps. Main patent no. 222041 relates to a method and a device for insulating an electrical conductor with a tape, wherein: the tape, for example a plastic film, is adhered to the conductor along its one edge with adhesive and the conductor together with the adhered tape about the head axis rotating movement through a straight groove ge leads.
In this way, an insulation can be produced in which the tape placed on the conductor envelops the conductor in several layers, which are arranged in a spiral around the conductor axis in cross section.
A described embodiment of the device for carrying out the procedural rens has a rectilinear, a guide member-forming groove, which is fixed between two reels's rule, between which a head brought into the device runs in an unclamped state and of which at least one in rotatable frame is mounted and is rotated in the loading operations of the device.
In addition to the production of insulation, the method and the device are also suitable for applying foils made of plastic or metal onto an already insulated conductor or a cable consisting of several such conductors. to apply soul to form a jacket or shield.
Since in the process described in the main patent, the tape is continuously wound around the conductor on the way through the groove-shaped guide, the cover here becomes steadily thicker due to the increase in the number of winding layers until the tape is on its is wrapped around the conductor over the entire width. If a tape of such a width is to be used that the thickness of the sheath produced with it exceeds the width of the groove, it can easily happen that the conductor gets stuck in the groove.
In order to eliminate these difficulties, according to the invention the grooved guidance of the device is conically expanded in the direction of movement of the conductor to be enveloped.
As the wrapping process progresses steadily in the groove, the ratios can be selected so that the conductor reaches its greatest increase in diameter at the groove, so that there is also the advantage that the groove widened according to the invention is better than the wrapping process is adjusted.
